When replying to Jim Prower's thread that I'm on my 3rd Focus has got me thinking about the fact that I'm on my 3rd Focus! :eek:

So, how many of the same make, model and generation vehicle are you on?
 
Ive owned two mazdas and 2 cars with a GM 3800 V6 in them... does any of that count?
 
One. And I'll probably only ever own one. I get bored with cars so I need to change to something way different then whatever car I had before.
 
I've only had 2 cars in my driving career, and technically I don't own either of them, my parents do. I have a Toyota Tundra which will soon be gone, and my trusty Ford Ranger, both trucks. So the answer is two.

I went ahead and put 2 for my answer. The fourth-gen Accord I own now is my first car, and I am dead set in restoring it to sell for one with a manual (I could swap the tranny myself, but these cars are cheap enough that I don't care to go through the hassle). I can't decide whether I want to stick with the sedan or get a coupe, but I'm definitely wanting a '90-93 Accord as a project car... specifically a '92 or '93 if I can help it.

How so? A truck is a type, isn't it? If the question were "how many of the same make and model of car have you owned?", it would be one.

EDIT: Whoops, I didn't read the last part of the first post. I just read the thread title. You're right, one for me. I already voted though.
 
My parents have owned just about every generation of the Mazda 626/6: 1980, 1985, 1996, 2003, and 2009.

Me, I guess my Mazda 3 is the second Mazda Protege/3 I've had, the first being a 1990 Protege in high school (though that wasn't really mine). The Z is #1, but when I have some time and space, I wouldn't be opposed to picking up an old 240Z or 280ZX as a project car :D.
 
I had a '74 Toyota Corrolla and when that rusted out I got an older but cleaner '73 Corrolla. Now I drive a '97 E320 4 matic wagon and just bought a 2003 E320 4dr sedan for the wife. It's easier to have cars youre familiar with so it is easier to know what to expect when maintaining them.
 
2 AW11s and the MR-S, so 2 or 3 depending on how you look at it. I tend to find something I like and stick with it if possible.
 
Just the one for me, though I did learn to drive in the same gen Fiesta that I eventually bought when I passed. I've only owned two cars though and they're completely different, so still one.
 
-Two Honda Accords, a sedan and coupe.
-Two Nissans with a similar platform (Pulsar and Sentra)
-Two 80s Toyotas (Corolla and Camry)
-Two GMs, a Chevy and Oldsmobile (a third if I count the time spent in my parents' Monte Carlo, which I used for my driver's test)
-One each of an AMC, Plymouth, Mazda and I'm sure I'm forgetting a couple.


Edit - I thought I'd mention that my dad has owned at least a dozen 1969-1972 Chevy pickups.

Well im in my second Holden Commodore. Started with 1980 Vc and now I've got a 1999 VT. And the next one if it ever happens will be a VX ss or any model above that.
 
One. Got two cars, "The Cereal Box" (Nissan Skyline R31 GXE) and "Project Suzi" (1984 Suzuki Sierra LWB).

The only same model of car my family has owned is two Nissan Patrols. A black/grey short-wheelbase GQ RX and a white long-wheelbase GQ RX which is what my dad currently owns and drives on 4WD trips.

I answered 4-6... but in truth, our family has owned seven Sentras. So, it's not personal ownership, but still, that's got to be a record.

When we first moved out from the US, we swapped our Chevy for a Ford Escort/Laser. Then we got a 1.5 liter Nissan Sunny B12 wagon.

We traded that one in on a 1.6 liter Nissan Sentra B13 sedan (my favorite, thus far). Pretty advanced for its time, dual overhead cams, timing chain, 110 horses, multi-link rear.

That was traded in for a 1.6 liter B14 Sentra. (this is where I start counting). Which was traded in for a facelifted B14 Sentra a few years later, which got flooded, and was traded in for the same model B14 Sentra after it was fixed up. We then bought a second B14 Sentra. This one was a taxi-special, with a puny carbureted 1.3 liter mill... (which still had dual cams and a timing chain, so it was revvy as hell). Since it had manual window winders, a light engine and almost no sound-deadening, it was also very light and tremendous fun in the twisties (imagine a modern chassis with modern chassis rigidity weighing as much as a late-80's car...) This was my second-favorite Sentra of the ones we've had. That's four B14s, in all.

Years after we sold our last B14, I bougt a secondhand Nissan Sunny pickup, one based on the B13 body-shell. That's our seventh Nissan Sunny/Sentra. Lord knows what I was thinking at the time... :lol:
 
3 1986 Mercury cougars and 1 1969 Nova and a 1970 Nova, different year, same generation. 68-72 was the span on the Nova until 73 kicked off the next gen body, which were horrible from then on out.....
 
The only car I've owned so far is my Escort, so only one.

I did drive two different 2002 Cavaliers in driver's training, though.
 
3 Toyotas (2 being ST180 series Celicas) and 2 Mazdas. First car was a 1986 Corolla (Not a Levin/Trueno, sadly, a 1.3L SOHC, carby HATCH back of POWER) then I bought an ST182 Celica GT-R, which I LOVED but then my better half got pregnant and we were poor so sadly Celica got sold for a car with 4 doors...enter Mazda 323 which was an excellent little car. Moved to Australia and bought a Mazda 626, which is a piece of crap I'm in the process of selling (V6, any takers? No, I wouldn't do that to you!) and have recently got a new (well, old) Celica, albeit a GT-Four this time.

Little bit sad in a way though, my old GT-R Celica had waaaay more options than my GT-Four does, for example 10 speaker system, sunroof, cruise control, electric seats (side bolsters and back support moved). GT-Four has none of that, oh well saves on weight I suppose, and I do get a wide body, 4WD and a turbo now I suppose :sly:

Oh yes, all three Toyotas manual, and both Mazdas auto, go figure...

I'm not sure what to vote here. I've owned 7 toyotas, 5 of them being corollas, 3 ae86, 2 ae91. I've owned 4 nissans, with 3 of them being s13, amongst other cars. So what do I vote... 3,5,6 or 7 ?
 
I drove 4 Camaros, all V8, 1979 models, back in the 90's. They were quite cheap in Germany at that time, and gasoline affordable. But with gasoline around 5€ or $7 per gallon, it's all over now, Baby Blue

I'm not sure if he is asking the same type year doesn't matter or the same generation because it has both in the title. I took it as the same generation aka body style.
 
Two Novas - a little gold rustbox shared with my brother, and my current car, which I think I've had four years.

Also, two K-based Chryslers, a Plymouth Voyager with the 3.0 V6, and a Reliant K wagon...can't remember the mill, was a four, though.

I voted "2-3", but it's really more 1.5. I have a 91 RX-7 and a '09 RX-8. The 8 is not really a direct descendant of the 7, but they are both RX cars.
 
6 depending on how you look at it, or 2 of 3 different generations of the same Type.

1976 280Z 2+2
1976 280Z (got a swap to a turbo motor)
1983 280ZX 2+2
1983 280ZX Turbo (became donor for 76 280Z)
1985 300ZX
1987 300ZX Turbo(still have)
