How to do the Top Gear bowling challenges?

I'm on the B Class one and I just can't seem to get anywhere near the required amount of points. I'm using a Mustang and I'm sliding the car about trying to hit more pins but nothing is working! Am I supposed to do 360° spins through the pins or something? :confused:
 
For me hitting the pins at an angle seems to work ( not drifting if i can help it ) making the pins you hit take out others in the group takes a few go's though.
 
Like an idiot I was doing these in a MINI...find the biggest, longest, heaviest car you can!

For me, I found it important to go through them fast instead of slow. The speed pushed the cones out further, knocking more down.
 
Get a fairly big car, preferably a muscle car. As you approach the pins, make sure to knock down the line of pins. As you get closer, press the handbrake, turn towards the main body of the pins, and apply accelerator. For the ones on corners, just drift through them, and try to hit the line of pins through hammerhead.
 
Speed plays a role in these challenges. If you slow down too much, your points will not be as high.
I was slowing down for one of my runs to get better angles at some of the clusters and failed by 2,000 points. Next run I zoomed by or power slid with as much speed as possible through every cluster and beat it by 34,000 points.
 
I just head into them straight and fast. Aim for gold ones if possible but more pins are better than 2 gold ones. I just aim for the largest gathering and go as fast as I can. No e-brake no slowing down. The momentum will knock more than what you need to pass. Maybe wider cars help but i run what i am already driving.
 
Two words.....Modified Hummer....plus dont skid into the cones drive fast through them from memory it tops out at B class

I second that. I also want to add that long FWD are pretty good too, as you can e-brake the tail out and maintain good speed.
 
The best technique I've found for myself involves taking the Audi RS2, handbraking sideways into the heart of a pin set, trying to nab gold pins on the way in or out (depending on layout), and throwing it into reverse to spin back around and complete a 360. The long wagon body and quick AWD fliparounds work well.

The expectation/challenge is for you to swing through in a curve, nabbing white pins and then knocking out the gold, either yourself or with flying pins.
 
I managed to obliterate my last score last night by simply doing 360° spins through the pins, hitting 99% of them including the gold ones. It's not a pretty sight but it gets the job done!
 
Another thing to keep in mind is depending on the pin layout on the track, you can speed through one cluster and hit the next cluster while the score stays on the screen, which means it goes up much higher.
