How is the Ipad 2 better that the first one? How is it worse?

For one it has a camera. Another thing is it has a faster processor. The device its self is faster than the first IPad. The downside is cost. Original iPads are usually a lot cheaper than the iPad 2. It all comes down to preference and budget. 👍

Worse? It's thinner.

Better? Almost every way. Faster, nicer to use, lighter (but still with that solid feel to it that all Apples have) and the picture looks crisper.

You'd be better off buying an Android tablet like an Acer Iconia Tab A500 or a Samsung Galaxy Tab.

I've seen some pretty swell tablets. And I've played around with the Galaxy Tab. If I were to go that way, I'd wait for the update to the same processor as the new Galaxy S... the Tab uses the same processor as the old one, and that's slooooow. Not to mention the fact that Samsung's GPS antennas are garbage. (I own a first-gen S, brother owns a second-gen and used to have the Tab.

The HTC Flyer tablet gives you much more speed, better GPS lock-on and reception and a cooler form factor.

Form factor is always a good reason to go Apple. Apple doesn't muck around with cheap plastics and bad finishes like others. Apple's tablet OS still has that edge over Android, iTunes still has more good stuff than the Android Market and Apple's obsessive-compulsive control of iTunes content means less glitching and crashing and more enjoying.

And this is from someone who owns both Android and Apple products and who isn't getting a new iPad... I'm getting the HTC Flyer... for the simple reason that I have an iPad1, there's nothing wrong with it, and I need something smaller with accurate GPS.

The Acer Iconia Tab A500 has a good build quality and it feels nice to hold and it has a good CPU/GPU. Although, the Sony P1 or S2 or whatever it is called feels nice to hold thanks to its design. I can't say much about the GPS or anything like but I would recommend shopping around.

I would fully recommend the iPad 2 It is a fantastic piece of kit, sure the price may be a little higher than other tablets but it is worth it especially with iOS5 coming out today and all the new features that brings along with it. If you do get one go for the 32GB WiFi, that will allow you to use it virtually as a straight laptop replacement if you wished. It is very fast and solidly built and works with (so far from using mine) zero issues. The 3G version which I have isn't worth the extra money in my opinion unless your certain you want to be using it on the move for the internet and with the new iMessage system 3G may be useful for talking to friends/collegues with iPads, iPhones (from 3GS onwards) and iPod Touch's (3g onwards) instead of texting.

Thats just my thoughts on it as an iPad 2 user

I'm quite happy with my Motorola Xoom, even though I pretty much don't use either of its two cameras.

Having used both the iPad 1 and 2 quite a lot:

- The iPad 2 feels a lot better in your hands and feels lighter
- The iPad 2 feels a little faster and is faster at loading applications.
- Graphical apps like games run considerably faster.
- Added cameras. They aren't the best cameras though but adequate enough.

Since Icant use a pc at work and my work pc is restricted beyond belief the ipad2 is all I use for the net. I love the thing but have a few minor complaints. I still cant upload from the harddrive to sites like imageshack, and not all sites run perfectly, then the flash issue. Other than that its great and there are ways to get around most of the issues so I definitely like my ipad2 more and more as I get used to using the features (finding more and more funtionality every day).

Every post Ive made at the gtp over the last 3 months has been from the pad. :sly:

Completely sums it up since I also own one...

In my opinion since I've used my friend's Galaxy Tab a lot, it really isn't that bad either. It's not as fast as or as sleek as the iPad 2 but it has an Android, good camera, can make calls, a lot of free apps. in the Android Market and many more.

However, the build quality of the Tab isn't as good as the iPad. Despite it has a Gorilla Glass and such, it feels plasticky and somehow not as solid as I thought. Since my friend has a white one, somehow something like coffee penetrate (?) into the white cover and now it looks very ugly despite it only being 2 months old.

My iPad 2 is going very strong still...

EDIT: Late addition, the battery life of the iPad 2 is mighty impressive compared to the Tab. My iPad 2 can last about 12 hours a day in heavy use! The Tab however, it will be done in about 6 hours as my friend told me and that wasn't even on full use. Perhaps something wasn't right with his but that's what he told me.

iPad post here... (but iPad 1)... Great for "lite" browsing, but for online games and photo uploads, yes, it could use some improvements.

Biggest gripe with either gen is the autocorrect. Since the iPad lets you type almost as fast as on a regular keyboard, mistakes are that much easier to make... as you can be two or three sentences away before you notice that it's incorrectly corrected something you've typed.

Just turn the autocorrect off then!

The iPad two has a processor that is about twice as fast on raw processing power and up to seven times faster for graphics than the first one.

Edit: of course you can turn it off. I don't use autocorrect as I'm typing this on an iPad 1

I have an iOS 4 iPhone here and you can switch off autocorrect. Always has been that way, could do that on my old iPhone 3G.

I have an iOS4 Phone too and I never noticed it :dunce: Oh well, the jailbreak fix for it allows the corrected suggestion to pop-up but you have to manually tap to replace. If i've read the article right that is how it will work in iOS5.
