The guys (there are only 2 of them) are working on their editor at the moment and the physics are almost complete, I have played a few Alpha versions including some with multiplayer code and its pretty darn good.

The physics themselves are actually in their 3rd complete re-write.

***last I heard they are looking at a demo around June/July.

Is that Oakleigh go kart track???? I've been there! Its a great track. Surrounded by rubbish tips though, stinks to high heaven if the wind is blowing from the wrong direction, lol.

Yes it is!

The game is going to start out with only Australian Tracks and as time goes on more tracks will be added from around the world.

that looks like one hell of a game, I'm joining that facebook group and getting that as soon as it is released.

Everyone who complains that gt5 took 5 years to complete look at this game. lol

will it have the option for people to create their own tracks?

To start of with I dont think so, but the natural step would be to add the european tracks as karting is a big thing over there.

It may have been founded in 2005, but I saw concept boards back in 2003. I've been waiting 7 years for this :P

Do you know if it is a PC only game or console too?

With some of the useless tat that wasn't even powerful enough to climb the hills of the 'ring (but was still included in GT4) I don't see a problem with including karting.

As far as I know it will start out as PC only. Depending on how that goes who knows the possibilities.

If it were to be released on console I would expect an XBOX360 release way before anything on PS3 just because of the nature of the programming.

If PD were to implement Kart in GT5(and I pray they do) I would be nice they include these types of Karts:

Anyhow here's hoping PD actually follow through with Karts :)

250cc superkarts

I think people who are commenting, "no karts would be so slow", "they only do 40mph" need to realise that we don't mean karts that you go on with your mates, we mean serious racing karts; ones with speeds over 150/160mph.

I was a camera operator for Kart Week at Daytona & I did not see one that went over 150mph...

no not arrive and drive karts.

Gearbox karts will reach at least 120mph Non gearboxes will still reach 100mph. Round windy circuits you don't end up going faster than that.

These were NOT arrive & drive karts. I'm talking about the ones used in the World Karting Assoc. The drivers there included Jamie McMurray, AJ Allmendinger, Dan Wheldon etc.

I don't know their exact top speed, but I assure they weren't going over 150mph on the banks of Daytona. At least it certainly look like it from my view up on the platform...

Here's an article with a couple photos of the many different karts that were there: http://www.motorsport.com/news/article.asp?ID=113229&FS=WKA

Perhaps you guys have more serious machinery in Europe?

250cc 6 speed Superkarts have been clocked at over 150mph, that might be a bit higher than the average race speed but that's what some of them can do. On a banked oval I don't think they'd quite hit top speed but they should be capable of coming close, can't say I've ever seen them run at an oval. On a usual track I think they often reach speeds in the 120's before hitting the next corner except on longer straights.

Sorry about that. Its just when you said daytona i thought you meant the arrive and drive karting company in britain. http://www.daytona.co.uk/

Yea I am really excited about this feature. 👍 And I think it will be one of the more popular things to play online as well.

I think it's a nice addition! 👍 I've never tried karting in real-life, so I'm looking forward to it.

This should be interesting. I hope we can put wings on them, I'd love to have a 400 lb vehicle make 2000 lbs of downforce, that would be funny.

Mario Kart comes to GT5, nice! Still, as long as karting is limited to dedicated and/or shorter twisty tracks it should be fun and certainly offer some seat-of-the-pants, close racing.

I just hope that GT5 isn't turning into Jack-of-all-trades, master of none.

I think it's a great addition, and a great thing to implement in any GT5 race report-turned-story.

Looks alright, pretty much as expected I guess - karting using the GT engine. A nice addition for sure, but one that I personally could have done without. Still, it's in, so... :)
