How would you know if did something to your wrist?

I was biking today and tried to 360 down a 6 set stair case, and when I did, I was pointing down and my front hit causing my wrists to get huge impact. I got up and noticed I couldn't move my wrist for a while. Too much pressure and it got to the point where I almost wanted to call up an ambulance for myself, haha.

Any ways, my wrist hurts. I can't move it to the right much and I can't move it up or down a lot. I'm hoping this is just a sprain and not a fracture or break. Can some one help me out?

Thanks,

-Matt.

You can't move it, or it just hurts like hell to move it?

Either way, probably seeing a doctor would be a good idea on this one... sounds fairly serious.

Well considering you flew down stairs... It's probably broken, see a doctor. I was rollerblading one time and tried to 180 a long time ago and wasn't going fast at all and just merely fell over and landed on my hand/wrist and I "severely" sprained (basically nearly broke it) my wrist so... Just go see a doctor.

Somtimes sprains can be just as bad as a fracture, if it is a snapped tendon then don't count on moving your wrist properly for a while, though tendons are tricky to snap , but really go see a docter, sprain or fracture it can't be good if cannot move well, and if you do not get it treated then you may never be able to move it fully ever again.

Wrists are fairly complicated, so when someone says they broke they wrist, it can mean a long list of things. Think of how many bones meet at your wrist. Definitely see a medical professional, if it sets wrong, you can run into bigger problems down the road that you will regret.

I "broke my wrist" a couple seasons ago snowboarding in my backyard. It really messed up good, had to have realigned, I think one break and a fracture or something.

I still can't move it to the left (like a waving motion), it just won't go that way. Be careful and learn to break your falls by rolling or avoid absorbing impact with your wrists (I know it's hard, human nature and all). I always have bruised up forearms at the end of snowboard season.

Well the thing is that we don't have really good insurance and I don't have a personal or family doctor really.

I don't want to go to the E.R. just because of medical expenses after. My family can't really pay those bills at the moment. I just think it's sprained because I was reading up some stuff on Google, and it definitely isn't broken or else I'd be screaming at the top of my lungs still... And it can't be a fracture or misplaced because I can still move it, just not a lot. So it's gotta be a sprain.

From personal experience, I'd advise you to see a doctor if it hurts badly after about a day or so. I broke my wrist playing hockey a few years back and, since I didn't think it was really broken, I put off seeing a doctor for 4 or 5 days, right away they told me it was broken. Sometimes it's hard to tell without a professional opinion.

Well, from About.com - "Following a fall, you may be bruised and sore. Sometimes, a fracture may be misdiagnosed as a bad sprain (an injury to the ligaments), and the pain, limited movement, and weak hand grasp in the affected arm is ignored."

Sounds like me. haha

Because of the lack of screaming in agony.
I broke my arm and walked around for 2 days because it didn't hurt much. I went to the hospital because I noticed my arm was sticking out a bit from my body, instead of hanging beside it.

Yes, the incident I described was diagnosed by my friends and family as a sprain, and went to the hospital about 10 ours after it happened. It turns out it was pretty serious and it was a good thing I went in. It still hurt sooooooooooo much more to get it set back in place than the actual fall.

I'll second that. When I broke my arm in 4th grade, it didn't really hurt that much. I could still move my wrist, so I didn't think I had a broken bone, but when the pain and color got worse the next day, Mom rushed me to the doctor. For the next six weeks, I was in the plaster club.

I something like that happen to me too. Except is was with my tail-bone. I fell out of a chair about 3 months before I went to my first chiropractor appointment (and they said they needed to take x-ray of my back before they did any work on me. I get a call about half an hour later saying that I had a broken tail bone.

It didnt even hurt. what gives? is the tail bone impervious to pain?

I thought the tail bone is usually sensitive. Like when you're sledding and you land on your ass on solid ice it doesn't feel too god for the night and the next morning. :indiff:

Well I went to the doctors and they did a X-Ray, they sent it off to a radiologist place or something. Ten minutes later, it's not broken or fractured. It's only bruised badly. The tenants are pulled severely, haha.

As for one thing, my pinky on my right hand, it's got a torn ligament. So 4 weeks with a brace on my pink :(
