I dont see the merit in having a CC and debit card in your wallet if you have no intention of using them for everyday things like lunch etc. If your wallet gets nabbed, there go the cards.

thats true...but i always keep them about my person...if someone steals them they'll leave with a smashed jaw....

its just that you never know when you may need some money in an emergency...

I dont want to start an argument, but I think Scotlands crime rate (while still existant) is a lot less out of control then here.

i dont doubt that for a second mike...but we have our gangland and seedy underworld with drug traffickers, protsitution and protection rackets...same as most places....albiet on a smaller scale because we are a small country...

Not discussing crime rates, just answering Rumbles question. At the moment I have, what translates into US$ 0.3 in my wallet... Plastic - always plastic...
 
I would think using a credit card in place of money is just safer because if someone steals your wallet you don't lose your money because you can't say "well I had $500 in there" with credic cards you have proof and you can cancel it. It's just that you might go over board and max out your card or not have the money come time to pay the monthy bill.

Unfortunately Mike, TurboSmoke is right. Whilst I don't think that Scotland could match up to the level of violence in South Africa (at least as it is portrayed in the British Media), there is quite a lot of crime in the major Scottish cities. It's sad, but true.

Anyway, on the cash thing, I've usually got £10 - £30 with me, unless I'm on a night out, when £50 is pretty much the budget.
 
It depends, usually something around 50EUR in 10EUR bills and some plastic.
 
I almost never carry cash so I voted zero. But when I do it's usually $20.00 (what most ATM's dispense). And that $20.00 gradually dwindles back to zero.
 
i have money in the bank but tend not to spend much. If i spend it its a fair bit at one time 50, 100, 200 as i save up to buy somting special then buy it.

In Holland and Belgium, you're required to always carry a minimum of 5EUR (or 10, I'm not quite sure).

So I really am crazy for carrying so much cash on me at all times I guess. I am still the only $500+ voter.:(

I just hate credit cards and debit cards. I have seen so many people load up with items they want to buy, they go to swipe the plastic and the card doesn't work. They are left standing there looking like the tool of the week whether it was their fault or not.

I like cash, it's quick, it's simple.

By $500+ dollars I mean $500++++ dollars :lol:, I am not saying the amount becuase quite frankly I know it is ridiculous. I carry that much with me because like I said don't really like credit or debit cards. Whenever I am out and I see something I like I know I will have enough cash to cover it.

Yes, weird, I know. But come on, you got to expect weird from me. :D
 
I hope, for your own sake, that you keep it duct taped to your body man...your wallet must be FAT considering most places don't accept 100's. Now i can see why you said the people that got ur wallet must be happy...
 
The concept of money in which you speak baffles me. . . I thin kthat green stuff is normally spent by the time a so-called paycheck comes, but that really is bill reminder day to me :lol:
 
I don't usually carry money with me, mostly because there's nothing on a daily basis that I would spend it on.

Need to go out for Christmas shopping. So, I usually carry $100-$150 when I am actually shopping.


But usually, On the low end of $20-$60
 
i carry both a debit and credit card and about 10 squid in change for lunch and the daily sport to read at work ;)
 
I hate using credit/debit cards, I only use them for online purchases and that isn't very often. The last time I used a debit card, other than an online purchase, was for a pizza delivery. The asshole wrote in a 7 dollar tip on the creit card receipt, after I gave him 3 bucks cash. I called the police but they refused to arrest him because what he did wasn't considered illegal. If you don't write 0 on the receipt when they hand it over to you to sign, they can write in an amount no higher than 25% of the food cost legally. Make sure you check your credit card bill if you pay by credit card with food deliveries!

Now, I carry about 200 to $300 in cash in my wallet, and about 600 to $700 in cash in my money clip.
