Can't afford it
When GT5P was announced, there was a general concensus that the it was basically a demo and when it was released, reviewers and gamers still voiced their concern regarding the low content of the game.
Although I've been playing GT5P since March, I've yet to grow tired of the game. With enough imagination (and ample time to boot), I'm pretty sure I'll be able to prolong this game till the GT5 proper is released. In this thread I'll be logging my daily game starting of course with today.

This is my setup:

Approx. time of play: 30mins
Notes: One of my goal is to be in the top 100 in all the tracks in GT5P in the GT-R

Other cars used: Lotus, Ferrari F40, Corvette Z06

I also happened to upgrade my HDMI cable today to a better quality cable (that supposedly supports 1080p) than what I had before and the difference is noticeable enough to justify the money spent.

I don't know whether this thread wii be closed or not but for now:

Wednesday July 9 2008

Mode: Online
Car: Nissan R35 GT-R
Track: Suzuka
Game: Online Time Trial
Approx. time of play: 30mins
Notes: I'm still stuck at 2:11. 9 which puts me in the 280 range ranking. But I'm determine to at least break the 2:11 mark.

Car: Nissan R35 GT-R
Track: Fuji F
Game: Arcade Time Trial
Approx. time of play: 15 mins
Notes: Last week I did a 1:50.1 that put me 93rd in the ranking but at the beginning of the week, my time was relegated to 103rd. Today I finally clocked a sub 1:50 at 1:49.4 that put me in at #47.

Mode: Offline
Car: Nissan R35 GT-R
Track: Fuji F
Game: Arcade Race (10 laps, AI-81, Tires=S2, PP=Stock)
Approx. time of play: 20mins
Notes: A great race where I came in 3rd behind a Ford GT and a Tuned Lotus Elise.

Mode: Offline
Car: Ferrari F430
Track: Suzuka
Game: Arcade Time Trial
Approx. time of play: 15 mins
Notes: The best I can do with the F430 is in the 2:20 range.

Mode: Offline
Car: Nissan R35 GT-R
Track: London
Game: Arcade Race (10 laps, AI=81, Tires=S2, PP=Stock)
Approx. time of play: 12mins
Notes: Another great race against the AI but this time I turned the table and beat a Ford GT. Won on the very final lap.

I have to mention that one of the joy I derive from GT5P is watching the replays. I just cannot get enough of them.
Advice for AI racing (Arcade): For tighter, more challenging races, don't use naything more than an S3 tires and keep your PP at stock bHp and Weight.

I don't think this should be closed. Other people should Post their Play times. :-P haha

he brings up a good point. PD wouldn't just throw out a demo unless it was a demo. This is a true prologue. I mean after all it is PD not some company like codemasters(stunts).

To think about it. I had more fun and Play time in GT5 "Prologue" Then in full rFactor and GTR2 games...
It's funny how just a "demo" (cough cough ;)) gives you so much enjoyment.

That's me as well, I've spent probably 50x more time with GT5P then with rFactor.

I think it's because GT5P is so easy to just pick up and race. rFactor is super complicated and it takes alot of time to just get into a race.

I always imagined once GT got an online mode I would drop the online PC sims like a bad habit, and I have...even my favorite, NASCAR 2003

I like this thread. It's a great idea in my opinion.

Personally I think this is a constructive thread.. Why would you close something that attempts to create creativity...I have to mix it up as well..So I don't get bored.

So once again, most members on these boards miss the point of the thread completely..

That is rediculous to say the mods are going to close it..That is really none your business..

-----

I do the weekly TT a few times a week to get faster and such
I play WE and PP750
I try to improve my Free lap times in PP750 and WE

You tell em, lol! I wouldn't mind doing a thread like this myself. Too bad I didn't come up with this idea. :(

I like this thread also. Since I started GT5P I haven't been playing my other games. Now if I just had a wheel, I'd be set. Keep us posted.:)👍

Once I finally purchased the F1, I stopped playing.
Time to play MGS4 for the third time :dopey:
PD really need to update the game.

I think rFactor is simple to race just like in GT series. But it's harder to drive cars in GT5P then in rFactor. So GT5P seems more sim. As well rFactor seems to becoming outdated now, no new updates, sound (big one), physics, feel of cars. etc.

I think PD gave us enough content for a year. Only thing missing is Online Private rooms. that's all for now.

Ive been playing since release date as well. Apart from playing games like GTA IV and Metal Gear Solid when release i have always come back to GT.

Although i love the game and am a car enthusiast, i still think PD need to release something new soon. I'm not talking about another set of online races but something like private rooms or some new cars, or even a track.

This would keep GT alive alot longer and bring people back that have gone off it because of the 2 main tracks and around 15 same cars that race.

Just the Online Private rooms will keep it alive. Think about it. Endurance Racing. 20 laps, 30laps, 50 laps. All with GTP members, and all respected. It would be good to have Voice Communication as well.
Sure we don't have damage yet, or tire wear. But 50 laps with you're buddies will be one heck of experience enough to bring you back.

GT5 Prologue is defenetly the PS3 game iwe spend most time on.
In fact it was the main reason why I bought my PS3. Ofcourse other factors also made me buy the PS3 but I still think there is lots of play time even its only a prologue. Also it cant be that long until the update. I think I read somewhere the update was supposed to come in August or anyone know when its due ?

I have read august too, so hopefully at E3 this/next week PD will be saying something.

Lets hope is good!

I like your wheel and display setup myke6699. The red BIC is a nice touch too.

Want to prolong prologue? I have an idea for an online race that requires only GTP members to be in the race (so it pretty much requires private rooms). It would be a relay, 2 people per team(decide the teams ahead of time), 1st lap is done by 1 person on the team (also decided ahead of time) second person stays on the grid and waits for their team mate to come around and drive through them and park. This repeats until 3 laps are completed. Kinda weird idea but could prove to be fun.

Yeah, but it will be hard, if not impossible, to get an all GTP-grid. Would have to wait till Private rooms. But then, when we have private rooms, Ill start running championships here akin to my one for F1:CE:

i was just being sarcastic.

i just prolonged my joy... by trying new cars. I bought that 76 Ferrari boy is that car fun and i got an awesome tune on it. took it to the lower levels and placed high with it.

I think Prologue IS becoming boring. IMO there are only 2 tracks that are really interesting to race: Fuij & Suzuka. We need a private rooms update, but we also need, DESERVE, a new track. Nurburgring would be nice - that would provide a massive boost to the Prologue experience & keep it interesting until GT5 appears.

Boring is to me, a word for people with no imagination. Let's face it, even sex can be boring.

Err... "imagination" isn't the first thing that comes to mine in the world of sim racing - I don't think we should be obliged to squeeze more & more content out of GT5P (I won't touch the sex comment :scared:).

The selection of cars & the excellent physics offer a lot of replay value. However, the driving experience would really benefit from having a few more good tracks to tackle.

Funny, because isn't that the point? To give the impression of driving a real car? Like your imagination but a little bit more real?

I would have thought playing games re-enacting real life and imagination go hand in hand.

Hopefully the much anticipated Fall Update will address that. Don't get me wrong, I long for the day when the full GT5 is released but I've never been much of a complainer. Even as a kid, I don't remember having much toys. Just a skateboard. It's only 2 years ago that I bought my first console, a PS2.
