How to Calibrate TV for Gaming?

Not sure where to post this thread about TV calibration. But how is everyone calibrating your TV for best picture quality? Especially the Brightness. I have the Brightness set to 73 on my 55" Vizio LCD . I also have my TV set to Game Mode.

Thanks for any advice!

Best pictures is a matter of taste really. Some people like more contrast than others etc.. There's probe to set your TV to be close to true color if that's what youre after.

As for the setup, you really want to turn off all enhancing pictures stuffs but that's what the gaming mode is doing tho usually. You might wanna search forum post on people having the same TV as you and what they changed and why.

Thanks my friend!

Pretty tough to tell you how to set up brightness/contrast/color etc since it's highly dependent on the model of TV and the room characteristics/lighting. Basically I think what you want to do is find a good image you can use as a reference and adjust the picture so that the image looks natural and not over-saturated. You want the brightness set so that dark parts of the image aren't just a black smudge - shades of dark grey should be distinguishable. Color should be adjusted so that skin tones look right - not too red, and so that the colors aren't over saturated and bleeding into each other. Same for contrast. white parts of the image should be clean white, but not so harsh that they bleed. Basically you want to try and avoid the trap of wanting things to "pop" too much. Natural is what you want to shoot for in general.

And yes for gaming you want to use "game mode" if the TV has that - and check to make sure all the processing options are turned off in case the TV's Game mode doesn't turn that all off automatically. Also, you may want to turn off the RGB full setting in the game console's settings as that can have a negative effect on some TVs...
