How to remove chassis reinforcement? Or replace AE cars ruined by that?

The title says it all. I have some AE cars with enhanced rigidity that I wish I could reverse or replace. Ideas?

If you do not have a backup save from before adding rigidity then the only way to fix it is to delete your game save and start over again with a fresh new game. 👍

Does this work?

  1. Delete the game data
  2. Load the vanilla game (ver. 1.00)
  3. Remove AE cars from your garage
  4. Re-download AE cars DLC
  5. New AE cars in your garage (yay!)

That might work, but didn't PD mess around with some things in the save compatibility between update versions? It might not work.

Back up and delete your save data - just so you don't lose it. When you start the game it'll say something like "game save not found, would you like to load back up?", something like that. Load the back up, hopefully it was made before you did the chassis reinforcement. It's usually a day or two behind your current back up anyway so it's worth a shot.

Thanks, everyone. I think I'm screwed unless PD makes rigidity enhancement reversible.

I tried deleting everything and reinstalling, but my save game data won't forget I had those cars and added rigidity (and they show up even without downloading them after the re-install). I can't sell them, destroy them, or leave them in a bad neighborhood.

Since my game is 98% complete, I've earned >300,000,000 credits, I own 250 cars (including everything >6,000,000), I'm not interested in restarting this game.

Oh well....

The AE cars are a separate game data file; mine is 23 kb and has a different date from the 1.05 game data file. You might try deleting that smaller DLC game data file. Though I'm confident you'll need to re-download the AE cars if you do delete that DLC file, I'm not optimistic you'll get fresh versions. I suspect that's tied to your save data file, and the game data files have nothing to do with it.

If you do try it, please report back. I also ruined at least two of those AE cars installing that chassis stiffener.

Did it really ruin them or have you just not adjusted your tuning to suite the reinforcement?

Also is it really the same case of it supposedly making cars worse like in GT5?

Good idea creating this thread, I think this deserves some attention. :)
You might want to create a thread in the GT6 suggestions area for this.

In GT5, engine tuning and body lightening were irreversible, but in GT6 you can toggle them on or off. 👍
Would be nice to see this feature added to Enhanced Rigidity as well. 💡

One of the reasons I had so many cars in GT5 was because of the permanent engine and weight mods.
I would have 2 or 3 of same car, so that I kept one that had no permanent mods....
...but its a bit harder to acquire cars in GT6 than GT5, especially the 20M ones. :irked:

Ruin is a harsh word, but I have an easier time driving the flaccid cars than rigid ones ;) I just wish I could return the AE cars to stock since they are irreplaceable.

I still suck at suspension tuning, so I heavily rely on Praiano and MC Hami.

Praiano initially tuned the GT40 '69 with reinforcement. I didn't like it. Then he revised the tune a couple months later--without reinforcement. I still didn't like it on my reinforced chassis. So I spent another $20,000,000 and applied his revised tune on the new car without reinforcement--and I love it!

I'd like to give my AE cars the same chance to shine.

I thought I deleted everything, but I didn't see a separate file for the AE cars. Where can I find it?

Well crap, I've reinforced every car I have bought. I've never driven those AE cars. I only got 5. I went for the Million credits instead (Amazon).

I apply the chassis stiffening first, before I do the tuning.

I do tune my own cars though. Does the chassis stiffening change the tuning that much?

I was under the impression that chassis stiffening just preserved the tunes integrity for a longer period of time.

Am I wrong? Should I stop reinforcing the chassis?

Better drivers and tuners than I say it worsens understeer in cars that are prone to do that. My observations are consistent with theirs. When I try to compensate with suspension tuning, I mess it up--because I suck at that.

Done. Hopefully someone who counts will see it and set the gears in motion.
Not going to hold my breath though...but you just never know.

I personally have not found adverse effects applying the enhanced body stiffening.
I actually applied the same tune to the '69 Ford GT RC referenced by Jbaffoh with no issues.

But plenty of others besides Jbaffoh have posted about having issues with it...
...and praiano63 stated yesterday he is not applying rigidity enhancement to his tunes anymore.

So, either way, I think the option to toggle it on and off is a good idea.

The AE cars are basically a little higher performance than non-AE versions with some tweaks.
The combined value of 25 AE cars in the USA GS GT6 is probably at least 10M credits.

Since I didn't know what to expect with the impending "update" (1.05), whether they would modify the credit limit again, or make the RB Standard grind less lucrative, or something else, I popped for a second GT40 (and the XJ13 Chrome to complete my 20m collection). I think Praiano's latest tune is much better with the floppy chassis. :) Better turn in and less plowing for my style.

As nowadays I almost exclusively drive in the "no tuning" rooms, yes, those cars are really ruined for me.

It's in the same "PS3 Game Data" section that the regular GT6 game data file is found. In my case, it's the first file in that section, right above the "regular" game data. Hitting triangle gives you the "Information" option, which will show the file size, date, and in the case of the "regular" game data which version number it is. As mentioned before, the files may have different dates.

Seems silly for PD to allow for issues like this. Don't understand their logic behind not making it deselectable/removable like everything else. I mean they went ahead and changed the weight and engine tuning options so that we could install them but still remove them unlike in GT5. So why not for reinforcement...

Perhaps it's difficult to undo it since chassis reinforcement sometimes requires extra welds on the seams of the body.

But yeah, it's probably just the typical PD logic.
