How the hell do I fix the headlights?

Good job you don't have to do it in a Hyundai I20, which has headlights like candles (I mean IRL of course. It isn't in game).

But this is the thing with saying my TV needs to be set up correctly, not a single other thing I do on my tv has this much trouble with brightness. Not a single videogame/movie/tv show/web browsing.. nothing. I'm playing Thief on my TV and it's played in shadows and darkness and I have absolutely no issues getting around or playing the game. The ONLY item I run into trouble with crushing darkness is GT6. In most games when I adjust a brightness it makes things brighter without totally destroying the picture. In GT6, with the EV setting (not really a brightness setting) it may make things a bit easier to see in darkness but the brightness of much lighter objects just get blown up and washed out meaning I'm constantly changing the EV settings. It's very frustrating and like I stated before, this is the only game I have any sort of issue with.

This is interesting, because I have played dozens of games over the years with the same problem on my old TV before I found the hidden menu and have seen many others that likely would have been as bad. I have played quite a few as well that are just as bad as GT5 on my current TV, and have seen exactly the same thing on other people's equipment. I have also encountered exactly the same effect watching many movies and TV shows. Currently I'd say I have just as much if not more touble seeing in the dark areas on GTA5 as I do in GT6. It is clearly an issue at at least Willow and Ascari that the headlights do not light up the track sufficiently, and the game in general is too dull and dark from cockpit view. But I've never seen it become undrivable except when I tried the obvious of the Nordschliefe with no headlights.

No idea why it would be so different for different people, but GT5 and 6 both seem to have a lot of things that affect different people differently. I do hope they fix the tracks that aren't right. I think Daytona might have a similar issue with the lights not being strong enough but there isn't really any need for headlights there as it's so bright from the track lights. I honestly think the Nordschleife is too bright at night, but I'd probably just as soon they leave that alone.

There does seem to be a tunnel vision effect to racing in the night, which is unrealistic since my piece of crap Blazer lights up the road better than a state of the art GT6 LeMans car...what I do in league races is pause and raise/lower exposure as quick as I can. Not a perfect solution but better than changing stuff on my tv beforehand and suffering from immense glare when it's bright out on the track. Sometimes I have exposure at max for the whole race but not often since I get headaches from that pretty quick.
