How to properly start GT7?

Dear all, I am very new to GT7 and need some guidance. I have PS5 Pro and play it with a controller. I made an effort to familiarize myself with the game, but I do jot 100% know the path to master it:
1. Do I need to pass all licenses before I do anything else?
2. Then I do all the menu books and collect cars?
3. Is there a right sequence for things?
4. Do I need to tune cars to be able to win races? How do I know how yo get the best set up?
5. What is the best way to learn to play with a controller?

Before starting GT7, start with My First Gran Turismo. It's the demo version of GT7 found in the online PlayStation store (in your console). Best way to find the demo is to type in the full name in the PS Store's Search tab. By completing all events in the demo, you'll be awarded with 18 cars that you can access the next time you log on to GT7.

After that, you can follow along with the Menu books, as some of them ask you to do certain things, such as "obtain the National B License." I think the highest license you need for the Menu Books at the end is Normal National A.
A lot of the menu books award you with cars as you complete their events.

Depends on the event. Some will require you to tune your cars to meet Performance Point requirements, but there are some events where you might be able to get away with using a bone-stock car. The GT7 Car Tuning subforum here will be handy for finding the tunes you need for specific races or cars.

As for learning with the controller, My First Gran Turismo might be able to help you get familiarized with the controls. Same goes with the license tests in GT7.

There are some events in World Circuits that go by the following Performance Point (PP) terms:
No PP Limit - As long as the car fulfills the car restrictions (if any, such as the car needing to be from a certain country), you can enter with a fast car for an easy win.

Suggested PP - While the game suggests to tune your car around a certain PP range, you can still upgrade you car beyond that suggested number... As long as you car meets any other restrictions, if any.

PP Limit: ### - Your car must be at this Performance Point limit or under.

Other than what mentioned above ,these are things i could add .

Don't spend credits to buy cars and high tune them.
The game usually provides cars to proceed to the next menu level.
The main target is to reach level 39 that allow you to unlock the 4 griding races .
So you will be able ( if you want) to gain more credits for any use.

A rule that must follow is that you Never ever let an invitation car or cars to pass without buying them.
When you realise the WHY , it would be too late in the future.

Also DON'T do engine swaps till reach level 50 , most of them are nothing more than a alternative way to spend credits.
You don't need to gold all licences or CE's , you can do it at the future , instead you can take part at TT's with a bronze or silver awards that can give you at least 250k or 1 million each week .

In general we don't spend credits and note that you're gonna need some cars from LCD to proceed successfully in some menus as Historical for example.

At dealer store you can buy Any car whenever you want but at LCD you have to wait couple of months and more to have the chance again.

Some cars are only purchasable IF you have an invite from the brand BUT it can be very difficult to get those invites as you obtain them only with 4* and 5* daily marathon reward tickets (you get one of those for doing 42,195km each day) and the stats are quite low so you may wait a veeeeeeery long time before getting some invites.

And those invites last only one month (or less?) so if you don't buy the car(s) locked behind the invite, you may wait a very long time before getting another opportunity.

If you don't care about getting all cars, or completing all extra café menus, you may ignore the invites. But I'd advise you do not. May be you'll change your mind along the way and then it can take years before getting THE invite you miss (or missed at a time you did no care)

Yes, whenever/if it happens you will not directly recieve credits/car/parts but be allowed to purchase a "limited offer" of a car from the brand central.
 


So for example you'll see, those three cars in "Ferrari" have the purple envelope above them in Brand Central. That means you can only buy them whilst you have an active invitation

It's the same repeated for a few other brands, not all. So you can't buy them whenever you want, only for a month after you receive that brand invitation. If you don't buy them, you might wait a long while to get that opportunity again!

To maximise your chances of getting invites do the daily marathon as often as you can, even if you just load up the game and let a car wall ride at SSRX and then switch off. Most of the time it won't give you much, but ultimately it does add up to millions in freebies.

Also, sport mode time trials are a handy bump in credits each week.

I think you get the answer from all the members above , so what's left is to wish you a pleasant drive through the game and more pleasant days the new year is coming.

Perhaps some things isn't accurate in now days due to updates that took place from the realise of the game but definitely you can find an answer to any questions you might have by searching at GT planet community.

  • The game will partly guide you through the initial phases. Do the menus.
  • Collect the 100 or so free cars to begin with. Don't buy any cars from Brand Central at first, you don't need to.
  • In addition to the menus, do licence tests, circuit experience and missions, they give you free cars and CE lots of quick credits.
  • Once you have unlocked time trials and weekly challenges, do these every week. Easy credits.
  • Follow a car acquisition strategy. Get the free cars first. Don't buy stuff from Brand Central at first. But if you get an invitation to buy a car from Brand Central, buy that car. It may be months before you get that invitation again. Buy all pre-2001 cars from the Used car dealership first (except those you will get for free). Next the cars from Legend cars dealership, starting with the relatively affordable ones (under 3 million credits). Buy the Group C cars, they are competitive.

But most important of all: don't make GT a grinding chore. Keep it fun and entertaining. If you get OCD and try to get credits as quickly as possible, grinding can bore you out.

Done with My first GT. Got all 18 cards. Now will follow the approach you have suggested.

May I ask a simple question? Each tine I access GT7, I need to go through intro video. It is lovely, granted, but long:-) Cannot find a wat to skip it

Thank you very much! First of, I am very impressed and inspired by what GT7. I did play iRacing and ACC just a tiny bit as my friend has a proper sim rig. But GT7 is also awesome!

And this forum is top notch! Very helpful. Beyond what I was hoping:-)

Got my first invite to purchase a car. It is just I do not have enough money for it! Am I right to assume this invite is till Feb and I have time to get enough money?

The most expensive invite is the Ferrari one, as it allows you to buy 3 expensive cars.
Famine's advice is correct: the CE is the quickest way to collect credits early in the game. This is why saving up your credits initially is so important, I always tried to have at least 3 million available to have a stash for these early eventualities.

Just to clarify, when you say Circuit experiences, you mean from the menu book? And also…how do I access Tsukuba online time trial?
