I guess I'll start with quite an important question.

Installing to the HDD isn't compulsory but it is highly recommended. Thing is, I'm technologically retarded (I'm not the only one) and I thought some instructions on how to perform the install and some pros and cons for choosing not to do the install would help a bunch of people.

Ok your turn :p

You'll find it as an option in the options menu, just search around a bit and you'll see it. Pros: Shorter load times for tracks and cars the first time you use them, cons: takes 40 - 50 mins to install.

I had always wondered how to install things onto the PS3...thanks a million! Regarding the pros and cons, it sounds just like the 360. But, that sounds too obvious.

Another (potential) con would be the physical space the install takes up - apparently 6.4/10Gb. Depending on your housekeeping tactics, you might have to start deleting demos to free up room.

After installing gamedata, the loading times are imo 3times faster than streaming.

Example (with data installed): Tracks/Races are full loaded before the loadingbar reaches 100%. (some are ready, while the bar shows about 30%)

You make 45 minutes wait sound like a bad thing I mean we waited 5 years for the game what's 45 minutes :p

I bet, after the game starts, you will see a message about installing to the HDD. Two buttons. You will probably have to press left or right, then x to install.

Most games ask you to install them before you even get to the main menu on PS3.;)

After this, a game system save file will be created, and that has the game skip the prompt for installation every next time you start it up. Once this has happened, the installation could be anywhere in the game. Who knows where it might be??? The main menu??? The options menu??? OR THE SECRET CODE MENU!?!?! OH NO!

No, you haven't answered my question. You're just babbling like a 7th grader.

And FYI the game doesn't prompt you to install on startup.

:scared:
OK, well my second guess is the secret code menu in the options menu from the main menu after loading then saving your game with modified settings.
Winner gets the other's cookies at lunch tomorrow.

If I uninstall GT5P to make space, will it keep my saved game?

In the PS3 game menu there's 'game data' and that has nothing to do with saves. You can delete it, and all that happens is you'll have to reinstall the game again later. Save files are in a different place. You'll see.

You still haven't answered my question.

Well, if I must...

TECHNOLOGICAL: resulting from improvements in technical processes that increase productivity of machines and eliminates manual operations or operations done by older machines

RETARDED: slow or limited in intellectual or emotional development or academic progress

Seeing how the game is about developing, rather academically, the skills to operate all 1000+ technological machines in the game... AND the game is all about showcasing the technological progress... AND to experience the entire game you must not be slow...

I say... no GT for you.
Do what you want. Jeez

Mr. BradKinder, I took the liberty of merging your last two posts in this thread. Try to avoid double posting in such a short time period.

Can you install data at a later time after playing with the game for a while, perhaps even saving a few times?
I believe you can install it piecemeal while you're playing.

I mean to ask: If you say "no" to the initial install is it "not now" or "never"? I just want to play around with stuff in the game before I go to bed. I don't want to be staring at a progress bar for an hour that I could be sleeping. I do at some point want to install the data, but when I put the disc in tonight, its game time not waiting time.
