How to stop Logitech Driving Force GT oscillation problem

ugh, more 'hold the wheel' replies..do you even own the wheel? do you race competitively and are older than 6 years old? Your comments are not funny nor are they clever, it's not a Case of strength, at high speed you would need to be able to predict what crazy movement the wheel will perform next, you would need to link your brain to the wheels chips and read it before it acts, it's like a buckaroo, unpredictable #rant over
 
seriously...this thread has me shaking my head. The OP has a valid point, but obviously posted in a bad mood. But the people here saying go to the gym etc.....you need to stop the steroids as it's clearly rotting your brain cells. Never have I read more cretinous replies that completely miss the point of the OP.

In answer to the OP, if it's the Evo X you're sadly stuffed. Someone mentioned the AYC and indeed I think the game with that car and the logitech wheels has a huge problem with steering oscillation. And the X1 is seriously stuffed too and the F1 cars. I do believe those cars have (or would have in the fictional cars) power steering, so shouldn't be that hard to steer. The LMPs are about right in the game. Rallying is set too high as well, because when you go onto tarmac with dirt tyres the steering is SO DAMN HEAVY!! which I do believe that dirt tyres on tarmac would be nothing short of useless and give very little grip. It would be nice to have options, but sadly console games are rather light on options...Japanese games are particularly bad for this in my experience.

But apart from the Evo X, the X1, the FGT and the 2 Ferrari F1, the FFB is excellent in GT5 IMO. Not quite up to PC standards but it's getting closer. Also I think I'm correct in saying that PD use the wheels FFB to convey the WEIGHT of the car. AFAIK no other games do it quite like PD (if at all).
 
The problem sounds(and in the Evo feels) very similar to what GT4's FFB felt like on my DF. It was fine in the corners but every time you got to a straight it would try to kick violently to either side, if you let go you were instantly screwed. Was more noticeable the faster you went, made LMP/GrpC at Le Mans quite exhilarating but other than that it was very annoying. You could deal with it but you had to squeeze like you were trying to murder someone to keep it straight, which became rather painful in extended sessions.

yes ok we are being a little rough, it was the consumer advice that annoyed me in the first post but you are right. Constructivley i have suggested settings to this person and would just like to point out that my DFGT is fantastic with the F1 cars and brilliant with the FGT.

Edit: My wheel feels fine with the X2010 (not really), must be the steroids :D

Well if you changed the force feed back settings when you hooked it up to the computer like it says to do BEFORE you play the game... Maybe you wouldnt have this problem... Instructions are there for a reason...
 
Do you REALLY need to let go of the steering wheel, maybe for fun, but not for racing of course. Just start out at FFB around 5 and work your way up. Worked for me, should work for you. 👍
 
Don't know about the FF wheel you have but the Driving Force wheel is great. You can get wheel wobble with it too, at high speed, especially while driving Vettel's X1 at Sarthe. I set the Active Steering to Off this seems to help. You can also unplug the power to the wheel too but without any feedback it's a little wierd.

i have dfgt and on pc sims it works great like LFS iracing and stuff

but with gt5 theres a HUGE deadzone in the force feedback it is very very iritating and destroyed drifting for me i never bought the game because of this

i know g25/g27 had the same problem and i tried a g25 with the new 2.0 update and it was fixed completly but i am having trouble finding out if it is fixed with the dfgt

can any one who knows what this post is about give me a proper answer?
 
The only time I find this is a problem is with the X2010/11. I was hot lapping the new DLC oval and it's actually quite tough to hold on to in the curves. Also, the Mulsanne Straight is a complete pig, even using FFB on 1. I tried unplugging the power, but then it's a bit too 'dead'.

On the 'don't let go of the wheel' question, I understand the point the op was trying to make. Is it really that hard to see?

Got mine for 85 quid from argos and probably would've stopped playing this game 6 months ago without it. The only thing I don't use it for is drifting (working on that) and I don't think I would've got all my gold licenses without it, or the gold @ Monza with the Vettel.

PS how do you turn off the vibration function? Am I missing something?
 
I love my DFGT... I just got it about 3 months ago, spent a week getting used to it and now the only car I have trouble controlling is the X1. I love the ferrari F1 cars with my wheel. None of my friends can keep up with me.
I was a controller user since GT3 first came out, The wheel makes a huge difference if you know how to use it. just don't let go of the damn thing... and when driving the X1, plug in the DS3 and call it a day.
 
^^^ DS3 is more difficult to some. I had to use it to beat that one Special Seasonal Event. It was only the second time I ever drove the X2010, which could be the reason why it was really difficult trying to finish a lap with the DFGT.

Vibration function? ^^^ For a DS3? Push the PS button and it's in controller settings or you might have to go to the settings. It should be in the first spot where you turn off Visible Damage and AI difficulty. If not, it won't be too difficult to find.

It still doesn't go in a straight line if you let go of the wheel. Even then, it's a lot better than you think it isn't. Ever since Spec 2, steering feels more natural. Considering you're a Sim racer, I'm not so sure how good it'll be for you.


We got a new FF wheel for Xmas and the experience has been complete garbage with GT5. When you try to drive in a straight line, the slightest movement off-center causes the force feedback to jerk the wheel excessively in the opposite direction, which then causes the wheel to get jerked back in the other direction.

That's just dumb. He made it sound like it was a powerful force that made the experience unplayable. I got the wheel around Christmas '10 and now I can "legitimately" drift in GT5. Ever since Kart Space. LOVE THAT TRACK.

I'm aching to get a T500. It'll never happen. I hate how noisy the DFGT is.

I agree, I want to eventually trade in my DFGT for a G27. Love the full simulation 6-speed gear shift and clutch.

I also saw a nice mod for it that included a tachometer... AHH SWEET!!!
 
For everyone who has suggested turning down the FF, I actually think it somehow gets a lot better with maximum feedback. Try it and let me know if I'm right or just crazy.
