It seems to me everybody thinks they're a ****ing car style and sales expert when it comes to BMW's new Z4, 7-series, and 5-series. Everybody's quick to parrot the 'in' viewpoint: "Fire Bangle!!!" Funnier than their brilliant commentary of the cars ("The 7-series' rear looks like two cars!!!") is the fact that these are the people who wouldn't know style if it hit them in the face.

To all the Bangle critics - the sales statistics have proved you wrong on the 7-series, and they're going to prove you wrong on the Z4. Stop pretending you know something and go back to making fun of the Cayenne. Porsche is the only company who cares less about a high school student's opinion of a $60,000 car than BMW.

It just shows what we've explained all those years, money doesn't buy taste. Rich people will buy the car with the most gizmos, not the best looking one... If we were, we'd all be driving Aston Martins.

I really like the look of the new 7 Series and I agree with you that we shouldn't listen to high school students.

I saw one of them today, parked on the side of the road, but as soon as my camera's lense had protruded (it hides when you turn it off), the traffic started moving again. :irked:
 
Let it be known that I actually like the ass of the 7 series. Though, I wouldn't say it is a improvement over previous designs. And isn't the goal of a redesign to make an improvement of some kind?

I've heard that the Z-4 has to be seen in person to be appreciated, I'll make my decision then.
As for the 745 & Cayenne...... :yuck: :rolleyes:
 
The z4 actually isn't THAT bad in person, it's pretty long considering it's a Z roadster...But....It still isn't very pretty in my opinion.
 
I actually really like the styling of the Z4, but I'm really disappointed with the styling of the new 7-series...the front is ugly...the back is ugly...the only thing I like is the interior...once inside I really really like it. I also really like the styling for the new 6-series (prototype?), except for the weird trunk lid that's similar to the new 7-series.
 
I'm with Ethix101 on this. I like the Z4 - I like that the back end has shades of 575 Maranello. The front treatment is just right. It's a good looking car.

The 7, on the other hand, is not. Its styling offends me. And rumour has it it's in for an emergency-reskin.

My point was that everybody is parroting the viewpoints that they hear from everybody else. If the original few reviewers had called the car beautiful, and that had spread, I don't think the impressionable signers of the Chris Bangle petition would've even done it.

And rumour has it it's in for an emergency-reskin.

Hopefully not - I've seen the 6-series spy shots and its rear looks the same; if they re-design the 7-series, it won't be similar enough to the 6-series.

Well... I've seen both in person. The 7-series is farking MASSIVE! If you look at just the side - from sill to window - it's got to be the biggest piece of metal ever made. The styling isn't to my tastes, but there you go.

The Z4 looks like a boss-eyed, stroke-victim Rhinocerous to me. I'm sure it's great or something, but not my cuppa. Back end is okay, I guess, although it's a bit of a confusion of circles and triangles.

Does this make me a bad person?

No, part because you preceed or end your opinions with 'I think' and similar statements, unlike the teenage brigade who goes around spouting their Bangle opinions as if it was fact.
 
Would it help if I added "Fact" at the end of each paragraph? :D

I hated the TT too - everyone else seemed to love it. To me it just looked like the new Beetle but squashed. And I hated that too :D

I don't mind the new front ends, but the rears of all the new BMWs look horrible.

BMW should just stick with their classic styling evolution instead of this ****.

Have you seen the new FF TT? It's actually quicker round a track than the entry-level 4WD model! 160hp only, but 200kg lighter (less of that hefty transmission malarky)...

Still, when I first saw one at night, with it's headlights on, I thought that I was about to be in a head-on with a stroke-afflicted giant tortoise... Horrible, horrible jelly-mould, Push-mi-pull-ya, squashed VW Bug body. And it's built on the same platform too! As are the Passat, Bora, Golf, Audi A3, S3, A4, S4, SEAT Ibiza, SEAT Leon, Skoda Octavia (etc. etc. etc.).

I think I find 'I think' and similar statements to be redundant when talking about something like style.
