Hey everyone, first of all my name is Ryan and my brothers and I gave in and bought a Playstation3 after experiencing 2 red rings of death on our Xbox360. I never though I would buy the PS3 simply because I already spent 400 bucks on the Xbox360. But, after being VERY disappointed with Forza 2, I always gazed at the videos and screenshots and said to myself, "I wish GT5 would be on the 360!" lol

So, just yesterday, I bought GT5P and it is by far the best feeling and best looking racing game I have ever played. I've only played the first GT and never played GT2 or GT3 since I was an Xbox guy. But I am now convinced that GT5 is the best looking racing title ever created!!!! And this is coming from a guy who has owned ONLY an Xbox and Xbox360 for at least 6-7 years thinking "I have the best console."

But, again, when Forza 2 came out, it was the BIGGEST disappointment I have ever felt when getting a game. The graphics and especially the replays are AWFUL and there is no excuse for it.

So, after playing GT5P for the last couple of days, I am VERY excited to have stepped into the world of Gran Turismo. It actually feels like an honor! lol :) This game is so gorgeous and represents cars so well that I am thankful that Polyphony Digital has taken on this project for so many years.

I'll post more later, but I'm glad to be a part of the GT community and the game IS the best out there. Period. And I'm glad to FINALLY own it!

Welcome on board GT Planet.

You certainly should find all you need regarding Gran Turismo here, have a good look around as we have a lot to see and I look forward to seeing you add to the 'family' we have here.

Welcome to GTPlanet and Welcome to Gran Turismo ComposerRyan 👍

Glad you enjoy it, if you like GT5P which is just a taste then fasten your seatbelt for GT5. :)

IMO the most significant advantage that the GT series has over Forza is support for Logitech wheels. If you are a serious sim fan, do yourself a favor & get yourself a G25. 👍

Sounds like a Undercover Sony guy ;)

hehe JK
welcome, do you play with a wheel? will make you forget about forza altogether. Im kidding, but get a wheel :)

That's rather refreshing to hear Ryan, I'm so stunned I don't know what to say. I was going to say "Another XBOX diss on GT5" but your post threw me!

Having never played Forza except in the shops and never for any length of time to formulate a reasonable opinion on it, I can't say much. But I have heard enough about the game to make me want to buy an XBOX and buy the game - good racing games are few and far between and seeing as we're all racing enthusiasts anyway, I don't see why people can't enjoy both games in equal measure.

If you like GT5P, you'll be like a starving kid at the Queen's banquet come time for the full release next year. What happens between now and then is anyone's guess (Forza 3 maybe? A proper NFS?), but I hear that PD are ramping up for some good patch releases for GT5P players (damage, private rooms, possibly a few more cars and the 'Ring), but I'm having a blast on the forums at the moment and having an even bigger blast against some of the best racers I've ever met.

Great to have you on board!

👍

To show you proof that I'm a true Xbox fan (or WAS a true fan), I created a website called XboxGamePad.com and you can visit it here: http://www.xboxgamepad.com I've owned and maintained that site for at least 5 years. On top of that, I was the very first Forza Motorsport website on the Internet, until the official site "took" my userbase from me.

So, really, I was a 100% Xbox360 fan...now it's more like 45% Xbox360 and 55% Sony at the moment. I still love my Gears of War and Halo 3, but Sony is impressing me with GT5P and Resistance 2 coming out as well as Killzone.

I LOVED Forza Motorsport 1...and when there was news of Forza 2, I was probably the most excited fan out of everybody. They released a CGI trailer for Forza 2 and the development studio stated, "Our graphics look very similar to the CGI trailer." Then here comes the truth...when they revealed the actual Forza Motorsport 2, I was VERY, very, very disappointed. Did I mention I was disappointed? lol :D The cars and tracks looked like a high def version of Forza 1 and the cars actually looked a little bit worse in my opinion. The car models looked great, but the lighting and reflections are awful IMO. Also, the replays are the worst replays I've seen in a racing game and there's no excuse for that, especially since Turn 10 knows how good Polyphony's replays are. I'm hoping that Forza 3 is better, but we'll see...

Thanks for welcoming me to the community everyone!

I use to be PS1, PS2, then XBOX fan when Forza came out.. then I went back to ps2 and GT4 again. Ever since I'm the Sony lover. I still own Xbox 360 * well its my brothers* lol, but GT5 Is far better then forza because cars are more accurate then arcade forza games. And if I dare, I can say that even GT4 with DFP is far more SIM then Forza 2. Better, close to real life lap times ;)
Call me fanboy or not, but im for the TRUE SIM experience.

When I downloaded the JPN version of GT5P, I never would have thought that I'll still be playing it daily, 3 months later. Of course I supplemented that with the NA version of GT5P (Spec II) and buying myself a G25 steering wheel took the the game up another notch. I'm pretty sure that if played wisely (and dilligently), this game will take you to the time GT5 proper is released. Of course, having other driving games is hardly blasphemous. I find GRID (yes, that awful arcade racer) compliments GT5P nicely. Hoping you have a wonderful long drive with GT5P, Ryan.

Sounds to me like a Sony employee. How could you have really liked Forza Motorsport 1 and not like Forza Motorsport 2? If anything, the only reason you'd be mad about Forza 2 is the number of tracks present in the game, because other than that, it blows away every other console racing game. yes I have GT5P, and I play it with a G25 and I have a nice TV. GT5P is good looking and good physics, but that's it. In terms of gameplay elements and overall feel, Forza 2 trumps it all over (and it's been out for like a year..).

In therms of SIM forza 2 is arcade, GT5P is SIM on PC level kind of SIM! Can't touch GT5P

By the way, got pics of your diecast collection?

You on the other hand, sound very much like an xbot (oops..j/k). I'm pretty sure there are a lot of people out there that are smart enough to know and realise that GT5P is a Prologue (or gorified demo, whichever way you want to look at). I willingly acknowledged that Forza 2 is a better game than GT5P but which of the two do I prefer? Because I'm a graphic whore, my answer, undoubtedly, would be GT5P. I guess, you kind of have to accept that we're not all cut from the same cloth and each of us have our own point of view and preference. The ultimate thing to do is to be respectful of that.

I agree with you. However, I also think that the way the OP posted his messages, they're written like essays and don't sound like what a regular person would say, so it makes me suspicious of his "opinion" or whatever.

I believe him that he was an Xobox fan and now moved to PS3.. Its just when people switch over to whatever, they always feel like their eyes have been open and tend to write a lot about it. As well, its good that he made this Post because I was getting tired of Spamming threads on how GT5 is bad. Lol

Seems like every real life race car driver that review GT5P and put thoughts on it its mostly GOOD. They compare GT5P to real life cars and say that its a good sim game with out good online play and damage, and no weather, 24 hour cycle.
Yet somehow every person that never raced a real car always tend to say this game SUCKS because they compare to other games they like. And say cars behave unrealistically.. who are we going to listen to?

Lol, im broke right now cause of college so i cant get a PS3. But when im over by my local fry's electronics, i jump on there gt5 setup with the Logitech pro (i wish it was a g25 but it is a store demo) anyways, its always a breath of fresh air to jump on it, turn all the driver aids of and attack Suzuka. I usually get a crowd of people behind me amazed that i can play it so well. Otherwise its someone complaining how hard it is and it sucks. I love when that person sticks around and watches me give it a go. GT5P noobs haha.

Welcome to GTP, its nice to here a XBOX fans pov on GT5 P. I have always used Sony PS. That is all I have ever owned. You will like the world of GrandTurismo. Some of the best online drivers are here and there is always someone willing to offer help when you need it most. This site is closely policed for abuse from and towards other members. This is a big family and some days we can get crabby.:) Just one more thing, use the search function before starting a new thread. This will save you headaches down the road.👍

Broken 360

I'm thinking the guy is legit in some sense. The website thing and Whois is weird ya, but I've seen him on the CM forum.

So, ah ya. Welcome dude....👍

ComposerRyan.
Nice to see you here.I remember being a member of your site before Forzamotorsport.net took off.
I was one of the first guys to register and be active on Forzamotorposrt.net.
I also remember you asking for an interview with Dan Greenawalt which CHE replied with a somewhat 'I'll get back to you', did it ever happen?
Anyway after finishing Forza 2 i came away feeling a bit underwhelmed. Don't get me wrong it was a good game, but it didn't give me that "feel" for some reason.
I,like you, finally gave in and bought a PS3 just to see how GT5P was.
I've played all GT's before but this iteration is in a class of it's own!
The ultimate decision in me buying it was the G25, and i'll tell you what, Forza 3 better have a cockpit view and G25 support because if it doesn't, i'm afraid i might give it a pass, and that's coming from an avid lover of racing games!
Trust me get your hands on the G25 and you won't look back.

I have played Forza 2 since release and I have also played GT5P since release and because I have now returned to Forza 2 im in a good position to compare both games.

For starters what really makes GT5P stand out isn't just the far superior graphics and replays but the physics. How on earth PD developed the sensation of weight to the car by using the pad is beyond me but goes to show just how superior the physics engine actually is. I spend a great deal of time hotlapping and this is far more enjoyable on GT5P than Forza 2 because you seem more rewarded for running perfect racing lines than you did on Forza. Also the fact that the cars in time trails do not allow tuning means everyone is using the same. I also love the fact that I can make full use of the rumble strips on GT5P whereas on Forza I used to aviod them like the plague.

So you may ask why on earth have I returned to Forza 2?
The answer is apart from running hotlaps I love racing against my friends which im unable to do on GT5P. The other problem at the moment is the amount of cheating going on with the time trails because HSR, Daytona, Fuji are all abused leaving very little tracks for me to compete on.

I said to my friends the other day the ideal racing game would be GT5P graphics, physics engine with Forza 2 online features. Myself and my friends will be returning to GT5P but we are waiting for the update to allow private rooms and also hoping the penalty system is changed on those tracks I said above to prevent cheating.

Then you should come and show your support for open-region online tomorrow, with this open event!

Wow, I can't believe you actually remember the Forza site from that far back. I remember those days when we were all excited for the release of Forza. It was a special time for Xbox owners!

I was COMPLETELY underwhelmed with Forza 2. I am a graphic whore and LOVE replays....I was expecting alot to come out of it but all we got was crappy replays, "okay" graphics, and boring tracks and a boring sense of speed as well.

I just bought a Ford GT in Gran Turismo 5 prologue (it's my favorite car btw) and it felt like nothing I've ever raced with! The handling was amazing and when I watched the replay, my eyes popped out of my head. It looked EXACTLY like the real thing and the way the car drove along the track was amazing. The suspension moved accurately, the car's balance was percect, the wheels stayed in place where they were supposed to during all of the turns. And the motion blur it spectacular and gives it that TV style replay...not to mention the TV camera angles instead of those crappy floating angles found in Forza.

I should've bought GT5P a long time ago, I just didn't have the money. lol :P
