The Ferrari F430.

Everybody already has one for progression. Even if it wasn't required Id estimate 90% of the player base would have one, because its a Ferrari and its the current model. And every review I've ever read or watched about the thing went on and on about the perfection, the passion blah blah blah. I wanted so much to get in it and hate it. I wanted it all to be hype badge loyalty. I wanted it to understeer when i pushed it, then cut my head off with oversteer when i pushed it hard.

Although i hate to admit it however, i am absolutely in love with the damn thing. perhaps its the GT design team falling prey to all the reviews and oggling that the media gives it. but their rendition is all i have to go off of. (I barely have mustang money so Ferrari money is something that will remain in my dreams).

From what i can gather though, Ferrari has made their masterpiece here. The F430 must be, engineering wise, The best they could do within the laws of physics. The turn in is sharp and responsive, a bit of understeer to let you know that you are actually using the chassis, then miles of neutral beautifull steering. Then if you really are making a hash of it the back end steps out slowly and calmly. And as for the lift-off oversteer that can kill middle engine cars, where is it? There just isnt any, high speed corner, sharp lift, back end steps out, 15 or so degrees of countersteer and its happy to kill speed and gently decrease the radius of the corner. Its as if the car is being controlled through mental synapse instead of physical controlls. As a drivers car then, it is absolute bliss.

The only complaint i have is that the styling is to my eyes a bit off, i think the 360 was a prettier car, but the 430 is by no means ugly. However from where I'm sitting it is a thing of beauty. when not stringing together corners im bathed in that phenomenal 9000RPM limited symphony. It is fantastic, i couldnt be happier driving it, and i couldnt be more pissed off about it.

What do you guys think?

(Professional, all off)

Right with ya there mate :D

I can't get enough of driving it. When playing GT5P, I'm basically just either drifting with it on Eiger or cranking out laps on Suzuka (Professional, no aids).

Sure, I know I'm not uber-fast or anything, but it's just that much fun to drive, I don't really care :P

Funny thing is, I can drive 5 laps in the F430 on Suzuka and shave a few tenths off, but I can hop in the GTR and smash out a lap 3 seconds faster without really trying. For me, the drive is so much more involved (and somewhat more difficult), and in the end, it's about challenging yourself, isn't it? :) Far more satisfying too.

For the same reasons, but in a much more raw feel, the F40 is great too. Can get roughly similar times to the F430, but more difficult. Is a beast to drive!

Styling... Yearh well.. As I see it, it went downhill after the 308 series :-)

I agree with the rest of your points as well 👍

I am excited to get behind the F40, it is just such an elemental machine. Its the ferrari rocket-powered go-kart. and when i was very very young i saw a video of a driver doing some SERIOUS doughnuts in one, so thats that for me, the car is epic! =)

Well, I never was a fan of Ferrari till I drove the F430 and the F40 in GT5p. Now these are my favourite cars in GT5p. I always seem to pick on of these 2.

:)

Compared to it's other fellow supercars, I actually find the F430 to be the most challenging to drive, particularly with it's above average tendency to oversteer (and I hate oversteer).

And, unlike the majority here, I'm absolutely in love with it's design. It is, in my opinion, the best of Ferrari's to date (bar maybe the F50).

Nice write-up pal, I'll have to give the F430 another look. I had one for progression, but sold it once its usefulness had been exploited. 👍

I only bought the F430 because i had to. I realy don't like ferrari's and actualy al non japanese cars.

Really like the styling of the F430, but 360 was also very nice. But also the newer 599 and 612 i like. Dont like the looks of the F40,super america, though ...

one of my favourite cars too, far less twitchy/overly responsive compared to the tuned 111r elise, and is good competition for it at HSR

The F430 is well balanced machine, it does not suffer from the side effects most MR's do with weight shifting and as a side effect rear weight shifting doesn't help rear traction all that much, fun fast car though.

After the F430 go and have a spin in the 512BB with no assists and no ABS, then you can tell how far Ferrari's chassis development has come. Great fun though anyway.

^^ Very nice pic mate! 👍

The 360 was VERY nice! I'm hoping PD will slipstream the Challenge Stradale into an update. (Well I can wish can't I? ;))

The F40 has been my favorite car design wise since childhood, and it still is. My favorite car to drive in GT5:P is the F430, and I've become quite dominant on 700p Suzuka with it. The trick to this car is embracing its lift oversteer and using it to your advantage, much like a Porsche.

MMS08 much?

You know what really kills me inside though? It was only 2 weeks ago that I found out my dad's friend recieved the keys to a brand-new (after a painstaking wait), red (of course) Ferrari F430. Too bad it will be awhile before I get a drive in it (ill do a report on it), since my parents don't understand what a machine like that means to a kid like me.

Oh god yeah I love both these cars. I would love to win a 700pp race with the F40, but its just too hard on the pad as the amount of fine steering input required is too great than I am able to make within the limitations of the controller sticks. Definitely one for the steering wheel. As for the F430 - absolutely a dream to drive - the first post sums it up.... balancing the throttle and setting up a gentle slide with early turn in lets it hit the apex perfectly and fast too! I have won quite a few races with the F430 and I think I have the perfect winning setup. Driving a GT-R is boring, personally, the next task is to get the Aston Martin DB-9 up to scratch, as the Ferrari and the Aston should be a great match - the Ferrari corners better but has slightly less power than the Aston.

+1. It's very satisfying when you can get it right.

Whats wrong with you? You can't just love old Ferraris and never open your eyes for the new ones. Ferraris are a little like BMW in design (ok... but hear me out). They are always before their time. When i first saw the F430 i though "oh no they adopted the enzo rear lights, so awful!" But it grows as time pass. Today i love the F430 and the Enzo! Just like the BMW 5-series, which was very awful when it came.

Second thought is to the thread starter... I see you do watch Top Gear a lot, due to your writing. I actually thought so before i saw your name. I know exactly what feeling you had when you wrote it... "I am Jessa!". But you're not! (i think :S). I'd much rather read something by you and not you posing as Jessa.

Thats it for the negatives. Negative thoughts go away! The Ferrari F430 is an amazing car to drive, you think high speeds and a monsterous scream from the back would scare you. But it's so controllable it makes you think you are a part of the beast. That's exactly the feeling i get from it. Amazing! (GT5P not Real Life)

Never said I didn't like the new Ferraris (notice I posted pics of the F430 Scuderia, which I've seen and do like too). I just appreciate the styling of the classics too. I don't think anything is "wrong" with me.
New Ferraris are probably the best looking new cars available today too IMHO.
Just clearing up my position :)
