HP Laptop help...

Need help ASAP.
I've somehow disabled the touchpad on my laptop while I was replacing the keyboard.
The mouse doesn't work at all.
I pressed a few buttons by accident that must have disabled it.
Any help?

Control Panel - Mouse - Touchpad then dig around in the settings to make sure it's enabled?

Are you sure you have not triggered it off?

On my HP I have a dimple like the one pictured, double tapping disables the touchpad. I did it accidentally and thought it was broke once.

No It's a button above thee touchpad with an icon next to it that glows blue when enabled and amber when disabled.
It's blue but doesn't work and I don't know why.
All the connections are in properly.
It stopped working when I was connecting the new keyboard and I pressed a few buttons whilst doing it.
It's never had a problem like this ever.

When you plugged in the keyboard did you get any errors or prompts?

Do you have a mouse connected? There is a setting on my laptop that can disable the touchpad when a mouse is connected.

Well when I was fitting the keyboard several windows came up on screen but I didn't look what they said.
Also since the touchpad isn't working,yes I've been using an external mouse.

You really shouldn't have been replacing the keyboard with the system on, that's a pretty easy way to short circuit / break something.

Have you tried disabling and re-enabling the touch pad driver in Device Manager? Also try getting the driver again off the HP website and reinstall.

I know it was a dumb thing to do.
I got too excited.
I'll check the driver software out.

If it is still overheating, have you tried removing the battery pack? Just a random thing I did one day with my HP Pavillion.

My HP doesn't overheat anymore and I don't have the battery inside.
I replaced the thermal paste and cleaned the fan and exhaust and now it runs well.
Thanks for the thought though.
I'd like to know if all HP pavilion's have overheating problems because with mine it just needed maintenance because it's 6 years old and was never opened up until this year.

I've heard vaio's overheat?
I thought I'd never open a laptop in my life and I thought it was too complicated.
But a few youtube videos later and extensive practice I feel confident opening up any electronic deveice.

It struggles though I try doing proper maintenance like defragging the HD, antivirus runs, Ccleaner Runs. I haven't taken mine apart because it is one unit.

I'm having more difficulties.
I turn my laptop on as usual but the screen is black.
I hear the fan and disc drive working and the blue lights turn on,(bearing in mind I've not tampered or modified it) I don't understand why there's a black screen.
Is it dying?Do I need a replacement screen?Virus?

Yep TB,ribbon cable was loose.
