I will start off by saying, i have been facinated by drifting ever since I first saw it with my own two eyes...

I bought gt4 and thought it was a good racing game, but thats all. Until I started to try to drift, and i found that to be a very big challenge. So i went out and bought the "900" because i thought that was my problem (i just need the wheel and it will be easy). I was dead wrong. Second I thought my cars where not good enough, so i bought the fasted, and strongest and still that wasn't good enough. Then i read ever single drift post, saw every single movie, and watched every video i could get my hands on. Basically what i'm trying to say is, its freak'n harder than it looks. To all those people that get fed up with it and just put it to the back burner, dont do it, once you start getting it, its some fun. Its 2:14 am and i'm still running laps. I forgot who said it in one of the posts, but it takes two hours a day and about two months to be somewhat decent. I've played for about 7 hours today, and i looked, and i put on 337 miles on my s2000.

Everyone puts their tricks and tips to learn how to drift, so i figured i would do the same, just to help out the next guy.

Step 1:
Buy a slow ass car or truck

Step 2:
Put the right type of tires on it

Step 3:
Get use to going around corner a little bit slower than usual (your not racing, YOUR DRIFTING)

Step 4:
When going through corner leave your foot or thumb off the gas, and just countersteer. After several hundred laps later your feet will do the talkikng for you. And you will start to feel everything people have been talking about in the 11 forum pages about drifing.

Step 5:
Baby Steps...and then just take it to the next level

Now if this is in another post somewhere, please dont make a big deal about it, or make fun of my realization, just delete the post PLEASE!!!

I attached two of my mini movies, would someone take a look and see if i'm even doing this the right way, it would save me another 337 miles on my s2000. (sorry about the quality, all i had was my palm pilot)

movie 1movie 2

Again, thanks to everyone for their help!!!

Nice drifts. I find the Sprinter TRUENO is one of the worst cars for drifting in, myself.

YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH, I KNOW.....gotta pay off the pda first though.......

Ok, from what I can see, your entry is ok, the video seems smooth. Maybe that's because of th e quality, but your exits are way to early. I suggest you minimize your countersteer near the end of the drift, because your angle will usually be lower than the middle of the drift.

i've so far found the 86 is the one of the better cars to do drifts in, i'm not great at it, but i can make some laps, it seems to work well for me, at just over 200hp with the supercharger on.

would it be that i do not have enough speed through certain turns? because on movie 2, i remember my rpms dropping, and i went from 4rth to 3rd to 2nd, and then had to straighten out because lack of speed......could it be that???

What was your speed? Because from your video, you were going pretty fast. Only thing that coulda affected it was poor countersteering or throttle control.. Sorry if I sound harsh...

no you dont.....the first movie, i'm going in high 4rth gear to get the speed through that long corner...the second movie i'm in third.......but it just seems that i am loosing momentum......a lot of it as i start the drift....

If you went through that turn in 4th gear, then you should have went through it no problem. It's when you get down to 2nd gear you know that your too slow. You should stay in 3rd or 4th gear, because this is the range where drifts are.

If you try t begin countesteering earlier, you'll maintain more speed over a longer period, and you can do that by earlier countesteering, correct: earlier BEGINNING to countesteer, and that cause lower angle, I haven't seen your vid. but out of my own experience I know your just in a too big angle in the middle of the turn.

I can't download it, cause I've got a warning that last time I went over the bandwidth limit...:scared::nervous:SIX TIMES:scared: If I do that again, we must pay more money for it:indiff:So can you tell me what track and what turn your having problems with?

Try the special Trueno S.S. version. My favorite, extra hot and spicy! It can definitely have the power to haul you through a decent drift. 👍

s2000freak, I really like that second drift. And thanks for the post. There are still a lot of us with a long way to go (I know I sure need to keep practicing!) and who appreciate any encouragement.

your welcome Le Machin , i understand completely.....and thanks to everyone for the additional help....

so basically out of everyone, my problem is that i dont have a car that has enough power to do the long turns...and i'm getting too much angle, make sense....thanks again
