That was pretty much the same premonition from the minds of the nationals that I talked to while I was in Japan.

It's funny because while alot (not entirely excluding myself) of people drool and whimper over the higher end Japanese sport and luxury cars, they do the same for our Stingrays and Chargers. I just find that kinda funny. They want our cars way more than we can ever yearn for theirs.

Another thing I'll add since I'm on the subject is that I also find it funny that there are so many people that long to visit Japan. Every national that I talked to was dying to come to the US to see our wide open areas, 'hot cars', tall blondes and fast food joints. It was amazing how many of them wanted to visit the US.

A classic case of "wanting what you can't have"...:)

my dad used to import US cars to australia ( i have been to the US 3 times and planning to go again in july, i have family over there), this is why i like american cars so much, not because i cant have them. infact he (my dad) is still driving around in a chevy suburban that he imported a couple years ago

BTW i do realise you were refering to the japanese

Now that I think about it, I'm was talking about myself more than them (japanese, americans). Since I live in the Philippines, I know I can't have both. If you guys think you've got it hard, come here and go look at what we have to drive.

Yeah, we have a couple, I've only seen one though, a white R33. There's this one guy here that (partly) owns one of the best tuning shop around and he's getting an R34. Plus he owns some nice Evos and a Supra, I believe.

Check out his site:

Here

EDIT: That white Evo TME ran a best of 10.76 @143mph. Don't know if that's been updated already though or if he's already ran better than that.

whoops.. i meant s13

I think it's strange that anyone would want our highly unbalanced American cars. The only reason they want them, is because they can't have them. Any true racing enthusiest would preffer a well balanced car, to a heavy, unbalnced, corner hating, beast IMHO.;)

Ahem.. on the large four to seven lane highways of the United States, a Viper suits just fine. Each type has its following and it is not fair to compare JDM imports to American cars.. they aren't built with the same ideals. And what about DTM?

You're right, they aren't built to cost and look fast, they're built to actually go fast. I'd rather have an R34 GT-R on the freeway than a Viper any day of the week. No offense to the Viper it's a capable machine. Same with the 'vette. They're just a little wasteful for my taste. They're the SUV's of sports cars.

You're joking right? I hope you're joking...
The Vipers and Vettes I have respect for, but the Neon and Focus are pieces of trash. No turbo or SVT will fix what pieces of trash those cars are.

about the neon yes, focus.. well i dont mind the focus. it would need some work but after watching it through wrc im pretty impressed that u.s. car companies made a competitive car (relatively speaking) i also like the ford puma but we wont ever see that in the states.. which makes me pose an interesting question.. Is ford germany U.S. market or dtm? (i mean it is dtm but the parts are essentially the same.. ford just doesnt release its crap here)

That's true the Puma's a nice car, honestly I even like its American counterpart the Cougar is not a bad car, nothing special though. I think Fords are considered USDM pretty much everywhere, even the Cosworths. Not 100% sure though... can anyone verify? When it comes to the rally Focus, it's not even a Focus anymore. Those WRC cars are nothing like their production counterparts and don't really speak on anything except how they would be balanced if they were AWD.

I think its sad... they place high numerical restrictions on WRC in order to place a car, yet the cars that compete are not really anything like those that enter the race... I mean a change in drivetrain is a change in drivetrain...

I wish it was a lower number of produced cars on a certain platform that makes the cars that enter WRC more like a car that a person can acutally buy... We need a new class of rally for this...

Agreed. Furthermore, it doesn't make any difference to me why American cars are built the way they are. I love to carve corners, and most American cars, cannot go around a corner to save their life. To me, that's the essence of a sports car (performance, and overall balance). They are indeed the SUV's of the sports car world. ;)

Yeah, I've definitely seen that car before. I think it was on Zilvia.net, northwestnissans, or maybe drifting.com(horrible forum) that she posted pictures. It didn't have sideskirts on it when I first saw it, so it looked goofy with that super low front.
Anyway, it's definitely a cool car. I really don't like the wheels or the bumper, but at least the bumper she has is better than the fugly Bomex bumper I see all the the time on S15-face conversions and you said she's switching the wheels, so it's all good.

I found a few pics, but I don't feel like resizing them all, so here's one.

what front is in that pic by the way?

Hers is Bomex too actually, but it's less common than the ugly one that you see all the time for some reason.

:yuck:

The style on the one Pergatory posted is commonly referred to as the "Drift Style Bumper." If it's the actual Bomex one than that's not bad. I tend to see the Importfan copies most of the time though. You can tell because they don't line up quite right.

There are a lot of amatuer rally events...just not televised.
