HSR-II downforce

Do the actively adapting wings on the HSR-II concept actualy give the car any extra downforce in the game? Or are they purely cosmetic? I was just wondering cause I sure can't tell....
 
By the way, the Cadillac Cien and Mercedes Maclaren SLR has adapting wings that change angles depending on speed. But I think it is just pure cosmetic.
 
No clue. But the SLR's is an airbrake, to stabilise the car under heavy braking loads.
 
Hmm, I never noticed that the Cien had a adaptive wing, gotta chek it out.:)
The thing is, you can adjust the Cien's downforce

Actually, I found out that the wing on the back of the SLR is not just used as a airbrake but also a spoiler. Go to Arcade mode and drive this car on the Test Course. Then accelerate slowly and I think around 60-70km/h, you see the wing move up a little bit, it is only just by a little bit, and when you reach speeds of 90-100km/h, the wing moves upwards a bit more and you can see that the wing is higher then when the car is standing still.Then when you brake, the wing flips up to act as a airbrake.
 
Ahh, I have come to a conclution. The wings DO add a little downforce. What I did was dive it reverse on Seattle, then on the big downhill section I mashed the breakes in the air. This cause the car to pitch backward slightly, hinting at some downforce being generated.

Man the people at PD must have had alot of fun getting all the data for these cars.:crazy:

Actually, that could've been about to happen anyway. Do it twice, once braking in midair (Using the brakes) and once not, and see if it's any different :)
