I-A license all gold

I got bored so I decided to buy GT3 yesterday. Decided I'd start of by getting all gold ratings in the licenses, so far have done that on B, A, I-B, and 3 of the I-A tests.

What car do you get awarded for all-golds on the I-A license? And what do you get for the S-license, in case I go for that one too?

Plus, any tips for I-A test 1?

Finally did I-A test 1. Missed out with 39.531, 39.512, 39.502 then finally got 39.450 for gold.

Another note, are the gold rating times lower for the UK version of the game than some other version?

I read a guide on gamefaqs and the gold requirement times listed there were slower than what I have on my version of the game. For instance, the guide listed I-A test 1 gold requirement as 40.000, yet I had to get 39.500.

For I-A test 8, the guide listed gold as 1:08.850, yet I have to get 1:07.500! And to merely get silver I had to reach 1:08.500. :indiff:

I have mucho trouble with the circle tracks. That's what's stopping me from golding a & ib. I'm about halfway done with IA though. The slalom's were fairly easy, as was the seattle lower section (got on second try, almost cried!!!!). There's one part in rome, though, where I'm having a ton of trouble golding. You need to find the absolute EXACT turning point, or you're going to slam in the the wall, either on the inside corner or the outside. It's (IMO) the hardest to gold so far. Even over b8 (seattle, 14.200 to gold).

What was your gold requirement for I-A test 8? It says I've gotta get 1:07.500 :yuck:

The wet circular track test was my best. I got 48.084, 0.616 seconds inside the gold time :)

The Seattle one with 14.200 was the hardest I've done yet.

Do you ever get the sense you've gone above and beyond the call of duty?

I just spent over an hour trying to do I-A test 4 (Tokyo R246 with the Castrol Mugen NSX), with the gold barrier at 32.200. When I finally did break it, I got 31.985, with a first sector of 21.489!

Boy, it feels great when you gold a test. I mean, there's complete and utter satisfaction knowing that all your hard work has finally paid off. I remember doing the slalom's, and at first doing crap on them. Then I got better, and developed a rhythem for them. Finally, I golded, and on the very next test (no tcs or asm, still slalom), it only took me two tries to do!!! I was so proud of myself, I screamed at the top of my lungs and had to take a coffee break. Damn, this game is great, aint it?

BTW My best seattle time for b8 was 14.128, shaving tenths off is freakin unbeleivable at that test. That was a real killer for me.

Yea I thought that was weird, I found the slaloms much easier with ASM off than on.

I think it's because they way I do it I tend to slide a lot to scrub off speed, and the ASM stops the car from sliding so I just end up going too fast to keep a good line.

1'08.850 for ia-8.

The one I was having a huge amount of trouble on was ia-6, where you brake from 92-82 mph, turn, then find the EXACT turning point to go through. That to me is the toughest so far. Still haven't gotten it yet...:(

Your gold requirement for I-A test 8 is 1:08.850? Mine is 1:07.500. Have I got some extra hard version of the game or something?

I-A test 6 was great for me. I was easily faster than even the demo car, gained mostly by turning in very early for the second turn but still getting a perfect exit. Got 19.976.

PAL and NTSC versions have different requirements for some of the tests.
www.gt3times.com has a great license guide to help get all golds.

And as for the prize car, you will get a delicious Aston Martin Vanquish for your iA troubles.

And if you think the IA tests are hard... wait til you get to some of the Super tests... i still can't beat Laguna with the Viper! :argh:

So when someone with the NTSC version says they have all gold licenses, it's not really as good as getting all gold licenses on PAL.

Basically that what it is, but I still find it wierd that there are different time requirements.

I think that the time requirements should be the same all around,

but I'm just having trouble getting silver, I've done all the tests except for S, but still don't know the best lines, when to brake, when to go full-throttle, should I drift the first part of the corner. I've seen how it's done in the demos, but proper corner strategy (which has happened for me, yet) is key to winning.

What is your corner stragety, when do you brake, do you drift, maybe hearing what some of the best GT drivers do will help my technique?

I am not a great driver, but I have managed to get all gold. One piece of advice I can pass on, was something that helped me. I read somewhere that in real racing there is a guideline that when braking for a corner 85% should be done before the turn, with the final 15% as you start to turn. By applying this to GT, I found my cornering became more controlled and I was less inclined to brake too late.

Sometimes I drift, sometimes I don't drift. It would depend how the car is set up. For example, I-B test 8 can be drifted beautifully.

I usually copy whatever the demo car does. If the demo car drifts, I drift. If it doesn't drift, I don't drift. I find I am faster than it about half of the time. I've only had the game for 1 day, and I have 34 golds, need 6 more before I go onto Special, which I imagine will be a lot harder and take a lot more time.

In terms of driving style, I tend to favour the 'shortest route' way of doing things, rather than the 'straightest turn' philosophy where you use all the track.

Is the demo car a person driving, or an AI? It seems a bit smooth for a human driver, but it does sometimes make mistakes. For example, in I-A test 6 (the one in Rome, in the Zonda C12), the demo car is too conservative in the first corner, and turns in way too late for the second corner. I gained about a tenth of a second if not more on the demo car, simply by turning in early, tapping the brakes to help turn the car, and getting exactly the same exit speed.

Whenever I copy the demo car, I always fail, so I just follow instinct and it works

I'll try the trial mountain enduro with the skyline so it will be close, and I'll just experiment on what's best.

I just looked it up and you can also win the all-gold S-license car, the GTSR concept, by winning the GT all stars. If that's true, that kinda sucks, it would have been nice if it was a unique car at least.

Ya that is true. It wouldnt be very cool to have a unique liscense test car because some people just arent good enough to get golds.

The license gold reward cars a good because they mean you don't have to buy a car. Currently I have a R390 which can win almost anything, and I haven't even bought a car. Got the first 3 all gold licenses, upgraded the RX-8 a little and won the euro GT championship, got awarded a Gillet, then with that won the GT pro world championship, and got awarded an R390. Still haven't bought a car!

The day I got the game I cracked away at the license tests, got 34 golds, then got bored. Did some racing.

After a couple of days away from license tests, I just went back to license tests, and it seems easier than before, I must be getting better at this game. Only took 5 minutes trying to get gold on I-A test 5, the Corkscrew one in the Viper. I was easily faster than the demo car through the actual Corkscrew itself, but I had a few problems with the final corner, so it took me a few tries. I didn't do the outrageous drift that the demo car does, but instead simply turned in very early, kept a tight line, dabbing the brakes to induce oversteer, and didn't use the whole track on the exit, instead taking a shorter route to the finish line. Beat the gold margin of 22.900 with a 22.840.

Now for the final test, I need to get 1:07.500. I'm only 3 tenths off the demo car in the first sector.

So when someone with the NTSC version says they have all gold licenses, it's not really as good as getting all gold licenses on PAL.
that's retarded  we didn't make the game, so golding the licenses is golding the licenses... but i bet many who have all gold, or near it have beaten the PAL requirement as well, i know i have as i checked my times vs what's listed as the PAL gold standard. They weren't far off the NTSC in most cases.
