How long to pop tires in Shift 2?

I read in one of the threads that its possible to burn your tires until they pop. I turned all traction off and put on full damage. Burned my tires for 10 straight minutes until they reached 550 degrees and still nothing.
 
*Scratches head with confusion*
I was in a drift section for 10 straight minutes with the telementary on and the tires would not pop at all. Then tried it in a race for another 10 minutes. Tires solid red 555 degress...Still nothing.
 
It happened to me when I was drifting the first time. It takes a while when doing burnouts and donuts. Are you on Elite mode?

Nope not on elite mode. Maybe thats the problem.

I've popped my tires once but it wasn't when i was driving. I just finished the Dakota Oval race for the muscle car championship in my corvette and right when the computer took over after i crossed the line, the left rear tire exploded and it crashed into the wall. i only had pro physics with visual damage and happened
 
It's only happened to me when I've lost a front wheel and I'm spinning up the opposite/rear wheels trying to get the car to move. Pro with full damage.
 
With the Nissan drift car I blow a tire very often in drift events. I didn't tune the car at all, controller settings most sensitivity is set at 50%
 
I've popped mine a couple times, only when I know I lose a drift event I'll mess around and do donuts.

S2000 (NSX swap fully built), ELITE, full damage
