I really don't wanna toot my own horn (lol toot) but i am a top notch drifter in gt4. the angles i see people doing in the videos on google vids by drift dojo are just so small. i can swing those cars around like nothing. anyone with a team should pick me up.......one problem though, i can't prove it without video proof. how can i transfer my skills to my computer so i can show you guys exactly what i have to offer. i've always wanted to show other people who were just as interested as i am in gt4 drifting :).

it's all about ds2 drifting 👍

my first suggestion is look around and search, i'm sure there is a thread already covering this. my second suggestion is use a digital camera, or a data capture card, i don't know anything about the data capture card, i just know it exists. HERE is a thread at the top of this forum telling you how to do this.

i completely missed that part, i just wnet through and figured i knew most of what was covered there. and btw, using a race wheel makes drifting 10x easier.

you are very new here. it shows. don't be so over confident and cocky or you won't get far here. i was like you once, calm it down before you start to annoy people and make enemies. this isn't "the fast and the furious" or "need for speed". talking big won't earn you respect here. being a helpful chilled out guy will.
take this in to consideration, i'll be watching you.:sly:

i am iceman, and i am here to rock your world.... pwnzors your noobs i will...lol i didn't mean to come off as one of those geeks but i am really excited about showing off. not many people are very good at this. This is the first gathering of talent i've ever found. i really want to prove myself, so i'm taking suggestions for which car and track to use; i am at the mercy of the forums.

just calm down dude!, it doesn't come off as a geek, just cocky. have a look around, there are loads of threads that answer your questions.

thats a bit better. just make sure you keep your self in a sort of stealth mode. don't draw attention to yourself in the wrong way by talking yourself up and trying to explode onto the scene. take it easy. work your way up and if you have the skills you say you do then you will surely rise here. i suggest entering the drift photo competition this week is week 64.

i am iceman,

Do I detect a Val Kilmer fan?

heh, I was about to post similarly to slider-s15 (without the triple postage). But as long as you're here to improve and contribute in a constructive fashion, we'll have no problems.

One thing I do want to point out though, is that the DD vids you mention are done on xlink in arcade stock cars. Perhaps you realized this already, perhaps not.

drift photo's you say? I wanna learn more, is there a thread already?

and about that arcade mode thing, the same thing applys in-game as in real life. Anything can drift, it is up to the drivers will to make it do as he wants it to.

and no, i'm not into old actors lol, i myself am iceman, a nickname i picked up from some friends. My guitar is called the ibanez ic400, otherwise know as the iceman. I was shredding it up one day at school and these dudes were so impressed they dubbed me iceman :sly:

the first question you ask could have been answered by looking in the drift sub forum. you really need to search before you ask questions, otherwise people will become hostile towards you for asking things that have been answered before

There's alot of stuff about competitions, i don't know which one i should be looking at. i kinda need someone to show me the ropes, this forum is alot different than the ones i used before. sorry if i seem annoying, i'm here to share a love for drifting. i am getting a bit ahead of myself because i am so eager to see what this place has to offer. my bad.

I'm assuming you're looking at all the threads related to the GTPDC's. I wouldn't worry about that.
Just head to the drifting competitions subforum. Competitions that are currently active are stickied. The DPC adn WDS run a new competition every week.

I run the Weekly Drift Series, you're welcome to join once you are able to capture videos (digital camera or capture card method are both fine). It will be a good way to measure your skill against a dozen or so other active forum members.

i found the photo competion, so i will be sure to enter that one by this evening(i got some sick ideas)

as soon as i get batteries i will make a drift video and enter the actual competition, and see exactly whats going on.

If you want to prove yourself just join the WDS, it's really easy to record your video, just grab a video capture card like this one and you can record your replays. But just to a heads up, I entered twice with (what I consider) great drifts and lost badly.

sounds tough, i wanna see some of the older competition vids, but i can't seem to find them, anyone got an old link? i wanna size up the competition.....nos has me worried now.

edit:why did youtube kill your vids?

double edit: why are all youtube gt4 drifting vids dead?

If want to improve yourself...read the sticks and call me in the morning.

Well, it's all very subjective. It's not GTPDC judging where you'll get scored regardless of what you put in. It's public scoring with no set criteria - just a yes/no kinda thing.
Simply put, the best drift (from a technical standpoint) may not always win depending on who votes, etc etc. But, it's still fun.

GTPDC is a better indicator of exactly how you fare vs others in a variety of categories... but as it stands the GTPDc is much more difficult and time consuming to get a good run for.

i noticed that the gtpdc courses were longer. i kinda liked the wds course, like real competition (d1 is pretty much the only competition that will use a full course, most amatuers can't afford the tires for full course runs) i think i would have killed on the current course, but i am a bit over-active, so i usually think i can take on the world.

props Boundary, your videos are good, clean drifts. i would tighten up the drift though, come in closer to the rumble strips. how did you, or anyone get all those gold medals? it seems like i can never win no matter how hard i try.

i wanted to go to college for mechanical engineering, but i screwed up the last part of highschool, so now i'm going for automotive tech somewhere and work my way up from there. Which university are you going to?

Im in your same field,But I only had one year of Auto because my school was new, was also late on the Vocational Education...

YouTube banned my old account for whatever reason. I registered a new name for WDS, here's my two WDS entries.

Here're my other videos, I'm hosting them on DailyMotion now.

But like Boundary_Layer said, it really depend on if the voters like you video or not. It's not only the drift matters, it's a combination of a lot of things.

ahh...i am but a young grasshopper...i will learn from all of your input..i'm trying to locate a cheap way to get my videos online. right now thoguh, only video cameras are within my means(i'm broke, but assume alot of you are too, #1 lesson of the world, being an adult sucks:crazy: )

i'm having trouble on the second turn on the fuji speedway with my rx8(just for fun) should i go all out and just slide the whole thing, or start late? what are you guys getting, because i can only make it consistently (9/10 times) when i start late, but i can't seem to get very many full slides, like all the way around that turn. it's more like 3/10 there.

RacerX_pleecu,

I recently joined the forum, and i joined WDS pretty much straight away, i don't have the card to transfer my replays to computer so i record them like this. I just set my laptop up next to the TV and use a webcam (in my case i use the PS2 eyetoy) to record the tv at around 45fps.
It seems to be working quite well.

In regards to some of the comments you have made, dont be to quick to throw around banter about not being a "geek". In some circles this a positive comment, yet to outsiders this an be an absolute insult. Since i have been here I haven't tried to get to big for my boots, and i dont think that you should either..

Anyway i will await your video to see your incredible skills...
