i've just won the 'like the wind' race for the millionth time and i did it with a friggen nissan silvia s14!! haha...i did it all by drafting. how many of you depend on drafting to win some close races?

I don't DEPEND on drafting, but it is quite odd how you win by drafting ^_^,I've done it before.I didn't know anything about drafting when it first happened to me..I just thought my car got pissed off cause it dropped in 2nd place ^_^,hehe

I only draft when I'm on the test course. If I'm on a twisty circuit, I rely on my braking+cornering advantage over the AI.

IM A LOSER I ALWAYS DRAFT.... I LOVE DRAFTING RIGHT BEHIND SOMEONE THEN THE MINUTE THEY BRAKE I PULL OUT AND OUT BREAK THEM !!.. i love GRAN TURISMO.... all i play is GT3 and COUNTER-STRIKE.... LONG LIVE TO THE HACHI AND ak-47

drafting was the only way to win the audi TT race/test track... i was running a TT (obviously) very lightly modded... racing tranny+carbon shaft+racing breather+all 3 stages of chassis lightening

the AI was in the lead the whole time.... then *whoosh* i rubberbanded right past 'em 400m from the finish line... hehe

I like drafting on the test course when I use a car that is less powerful than the computer controlled cars. It makes it feel like a NASCAR race.

i draft on any long straight. its a cool legit way of passing the AI.

and I think you're all daft... i mean draft :p

Always good, especially when your giving the AI the advantage. Well barring on SSR11's main straight, because then the AI pile into the rear of my car on the first corner.

what's drafting?

Getting behind another car so it blocks the wind from you creating sort of a vacuum, no opposite force (wind) against your car means higher acceleration.
Drafting happens 99.9% of the time on straights.

It makes it feel like a NASCAR race.

I know. :D
I'd like to get myself a NASCAR game sometime. Anybody know how realistic are the games when it comes to drafting?
I'm not too keen on watching NASCAR, racing it (even virtually) does intrigue me though. :trouble:

Bumpage!

I didn't bother drafting at the Like The Wind race, I used Stage IV Turbo to punch holes in the air.

However, I have won several longer TC races there totally by drafting. In the Dream Car Pro series I ran a 512-hp Autobacs MR-S against the LM cars. I won the TC race by catching a series of drafts up from last place, winning the 30-minute race by +0.350" over the S2000 LM. It was hard work and took careful planning so that I could unhook from one car and hook up to the car ahead without losing the tow.

In the Pro All-Japan GT, I used a stock 618-hp Oreca Viper. I beat the Pennzoil GT-R by +0.164" in a 30-minute race. Both those victories were impossible without drafting, and they were both some of the more exciting races I've had in GT3, Test Course notwithstanding.

The Formula GT race on the Test course is impossible without drafting unless your one of them good ricers that can keep up in the R390

i was doing the gt world champ on pro trying to gt the calibra and i was using the f/094s to win quick. i got to the tc race and decided to do a qualify just to see how i stacked up against the 787b, gt-one, and r390. by drafting off the 787b i was able to take the pole and skip the whole race :)

That guy Phillip is so stupid... if he had readed the posts above.. he would have known that it was Draft, not drift..

Be nice to him, hes so stupid..

OK, guys, let's bring this back on topic.

In the 5-lap Amateur Dream Car race, that FTO LM is the toughest at TC. But strangely, it's never near the quickest at any other circuit.

Anyway, I did something like what Neon did when I won that race with the ZZ II...just barely enough to hold onto the lead against the FTO, S2000 LM, Altezza LM...so I held back to 5th at the middle of the back straight, and bulit up a head of steam that allowed me to be just fast enough at the line (beating that tough-guy FTO LM by 0.1xx sec).
