How do i use the ps3 controller for gameplay? i can scroll through the menu with the controller but when i enter the race the controller does not work. only the start button works.

Thanks

did you go to setting and adjust your button assignment?
do you have it set up for a wheel in settings?

personally i like L2 R2 for shifting and steering and breaking via analog sticks.

I want a wheel but can't drop the $250... plus table set up I would need.

I hope this helps.

I need to learn the right analog stick for throttle. Right now I use the buttons for brake and throttle and they just aren't subtle enough for finessing the throttle.

Once you learn how to use those analog sticks...racing life gets better. I've been using them since GT2 and never looked back...like ofspunk7 I can't drop $250 either on a steering wheel, so I make do and I do well with the analog sticks.

Set up with Left stick = steering and right stick = throttle & brake, but I sometimes use L2 for braking, and L1 & R1 for shift up & down.

I personally use L2 for braking and R2 for accel. and left stick for direction, the gear changes I manage with square for upshift and x for downshift, I've been doing fine with that setup.

Have you checked to see if it is assigned as controller 1 ?

Press and hold the PS button and go to controller settings.

Or have I got the wrong end of the stick here ?

I turned L2 to braking and R2 to accelerate. Right stick for gears. R1 for change view. steering with the Left stick.
