Racing tyres are racing tyres. Simulation tyres are meant to simulate road tyres - as in the ones you have on your real car (if you have one).

Slap a set on your GT3 car, and see just how badly they react to 100% acceleration or 100% braking.

Ok but then what are the tires you get when you first buy a car,

By the way my car runs on a mickey thompson slick  ;)

How are the simulation tires different from the first tires ?

Bad traction ?

Simulation tires are supposed to simulate the sensation of actual driving but in reality they just make the game more difficult than necessary.

That's a question I'd like answered - if simulation tyres are road tyres, racing tyres are racing tyres and dirt tyres are for rallying, what the hell ARE the "normal" tyres for?

"Normal" tyres are basically an arcade-y tyre - with less grip than sports tyres. I think if everyone had to start GT3 on tyres that actually mimic real-life tyres they'd have a heart attack and take the game back to the shop - which is why they are there as an option.

Famine-your head must be spinning. Lemme see if I got this if dirt tires are on tires and cheese is yellow tires. Aww forget it.

If you put simulation tires on a Speed 12 without TCS and without ASM, without going slow they'll be worn out halfway through the lap. :P

I've never used simulation tires in any of the GT games, but that is because I have heard they are hard to get used to and require careful braking and accelerating. I might have to try them sometime just to see what it is like, and if it makes the game more realistic.

Sim tyres aredefinately hard to get used to, but giuve them time any you will learn the delicate driving techniques that are required to use sims.

I've been playing around with them in hopes that figuring out how to drive on them will make driving on racing tires a bit faster.

Hence the reason I've been running ASM and TCS on my low powered cars recenlty. If I can drive with tehse one, but in such a way as to never have them kick in, I can drive to the limit much better when I don't use them.

Running a Mini with ASM forces you to run very smooth. Any agressive inputs results in a speed reduction. With the MINI, that is very costly.

its actually a glitch in the game...

correct spelling is "stimulation", see they left out the "t" at the begining!

what they are meant to do is whenever the accellerator is depressed the ds2 controller vibrates.... at which point you put it between your legs......

bah! never mind :P

I've also just gotten the bright idea (after 4 years of various GT games) to switch over the brake and throttle to L1 and R1.
Both have a little more travel for "pressure sensitivity" and the way I've had to re-arrange my grip on the DS2 is more comfortable for my right thumb.

PD put sim tires in the game for drifters. The reason that sims are not on normal cars is because the game would be too difficult to start with if there were. Normal tires are just a player friendly stock tire.

Also, don't question me on whether or not sims were put in just for drifters because they were. KY said it himself in an interview and the subject of what drifters can expect to see in GT4. I can't quite remember where the article is, but I'm almost positive it was in the Super Street interview he had. And this wasn't Super Street saying it, it was a direct quote from KY in answer to a question.
