Im just wondering how many people are like me and do karting on the weekends, and wether it is indoor, outsoor, roadcourse etc.

I currently am doing outdoor dirt oval, and am leading the points this year, and won the championship last year. If anyone is in NC, and close to the track, you should come up and try it out. It is definitely a drivers track, only kart track I know with a cement wall around the outside ;) you can tell who is scared and who isnt because most always let off when they get close to it.

Anyway, just wondering, thanks.

Well here in WI we have Big Cheif. It's only a (maybe) 30 mph track, but hey! it only costs $20 for a full day, and there are more tracks than you can shake a stick at ;) . They do have occasional tournaments and competiteve races though .There are faster (50-60 mph) alternatives, but they require a drivers liscence (which at 14 I do not posses) :( . My friend and I have been trying to get the franchise owner of our local Culvers to sponsor a midget racing team, but that isn't looking too good. Anyways, I don't get out to it more than once or twice a year because its so far away.

Sorry for my rambling :)

I go race karts whenever there is enough ppl(that i know) to take over a track for a period of time. It happens maybe 3-4 times a year. But my brother and I are starting to be competitive with each other, so we might become members at one of the tracks around here. Havent done all of em, but been to three circuits all indoor. Best place Ive been was the last one with a 0.8 Km track, and a straight line speed of about 65 Km/H (depending on how much u weigh... you would think they would give u a faster kart if u weighed more... ) For you mph ppl :p, its about 40 mph, and about half a mile long. I really love it. Cheapest way of racing, and its really good to learn.

Ah, I was reading you guys stuff about karts and thought you were into the higher powered machines. We run on a sixth mile dirt oval, I'd say the stockers are reaching 60mph by the end of a 250 or so foot straight, the limiteds probably hit 70, they could go faster but the rear tires spin most of the way down.

For those of you who think your really capable of going somewhere in racing, actual circuit racing karts is a good step, I'll probably be moving into shifter karts in the next 2-3 years.

i rarley go karting, because i have to cross a bridge to got there and i cant go with my bike, taking a cab would cost me 40$ and well my bro is always busy and my mom sold her car because she is going back to my home country but the track i go is quite big for an indoor, its 1 km and it has a bridge ,three haripin and a quite long staight,my top speed there was 67 kmh .i went there 3 times, and i played on that track for 40 mins in total.the last time i went ,the track record was 41.xx sec and my lap record was 44.xx .the guy who works there set the record and gt3 helps achive better lap times because of practising racing lines.thx gt3 :)

Nope, have never even been in a kart before...:( I'm too short...:irked:

I live in NYC and I've never SEEN a kart track, let alone been to one...:( I told my dad I wanted to be a racing driver but he didnt take me seriously (we were to poor to go karting anyway). Then I got a computer for school work at 13 and spent endless hours on it NOT doing school work and screwing up my eyes in the process...:banghead: Now I'm 20 years old and I don't even have a drivers license:( My childhood dream just seems hopeless now. Well at least there is my second childhood dream, to design cars...

At the place where i work the height limit is 1.4 meters

also race in regular comps we have there and aven organised a 100 lap once a month, test's out the men from the boys

As ive said in another thread we have the best karters (indoor) in this state as has been proved time and again, with other centres having to cheat to beat us

I'm about 1.54 or something, but the place where I went you have to be 1.6...:irked:

Heh, thanks...I've been to Ballarat once, when I went to see all the old gold thingos around there (also went to Bendigo and a few other towns like that)

It was at the "Big Kart" Big racing circuit in Queensland...it's near the Sunshine Coast...

I feel sorry for you dodge, i remmeber when i went to the goldcoast when i was much younger and i couldnt go on any of the rides, taht sucked. I've been karting a few times but only on a small indoor track. It was good fun though and my lap times were pretty competitive last time.

I've been karting before, and was told that I'm a natural, that most kids my age hop in and get all scared.

I was trying to toss is around, but I wasnt strong enough in the upper body to get the tail out. Hitting one big huge mother****ing tire at about 60km/h because of understeer sure did give me a fright.

I felt like telling the guy that I owed my 'natural kartness' to GT2 (the PS2 hadnt been released at that point) but I didn't want him to think I was a geek.

yeh i remeber teh first time i ever went, i was about 14 and i remember hitting those tires hella hard but by the end of my runs I was throwing it around heaps. I wish i had more time on my hands to do more Karting. Id like to do ameteur car racing to but i dont hav the license.

Heh, I have been on a quad bike around a small sand track though, I hit a tire, and yeah, my balls hurt for a while after that, as I was sitting in the seat at that time...:irked:

Yeah, I can't help but jealous at all those kids whose parents got them into karting when they we're young. Damn my parents!

I bent the steering rods from clipping the tires so many times it wasn't funny.

makes the kart hard to turn when you do that kind of silly ****,
Toss it around (sliding) = S L O W
keep it smooth and you will be fast

The only kart racing I've ever done is shopping kart racing, and my mom ended my career when I was 10. I ran into a display of Miracle Whip Salad Dressing. Oh, FYI, back in those days it was in glass jars not plastic like today. :D

I was getting ready to say the same thing, anything which scrubs off speed through friction will drop your RPMS = BAD, the tires are made to go straight, not slide.

If only I could get this into the drifters minds.

I know what you mean Sominon, but its so obvious...
I was looking at a video of some guy drifting his car around a few corners. And all I could think was how I could go so much faster by taking the appropriate race line, and gripping along it. Its hard to change their minds now. Maybe some real life driving experience could, but what are the chances these ppl will ever get to do that.
