how to tune

The judgements were made while sober, the comments wouldn't be however. :P Needless to say, IMO there was 1 clear cut winner in this although the point score won't show it that way, it really ended up quite close overall. ;)

Mafs!!

some conversations you are having  ..,

@mafiaboy:

-aren't you getting bored of the 1/4 mile?? there is more to it than that..,

@N4HS:

-corners, yeah.., 100% certified touge racer here..,

mafia_boy: I am faster than you. End of discussion. If I so wished, I would beat you into the ground with the Rexies, and you're WAY off in the Subaru.

hey Random shmo, have you found anything that could help you with your tuning?? there are a lot of things here in the Car Tuning and Settings thread that could really give you a hand..,

oh, and RJ.., no offense, but please stop being such an a:censored:hole.., think about what you are to say, or else just keep quiet.., thank you very much..,

I think that came off the opposite of how you intended, as it came off quite... Well, never mind, pointing it out would make me a hypocritical ******* rather than just an *******.

You're right, I do need to do a little more thinking about what I type before posting it, but I rarely do.

I know that, but I'm a drag racing car nut, have been since my teenage days so my cars hit the 1/4 more than anything else. Also, check out my Celica tunes in the Vintage Cup to see if I know anything about cornering. ;)

:lol: Wow, someone was on the Red Bull when I was on the beers.:lol: Seeing you're being soooooo definitive of your ability to beat me I'll put it like this:

1. Get your ST165 Celica GT-Four tune out, enter it in Vintage Cup and prove it. :mischievous:
2. Put your rotor times in the 1/4 thread and prove it and beat my top speed too while you're at it. According to the stats ATM, I'm the rotor junkie not you. :P Otherwise, I'll buy the Spirit R and lower the time further. ;)
3. Your 1000m Spec-C is top dog for now.....carefactor 0, as the Spec-C has never been my forte. I'll deal with that record in time. And I wouldn't call 0.04 WAY OFF (read sig, 13.899).

Mafs!!

But your last confirmed run was a tenth off. :P

And I was actually on total zombie-like lack of sleep there.

But I'll smoke you out of the water in the Rexies.

And the Spec C is far from my forte as well. I want 7s...

You want 7s?! :odd: I've got 7.7's during my 1000m runs so the acceleration is easy, it's the top end that's got me (389km/h...bit slower than you. ).

BTW, your rotor time in your sig has been made redundant, took about 2 minutes to do but I'll agree that there is a tiiiiiiny bit of wheel hop at times, depending on revs on takeoff. ;) Going to load up all my GT4 images sometime this weekend to add some colour to my posts from Vintage Cup, 1000m & 1/4mile. :D The camera is getting a bit full.

Mafs!!

take that to the 1/4 mile thread, okay?

sheesh, what is wrong with you guys, thnigs are getting off topic in nearly every thread recently. get a grip.. :indiff:

It's definitely time that you started. I'm not liking what I've seen over the last few days here.

too bad you're all faster and slower in an outdated ps2 game lol.. It seems mafs may have actually spent some REAL seat time at the track but i know most here haven't even been down a quarter mile yet, much less gotten their liscences.

heh my real life claim to fame is keepin my trans am on the road, in OHIO, in winter, i deliver pizza on the weekend as well in it, now THAT will give you an understanding of oversteer, slush riden roads, wide ol' tires in a worn suspension with an auto tranny that shifts HARD, and an estimated 350 ft lbs of torque coming in at about 2500 rpms,, Slideways all the days.

Two Auto-X events, two meets at the Dragon on the Blue Ridge Parkway...

No quarter miles yet though. That's not happening until the six-speed swap. WOT launches in an automatic are NOT a good idea :sly:

Sorry to go off topic again, but I meant 7's in the RX-7. Mafs, if we are going to continue this, let's do it in PM or the 1/4 Mile thread.

On topic: You're right, I have next to no driving experience at all. However, I do my best to use my head and think about what should happen in a given situation, and while that can't replace true seat time, it allows me to get a grip on most of what causes the reactions I get from specific tuning inputs in-game. Of course, GT Legends and GTR2 are much better at giving semi-real outputs, but hey, that's off topic. (Then again, all of this is) And of course, analyzing what happens due to a given change in-game in GT4's case most likely works BETTER than trying to apply perfect real-world techniques.

But anyhow, I'll quote myself here in an attempt to get this back onto the tuning subject...

For anyone who wants advice, use the first link, Scaff's guide. Mine (second link) is in progress, and mostly rooted around examples of what to do with a given car.

May help you. I'll be working on a FWD tune guide as well as an AWD in the near future. RR and MR will follow that.

fine, you win.., :):D

you think so?? i have also been noticing that lately..,

BTW where is Random Shmo?? he's supposed to be taking care of things around here, not us .., this thread DOES belong to him..,

Well, let's steer this puppy right back on track.

I'm loving the FF challenge ideas, they're my one true love. :) Any future challenge with this format and you can count me in instantly. ;)

Another idea would be an under 1000cc or under 1300cc challenge, not just the 660cc limit for Kei cars. Just run what you brung in each class, and that way you can have a few cars from each category (80's, early 90's, late 90's, 00's) all competing against eachother, regardless of drivetrain. Maybe some parody can be used to even it out but I doubt it's needed. I'm not too sure if the Ginetta is under 1300cc though, if it is then it will be the only car everyone races, if not then it widens the playing field.

And sorry about the talk with RJ, that's getting taken to PM. ;)

Mafs!!

i'd like to do a setup like a traditional race series, limited to a handfull of cars, a maximum power to weight ratio, rules on customization, the real deal. just to give us more ammo to hurl at each other with glee:sly:

But the instant I have to turn left THEN RIGHT, I get all confused and am forced to slow down. I'd have to hire a driver. :D

Didn't the Cerbera Speed 12 snap a dyometer while testing its power? That much power, RWD and so light and so big still- can't expect much.

OK, so this isn't really a thread about the Speed 12, but I had to put in my 2 cents worth and say that this can be a very fast and good handling car IF you have good throttle control. Having a G25 wheel with the better pedals helped me drive this car properly. It was much more difficult with the DFP. It is an absolute joy to drive around the ring on Racing Super Hards.

Sure, you won't beat the Cien or a Ford GT around the ring because with the light rear-end you just can't accelerate as fast as you would like, but you can get very close and have a great time doing it!
