How realistic are the cars in GTS?

If I'm not mistaken, even the engine sounds are still far from real in this game. Not sure about this example but the R18 in-game doesn't sound like a turbodiesel at all. And you might also see that it spits out flame from its exhaust, even though oil burners don't just act like that at all..
 
I sure hope it's not a realistic representation of the real-life cars, for the sake of the people who actually pay a lot of money for them. In the game, some of the worst driving cars are ones that are ridiculously expensive in real life.
