How many F1 cars in GT5?

The inclusion of an official F1 car in Prologue (the F2007) has raised several questions regarding what F1 car's will be included in GT5. Every engine maker in F1 should (you would assume, from past knowledge) be in GT5 and judging by the F2007's appearance in Prologue, I'm guessing that Codemasters owns the rights to the official F1 series, but not to the individual cars.

Does anyone have any real knowledge (as apposed to my quess-tamations) on this?

To be honest, I'd be happy with just one "standard", un-liveried F1 car, similar to the NASCAR in Forza 3. Depending on the quality (or inclusion as it may be) of a livery editor, it may amount to the same thing as having official cars.

The Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) own all rights to the championship name and event structure.

Therefore old or non current cars rights are held by the owners, a perfect example is that GT5P featured the Ferrari F2007 (the previous years car) not the 2008 as the rights to the 2008 where held by Eccelstone's FOM.
 
I really dont know the answer:dopey: but IMO there gona be at least a PD formula car like GT4.
 
They can put Reno,BMW,Toyota etc because PD have license for their car maybe they have license for F1 car's?? Same situation is with Ferrari we have Ferrari car and F1 car in GT5...

BMW is now owned by Peter Sauber. Toyota sold its cars to Stefan and Renault only own 25% of the team (To keep the FIA happy).

So I doubt we'll see any of those cars.

The latest real world cars we might see added are the McLaren 2009 and Ferrari 2009 cars.

I'm expecting to see some pretty famous models, like this one:
Lotus John Player Special '72, the absolute F1 car ever.

Yip, I think the rivalry between the ferrari and mclaren f1 cars, and add the PD F1 car in the mix. Would be pretty cool.

The Renault RS10 would be nice as well... Turbo POWER :)

This presents an interesting opportunity for teams to get their cars where ever they like without having to go through that bald midget in charge.

Now, we all know that the teams generally start developing the cars for (say, 2011) about halfway through (2010) if they can commit to it (ie not in the running for (2010), might as well put effort into (2011)). Brawn did this, which is why they were the first with updated aero on their test cars, and it's why they spent so much time kicking the rest of the field down pitlane and back dispite having little funding for a long time.

If Ferrari has a nearly-finished initial design done for the F2011 done by (I dunno, October?) this year, it would theoretically come under the same agreement as the F2007 - ie not a 'current' F1 car = not under Bernie's control. Granted, this would probably be effectively the design that goes into the first practice of 2011 before receiving sets up aero updates, but it's a car Ferrari themselves can sell the rights to.

GT4 managed to get a few cars from 'the future' in, I think the M5 and an Eclipse or something were released in '05 or '06 and GT4 was a '04/'05 game.

Going beyond the possibilities of next years' Ferrari F1 car, it could have the Car of Tomorrow...of Tomorrow. Licensing get flip turned upside down, and I'd like to take a minute, just sit right there, to tell you how PD could sneak in some awesome cars.


Oh, and if the ye olde F1 cars were included and there was a F1 race online without time restrictions, I'd enter it just to mess with the people in F2007s.

The last year of V10s was 2005, or 2006 if you consider one team allowed to run with a V10 from the previous year under special dispensation.

You seem to forget a very obvious reason why Ferrari would not release next year's F1 car on a video game before next season. Just think about it, McLaren wouldn't need Nigel Stepney at least. ;)

And there were several factors in Brawn's success, not just starting their design early, it also involved spending a lot of money on three different wind tunnels running different designs all the way through 2008. But anyway, thats irrelevant for this topic - you are correct that teams start designing next year's car fairly early, though the final designs still do not become finalised till December or January.

That's exactly what I was thinking of. If that car appears in the game it will definately be one of my favourites.

Thank you very much for that, clear's the situation right up. If having official F1 car's mean they have to be last years model then so be it. A small price to pay in my opinion
 
Sorry to bring up an old thread but I didn't want to start a new one, anyway it turns out that acording to codemasters they no longer have the license for the 2009 season, they only have to 2010. So this could mean that we could have more F1 cars.
 
Maybe PD will include the 'greats' of F1 since they would all need to be 'Premium' models apart form the PD version.

The Ferrari F2007 was a pretty good experiment because it helped to signify the relationship between PD and Ferrari.
