I, too, was inspired by what Mr.Slow was doing, so I decided to give it a go aswell. For anyone who hasn't seen the thread or an explanation yet, Mr.Slow took on the role of Scrooge and was trying to get as far into the game as he could without spending any money. I got to about 40% completion without spending money, which was the exact opposite of how I played the game first time around. I always used to modify cars, just to give myself (or B Spec) an easy win in the races, but now I've been competing in everything with a standard car (although I did have to fit a turbo to my MX-5 to win the Convertible races in Beginner hall :(

Anyway, the game is a lot more fun when you leave the cars standard :)

Here's a quick question. Which car will let you enter the most races and therefore give you the most percentage points? I'm afraid I have no idea!!

Like I said, I plan on attempting it. Off the top of my head, the Shelby Cobra is eligible for:

Sunday Cup
Lightweight Cup
FR Challenge
Spider & Roadster
Clubman Cup
Tuning Car Grand Prix
World Classic Car
World Compact Car
All 4 American races
1000 Miles!
Manufacturer
Supercar (w/ upgrades)
several enduros

Another possibility is to choose a car that can be modded to win ALL the Special Conditions races, possibly a *sigh* Skyline, maybe a Subaru because it includes Boxer Spirit. For example, a '99 Impreza is eligible for:

Sunday Cup
4WD Challenge
Clubman Cup
Tuning Car Grand Prix
Boxer Spirit
All Japan GT Championship
the first Japanese Hall race
90's Japanese Cup
ALL special conditions=24ish events
several enduros
Supercar (w/ mods)
Manufacturer race

maybe it's just me... i am a freak of collecting all cars but what is a Yaris?

Well, since I asked the exact same question some time ago maybe I can pass on the knowledge.

Yaris is in PAL what Lupo is in NTSC.

In my quest for maximum A-Spec points I was adviced to use the Toyota Yaris (or Vitz) to beat the Sunday Cup with all 200 points. I cleared id now with a few upgrades:
  • Oil change (because I hate that red oil-indicator lighting up)
  • Semi racing suspension
  • Fully customizable transmission (for extra speed on the high speed ring and fast accelleration on the smaller tracks)
  • Normal road tires - for extra points
  • NOS - for extra power to not fall way back after slow corners or a standing start
  • Extra ballast weight to boost the points up to 200

With these settings I won all the Sunday Cup races AND the Toyota Yaris/Vitz event races which left me with 10,000 credits btw :dunce:

Because I had to try again a lot to get the desired 200 points I earned a nice amount of money. Since it seemed impossible to get 200 points with the Yaris price car (a `02 Yaris RS Turbo) in the FF Challenge I reentered these race with the good old Yaris F `99 and found it waaaaaayyyy to slow. BUT after adding a supercharger it gained 30 hp, so now it's at 100 hp (200 using the NOS trigger :sly: and I was aible to get the 200 points in the FF challenge (with 50kg ballast) and win it.

Conclusion: the Yaris is a nice (cheap) car to start with and you can earn a decent amount of money with it. Since I didn't add the other engine turbo upgrades I think it might be possible to enter (and win) the Sunday Cup and FF Challenge in the professional hall, but I'll try that later. I searched a little and found that the Yaris can be bought for only 4,900 Cr. I payed more for mine because I had first golded the first two Licenses and had to wait for the cheaper one. Since I wanted to enter some races and start earning 200 points per race I didn't bother waiting and paid almost 6,000 for mine, and it's a silver-grey one too :yuck:

If you're not trying to achieve maximum A-Spec points there are better cars to start with, but others have suggested a few allready.

Happy racing :dunce:

Glad to see more people chasing A-spec points.

I've already played through twice - once as fast as possible to 100% and then once to get all licenses gold, all cars and as many A-spec as possible (which I've now almost finished, only a couple of hundred points left)

I think I will play it again once I'm done - I like jdw's stock car A-spec idea and also the "as few cars/as little money as you need" Idea. I'd also like to have a whole set of cars in black with black rims and wings and stuff - just messing about really. One thing for sure though - I'm haven't let B-spec drive a race and I'm not about to start now.

66.

If I do it a 2nd time I will try and go for 100% complete and a win record of 100%. But then again I am only at 36% now.

Wow, 100% win ration all the way, GL, i recommend u do all the races on A-Spec...I don't think i couldn't even pull a stund like that, maybe the first 25% u can keep 100% IF your careful, but its tuff my win ration now is about 81% now that i completed the game. :nervous:

I got to about 70% and got bored!!

The problem was i had bought way too many cars that i would n3ever drive formthe used lot just because i liked the colour an had no idea when it would show up again, my garage just felt like a mess. Also it seemed like all i had left to do was the races with GTP/Racing cars and rally races. I prefer road cars on tarmac!

Second time around i'm going for as few cars as possible, however this is difficult as teh game seems to throw prize cars that can't be bought at you too often, also getting money is way too easy. The first time i did the game i took the 100,000cr from GT3 which is a smaller advantage than i thought as it is easy to just sell that RSC for 265,000Cr.

Anybody else think the game is perhaps too easy?

My objectives in my second game:

- Gold all licenses.
- Win with as little tuning as possible. I'll let my win ratio go out the window to find out where the closest tuning to the second place car exists. If it means quitting out of a race to de-tune or tune up a little, then so be it. I want FUN races this time...no more blow-outs.
- buy as few cars as possible.
- Don't sell anything (except doubles).
I was kicking myself later when doing manufacturer races knowing I had once owned a car I now have to buy.

So, I'm now at 4.0% and my pts/races ratio is still at 200.
So far I only bought and used 2 cars for the 25 races I raced, with my current car I have at least 5 more races to go.

The first car was a (used) Yaris F '99 which I used for the Sunday Cup and FF Challenge in Beginner Hall and the Yaris meeting.
After that I bought a (used) Mazda MX5 (don't know the exact type, I'm at work so I can't check) for the NR-A meeting (at Mazda) and (right now, 2 more races to go) the FR Challenge and I'm going to use it for the roadster races (3 races). After that I'm going to have to decide which MR car to buy. I't has to be one I can get 200 pts for in the MR Challenge and (if exists) the factory meeting. Any suggestions?

On both cars I bought so far I had to do some tuning which, obviously costed a good amount of money. By using each car as many races as I can I still managed to end up with more money at the end of it's usefull period than before the purchase. My bank account is now somewhere around 33,000 Cr. with 2 more 1,500 Cr. races to go and 3 3,000 Cr. races, so I'll end up with a good 45,000 Cr. (bet I can get a decent MR car for that money). And I can still use these cars in other events, at least the Mazda, after reaching 25% I can take it for a spin in the Roadster endurance which will get me a lot more money! As for the Professional league: I'm pretty sure I can enter with the Mazda and get some 200 pts fun races, the Toyota I'm not that sure of but there's still a lot of performance tuning on that one to go so maybe.....

The Mazda turned out to be a good moneymaker too, I'm now using it to beat the Japan Hall - 90's Challenge, 3 down 2 to go. Funny note: on the third race (twin ring Motegi) the hardest car to beat was the Nissan Micra starting from pole, the key to beating him was maximum NOS, overtake the Micra, at that point I was running very, very, very low on NOS so I had to block him for about 2.5 laps, using the little NOS that was left getting out of the slow corners onto the long straits. On the last strait I had to block like H**L, he tried to pass left and right 3 times. Just made it by 0.0XX secs. Very fun race!
