I dont know were your mom gets her figures from but a gallon here in the UK is 4.54609 litre. very near to the US measure above.

Oh, yeah, it's only about three quarters of a litre out - that's about a pint and a third. Or 20%; a fifth, like VAT, or (basic) income tax. We barely notice that.

Fuel efficiency figures are very near identical, for small numbers. Still a 20% difference, mind.

Thanks mate. I did enjoy. I have done track days at the same track in the past and it is no comparison to being a passenger on a million dollar car driven by a guy who gets paid a million dollars to drive the car for a living, doing laps almost one hole minute faster than you can do in your (comparatively speaking) POS $100k car... :-)


The thing that grabbed my attention the most was how hard the seats are. You get in and think "cool, carbon fibre seats". Then you take a few corners at full chat and think "F#$k#$g seats, can't believe how these guys drive a full race with the edges of these things digging into their thights/ back!"

I have driven a real race car. I haven't told you about it because:
- I was too busy driving and have no pictures to prove it to you.
- I wouldn't want to get Lawl from you at it "Only" being a Retired Nascar stock car at a backwater race track (Carolina Motorsport Park) with the compulsory "safety official" riding shotgun making sure I didn't wreck it AND having to pay for the privilege.

I WON A HOT LAP. Which is to say I got to be the passenger for ONE FLYING LAP in a real life V8 SUPERCAR race car (Yes it is a holden commodore with all the racing goodies) driven by one of the stars of the competition.

I never said I drove it.... geez....

I am glad you was able to experince that. Just wish some people would think the same way and stop being rude. I wish I was in the passenger seat cause I have never been in a racing car :/

Well its a little different... if your friend was smashing your dream girl you could still tag yourself in, but sitting in the passenger seat of a race car doing laps, its not like you can "do the steering" for a few corners from shotgun! In other words...its worse.
 
Got the chance to do something similar when I was younger in a Nascar stock car, if anything, it gave me a new respect for the drivers.

Mate I am just taking the piss... The whole thread is social experiment .. Why... coz my console is dead and i can't play. I pulling crazy hours at work and I can't play. So I am just having a bit of fun.

I said that. I was hoping to explain why US fuel consumption figures always look "rubbish" compared to UK figures for the same car, even accounting for differences in the test cycles. It was only a matter of time before somebody complained that 3.785 litres per gallon is "wrong", I just hoped to be at least slightly constructive.

Canada borrows much from the French language am I right.
Litre is used in France, or at least the English translation closest to Litre is used.
Good thing we don't have the old French time system that even they abandoned.

I think it might be more to do with Canada being a member of the Commonwealth of Nations, formerly the British "Commonwealth" (the more "PC" replacement for the British Empire when the guilty conscience took over. :p)

Having been formerly administered by Britain, Canada's laws may have more in common (in terms of vocabulary) with British Law (heavy use of French, thanks to the Norman Conquest) than with U.S. Law (still full of French terminology, interestingly), which are what govern these official measures for the purposes of trade etc.

Having French as the (co-)official language in parts of Canada probably helps, though, yes. 👍

EDIT: Yeah, it's been quite the excursion! :D
 
Or I'm very stupid or I still didn't understand all this story...because mixing V8 Supercars with Deep Forest with a retired Stock Car on the same thread makes my head spinning:boggled:. Anyway, congratulations for whatever you won mate:tup:
