Just got my DFGT hooked up and at FFB setting of 5 I am having difficulty wheeling around a GT-R (R35) TC on High Speed Ring on RH tires. Should I just keep at it or should I adjust the FFB settings for the time being?

I'm not quite clear on what you mean by difficulty. Like its physically hard for you to turn the wheel or difficulty like keep control of the car? Elaborate a bit lol

You wont find yourself equally fast with wheel in those few first weeks of playing, as you were with Controller.

But you will find it more realistic and natural, and with the time you will exceed your expectation. Ill recommend staring with lower class cars, something that is to slow for you, and slowly trying faster cars.

If this would be switch from controller to wheel in Gran Turismo 5 i would recommend starting from licenses, doing them again.👍

Both actually. The car sometimes misbehaves and I'm having difficulty turning in on the esses past the bridge.

I guess I'll have to. Won't have to worry about Golding them thankfully as I've golded all of the licenses with the DS3.

It took me about 2 months to get completely used to using a wheel after using a DS3 for so long and setting faster lap times than I ever could with a DS3. It just takes practice.

Can you drive in real life? I'm only 15 years old and when I got my G27 I had no previous experience of driving. That's why it took me longer to get used to.

When I got my wheel I too was faster the first day. Some people develop faster then others. Some are born aliens others are slow. I would set the FFB to what feels good for you and practice. Sooner or later you will get comfortable.

One thing is for sure, a wheel adds to the immersion factor a lot.

Took me a minimum of ~10 hours to get used to the wheel in the most basic sense - it was definitely frustrating in the beginning. After that, it became a lot more fun.

After about 50 hours, I was completely comfortable.

The best advice that I got when I first started using a DFGT was to only use 180 degrees of steering (i.e., 90 degrees in either direction). Also, the suggestion of starting with slower cars definitely speeds up the learning curve too, try races at 425-475pp to get used to how the wheel behaves.

It took me about an hour of driving with the wheel to get used to it, another 4 hours to get fast enough to equal my controller times, and then an additional 2 hours to really start crushing it. I think one of the best things I noticed was how much more consistent your lap times will be once you get used to the DFGT.

Get in a low power car on sports tyres, pick a track and lap it constantly. You wont be able to push too hard on those tyres or you will be off and it will teach you to be smooth on the steering and the throttle and brakes, which is very important. Sawing at the wheel just unstablises the car.

One think I would advise is doing some rallying/drifting. This may sound silly, but going straight from a controller to a wheel, it is so hard to control a sideways car. It also gives you a good feel for the wheel and throttle :)

Drifting destroys steering wheels. I would never drift with my G27. :( It broke my old 360 steering wheel (Xbox or Ybox... Or why?box) before I grew a pair and some tastebuds.

And, I think it comes down to the amount of real life practice you've got. GT5 on steering wheel is easy as anything, because I did a lot of karting/autocross before getting my G27.

I made the transition from a digital-joystick to wheels without following the controller-route.

I used this one (http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Competition_Pro) with my good old Commodore 64 and Amiga.
That's what I used on PC (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2uhtPLhprnI).

This transition happended some time ago (early 1990's) so once I owned a PS2 (~2006), I had more problems to deal with the controller, than the other way round LOL.

However the transition from non-FFB to FFB was quite challanging!
