So there I am, racing 15 laps against the best AI I've faced yet in the Pro GT All Stars, Midfield II. I was a ways ahead on the 14th lap, then BAM my CTS kicks in and I reel in pain, sending my ZZII into a spin. I couldn't even press start. While I'm comforting my poor poor right hand, the R390, GT-One, and 787B get enough time to pass me.

After the pain died down a bit, I picked up the controller despite the possibility it could happen again and zoomed down the course. I was about 15 seconds behind, then my killer instincts kicked in and I was taking lines I never though I could. I caught up in the downhill S turn and drifted the tight U-turn at 65, passing all three of those suckers. I won not even a minute later.

So I say, the AI may not have human anatomy to worry about when driving, but they don't compare to the simple power of the human need to win.

I'm in alot of pain right now though :(... I had to quit the season for a bit... d*mn you my wrist, d*mn youuu.

Lol Vinkento...Just make a arcade stand for it...With the joystick and the huge buttons..Lol..I'm sure that'd be fun with a racing game..

juz make somtin u lay on the floor like the game twister... have one button for gas and so on.... i could see it now... dive arcoss the room so u dont go full speed into a corner

Err...you must've really stuffed up your wrist if you couldn't press start...:odd:

I swear the PS2 controllers need to be larger.
I agree. There's just something that's not quite right about the controller design that forces your hand into a position that's just screaming to give you cramps. I have really small hands/fingers (it's the Asian side of the family!), and yet I still wish the controller were larger. Not Xbox-large mind you, but still larger. I've had way too many cramps using the DS2 controller.

Well I've typed since I was just a wee lad, the "right" way aparently. When the CTS does kick in, it hurts like a b*tch, usually to the point I can't move my hand.

I think I'll buy a wheel when I get the money. I could really go for not having to use my fingers much.

I've never had problems with the PS2 controller...but when I'm playing a PC racing game on the key board, my 4th finger always hurts...(The right arrow key) I dunno why.

ving..HE's lying....He lost horribly...He started writhing in pain and then he got beat, he was in a F1 car racing in the sunday cup....and came in last

CTS /is/ a ******, I don't have it as bad as maybe my dad has it, but it hurts like hell sometimes. Especially when playing GT3 for long extended periods of time.

And being a wakk-a-holic might have something to do with it, I just can't control myself sometimes. And I'll have you know those minivans in teh sunday cup are hard to beat. Not to mention the F1's suck a$$

No, it sends a sharp pain from the tip of the fingers down to the elbow. Know how a toothache or an earache feels? well that only in your arm, wrist, and hand

I'm not to knowledgable on it myself, that's just what my doctor said the signs pointed to. But he's Japanese so I don't know.

Actually, when it gets bad enough, like all pains, all you want to do is make it feel a little less like someone's stabbing you. I dropped the controller and was rather busy cradling my arm. Don't let a funny name like carpel tunnel syndrom fool you, it's really does hurt like hell.

When I get into serious agonizing pain....I go and stub my toe.......Nothing else hurts more in the world than stubbing your toe

Shinez, for that reason I've toe stub proofed my room. I couldn't even if I tried.
Carpel Tunnel isn't one of those things you sense coming on, the pain just happens spontaneously.

Um - you really shouldn't be getting this at 17-18 years old.

My recommendation? Get a steering wheel!

EXACTLY...SO you get up and run around going "Ow ....ow ow....ow" And you kick your foot on say...the door frame on the way outside..then you stop right there And your arm is better, and you hold your foot and repeat "ow..ow ow...ow"

Well that's what my doctor said, I've been playing games and typing since I can remember. Whether its really CTS or not, it hurts. I'll use CTS as a nickname for the pain if i must.

Oh - I wasn't doubting the diagnosis, more observing that this is a condition more seen in factory workers and typists in their 40s (and onwards) than in people in their late teens. You might want to give your poor wrists a rest - this condition will only worsen if you continue to aggravate it, and it's a pretty horrible operation to correct it.
