I am able to get within less than a second of gold on license tests with a DS3, my closest without getting it is .002 seconds over. I have a GT2 Clubsport ordered, and i am wondering how much better i could be with the wheel.

edit- my biggest problem with DS3 is throttle control, and those clubsport pedals are really gonna come in handy

At first you wouldn't be better. You just need to get used to it.

Then I think you will start improving - depending on how good you are with the controller it could take a while to adapt. I myself is still better with the DS3 and I have had a wheel for two weeks now. Golded all licenses with the DS3.

Only you can know, if you try.
It takes a lot more driving skills to drive with a wheel than a DS3.

First day I got my DFGT I wanted to return it because I sucked so bad. lol Now I've had it for about 3.5 weeks and I love it. Still haven't mastered it but I'm getting there. Def. more exciting than a DS3.

I have a gt3 and I'm still better with the ds3. It seems like the more rapid movement changes needed the better the ds3 is. I did great on the wheel at Suzzuka and Leguna Seca. But at the ring I can't come close to the blistering fast pace I can set on the ds3. I've tried and I've failed. But the wheel is more fun!

I just got the DFGT yesterday and experienced some of the same frustrations. However, I'm already improving and having more fun with it. One thing that helped was changing which "view" I race in. With my Dual Shock, I used to race from the "outside the car" viewpoint (was I in the minority?). Though not as realistic, I always thought it was easier. Now.....with the DFGT, I race from inside (view where I see the hood) and it's miraculously easier now with the wheel.....plus, it feels like I'm really racing the car now. Very cool.

Ive played with a wheel since gt3, and Ive loved every minute of it. I can't play with a controller, so it is probably the same idea. Just depends on what you are used to.

I got a DFGT today and got told the best way to get used to it was go for Gold in all my licenses tried for an hour and a half and still get no where near my first gold, Its going to be a long haul :grumpy:

First time I ever sat down with a wheel, I was a second better than my best in one of the license tests. Needless to say, I never looked back. I've been driving real cars for a long time, and do a little bit of amateur racing. Wheel feels much more natural to me.

Couldn't agree anymore. First day I went back to DS3 cause I found wheel way too hard. Started practicing and now I'll never play without a wheel again. And to answer the question I def put up better times now with a wheel. Allows me to be more precise with steering and throttle control.

Good stuff. I am mostly impressed with the brake. I can control the brake so well now compared to DS3.

All in all, wheel > DS3. Not sure how DFGT compares to G27 though.
