I was curious of exactly how I can keep the original stock sound of my car while upgrading it?

Is it only the racing exhaust that changes how the car sound? If so, can I purchase everything else and just keep the stock exhaust?

Will buying a racing intake and manifold, turbo, ecu, etc effect how the car sound?

Don't install any exhaust. You can still install a exhaust manifold and the sport cat, but don't install any exhaust itself. That retains the original sound.

Turbo will add the blow off valve sound and the racing transmission will add gear whine. Nothing else changes anything sound wise.

I don't blame you for not wanting to change the exhaust on your cars, because on some of them they sound really terrible :yuck: .

Yeah, I don't touch any exhaust parts if it's a big V8. However I'm sure the sports cat does make an aural difference, like the exhaust itself...

You must take into account the Engine Upgrades, By Stage 3 the Rev Limiter will have raised a substantial amount, sometimes it doesn't make a large difference, but some cars sound very electronic above the stock rev limiter.

Also consider that more power will allow the engine to rev more freely, and certainly more freely than it would in stock condition. To truly maintain the stock sound while driving, it would be necessary to adjust gearing so that the engine speed will advance appropriately under full-throttle acceleration. You could also limit your own inputs so that the engine doesn't wind up so readily, but then why bother making the modifications?

No it does not.

The sound is more distinct when you are in third person view and change the view to see the front of the car while revving or driving.

Oh well I drive with roof/hood cam so I guess I wouldn't know.

It does need to be louder though...

If you add a supercharger then remove it, it will still produce the whine like its still installed.

I happened with one car, a good while ago last year, perhaps it's since been rectified with an update. Glad for it though.

Digressing, I wish the sound generally was more realistic (with all camera views), especially with turbos. And with racing exhausts, there's no way the premium Esprit sounds like a Camaro, and vice versa, in real life.

It's because PD couldn't be bothered to do the sounds of GT5 properly. In my opinion the cars in previous GT games sounded much better, but GT5 sounds are more realistic in terms of BOV, transmission whine and that's about it.

Camaro + Semi-Racing Exhaust is awesome.

I have never seen that to be true.

Almost anything with a supercharger equipped makes the noise, alteast i can hear it through my system. Best way to hear it is too look at the car with L1 then rev. Engine noise is much louder.
