I tried with the ds3 and i am usually about 40 seconds over from bronze which is terrible. How much easier is it with a wheel?

Also are there specific tunes or settings I should do in order to help me Gold all 3 events? Such as TCS, ABS, skid recover, etc?

I can only speak by my self, so here we go.

Ive never had a FFB wheel before and my first impression on the wheel was terrible, i thought i had just spent 500 bucks for nothing.

I gave it a second shot, and in 20 minutes i was in love with it.

A clear example i think its monza, with the DS3 i was behind bronze by 2-4 seconds every single time ... with the G27 i got Silver on a few attempts.

But bottom line is, its not magical, You will have to get used to it, and practice ... if you do so, game experience will improve a lot and you will never want to play racing games with your DS3 again.

for a lot of people used to playing with a controller playing with a wheel will be alot harder to get used to. but like anything practice makes perfect, and eventually you will be able to go quicker then you ever can with a controller.

it took me a good 3 months of solid use before i got used to it and started to see improved times.

when i built my cockpit and starting racing with reverse mounted pedals like in a real car i shaved another couple of 10ths off my times!

wheel is always better IMO, but sometimes not always practical. for a game like GT5 i dont think you have to have a wheel, the game was designed for controllers so the times can be beaten by a controller.

Umm i don't think it was designed for controllers, almost all racing games these days are based around wheels and then adapted for pads.

I played with the controller on all GT's untill GT5 cam out and my wife bought me the Driving Force GT wheel.
I have yet to try GT5 with the DS3 because driving with the wheel is awesome.
Although it will take some getting used to, especially if like me you don't drive for real.
I think I am faster in rear wheel drive cars with the wheel as you can feel where the edge of grip is, which I imagine will be useful for that car (I havent got there yet, busy tuning crappy cars for fun).

wheel certainly helps in the X1 Challenge. the steering precision a wheel gives you is the most important benefit you'll get for the X1 challenge. throttle and brake isn't that much of a problem, wheel or DS3, because the X1 has tons of grip and wouldn't spin even if you treat the throttle as an on-off switch.

Ive played all of the GT-games with a dualshock controller but now when ive seen how hard the vettel challenge actually is im definately gonna get a wheel even though i got bronze in monza the other 2 tracks are just too hard.. Just gonna have to wait until they release the new thrustmaster ^^
