I use the default X button and its like pushing pedal to the metal or nothing. I have to tap it like a fool when I accelerate out of corners and its very hard now when I drive the more extreme cars, I spin out constantly. What got me wondering is that when I play online I dont hear the obvious sound from someone tapping X, so im figuring there is some other way, or does everyone play with wheel and pedals?

I changed my controls. I now accelerate and break with the left and right paddles, works well and allows you to give it some gas without putting your foot to the floor!

I've always used the thumbsticks when I play with a Dualshock controller and R2 and L2 for shifting. For accelerating and braking; I usually use the full range of motion of it. It's hard to explain but I will try.

Instead, I don't just go up and down on the thumbstick... I follow the contour of where the joystick comes out of. For example, if I want to decelerate gently from full throttle I point my thumb up and to the left a little bit until I get to where I want to be. I do the same with the steering.

L2 Trigger = Brake
R2 Trigger = Accelerate

Much easier to control throttle and bake going in and out of corners.

uhm you do realize that you can also use the dualshock thumbsticks to accelerate?
I changed my accel and brake to R2 and L2 however.

I played all the other GTs with the controller but bought a wheel for this one.
Does the game utilize the pressure sensitive buttons?
I would do what everyone else has suggested and use the triggers instead.

L2 and R2 for brake/accel. Right stick for gears.

Used to have them the other way around, but I found it much better to do it like this. At least to me. I use the DS3 only when my family is trying to sleep, otherwise a DFP.
