That Lagauna Seca test with the Viper race car was a real pain in the ass for me. It must have taken me almost a year to get a gold in that one. I would be going at it for about 5 days straight then get fed up and shelve the game for a couple of months, then go back at it again. It sure made all the other licenses look like a piece of cake. Once I did get the gold though I was pissing myself with joy (I'm just mad though that I forgot to save the replay but oh well).
Minimal gold requirement time - 1'16.800
My time - 1'16.564

BTW I'm a long time browser to these forums but just recently signed up so hello to everyone:)

Man, im new to this site, but not to the GT series. Me friend couldnt be stuffed getting the licences, so i acepted the PS2 off him and GT3 (i normally play GT2) and got to work, after getting board I decied i would get all gold, Man I was getting so fustrated trying to beat my ghost, it was fast, ended up i had won gold and didnt realize, so i turned ghost off, but man, what was the game designers thinking with that time differance, I missed a time by .003 of a second, B8, yes i know its the first one. But I found it hard getting used to a brand spanking new car each test, so i just continued on and got some more golds in A.But what i want to know is. How long did it take you people to do these test (gold), and is it easyier with a wheel?

I won all my 48 Gold Medals without a wheel.
The most Licences i've benn driven with automatic.
Some IA's & the S-Licences i've driven manuel.
But don't worry be happy - in the Pal Version there are some time-differences in some Licences*i look at it*

I was so frustrated with IA6 last night. I kept getting barely silvers, then I changed tactics. Turn, brake, accel, straighten, shift, turn, and I did this for almost an hour. The very last time I got a time of 20.104 I was SOO PISSED. Anywhoo, I ended up getting it this morning, beating it by 2 tenths. A ton of time considering I missed it before by 4 1-thousanths.

I have driven a lot of Gold's early in the morning - The evening before i eat my Pad.

ARGH!!! :yuck:

When I compare those lists, I'm furious for having to play the PAL-version. If I had the NTSC several of my times would have given me GOLD instead of cheap silver!

I hope PD make sure to have no such thing as time differences in license test between the two version next time!

Just got back from holiday the other day. Did some more license tests. Did the final remaining 2 I-A gold tests. I have to say the IA final test was the most fun I've ever done. It's a real challenge as you have to fight understeer in the early, smooth sweeping corners, and it gradually shifts until you are battling impossible oversteer in the final two slow corners. Got 1:06.9. First time round I got 1:07.4, only just gold, but I carried on because it was so damn fun. That's the only license test so far I've carried on driving after I've got gold.

Today I worked on S-license, got gold test 1,2,3,4,5 and am very close to doing 6. Test 2 was definitely the hardest, test 5 the easiest.

All Golds is over rated. Getting all golds is helpful but for me at least, doing all the super lisences did not help me at all!!! Doing a full lap with cars that are set up to slide is kinda unrealistic to me. :yuck:

Have you got any golds in the S license tests ManiacGT3 ?

Why did you say getting the S license did not help?
You need S license to open up certain events. F1 in particular which needs a skill level of passing the S license to have any chance of winning. They teach throotle control, steering input and make you learn the tracks.

All golds in license is not required to finish the game as a percentage or a skill level. You can do it with bronze.

It is a test of skill most players strive for usually after they have completed the game the first time and are looking for extra challanges.

It took me about 2 months to gold the S license first time.
2 nd time it took about a 16 hours.
3 rd time it took about 10 hours.
So it does improve your driving the more you do them.

OH-YES!!! :D

I've just golded the IB license! I'm so proud!
So now I'm off cruising my brand new Nissan Z Concept, and then I'll have a go at IA!

Edit: I now have golded both IA-2 and IA-6 (20.093)!!!!!
Edit2: Golded the corkscrew as well (IA-5) :sly:

Grats on that. Once you can get all golds on I-A, you have the ability, S-license is simply a case of patience and you will get all golds on that too.

As for the cars being set up to slide, that may often be true, but you can still grip with them, you don't have to really drift, you just have to be careful with the oversteer. In fact I find maximising grip sometimes to be fastest, especially in the slow corners. Besides, the point of the license tests is that you have no choice in the setup, you just have to adapt your driving style to what's at hand.

I'm working on the S-6 Laguna Seca Viper license test trying to get as good a time as I can in the first 2 sectors. I saw Edmar's 1:14.330 video, and watched the spectacular drifting first corner and thought 'right, that's what I've got to do', but I found although drifting was easier to be quick with that car, gripping can be just as fast in that corner, in fact for me it works better when I get it right. I now regularly manage to get first sectors in the 20.1s, 20.122 being my best. When I say gripping I mean no tyre smoke and minimal tyre screeching, I'm not sure if that's really 'gripping' per se.
