I cannot adjust TCS settings during driving in races and Practice Free Drive

I'm using a DS3 controller and in A-spec races, Arcade Mode races and the Practice Free Drive mode in GT mode, I’ve noticed I cannot change my TCS settings in race. During driving, I can change ABS settings, brake balance for front and rear but not TCS, the TCS option is greyed out. I’ve noticed I can only change TCS settings when I'm driving in the Arcade Mode Time Trial. I can adjust TCS setttings outside the race (or practice free drive) in the Driving Options screen but not during the actual driving. Anyone know how to fix this? I’m sure I could adjust TCS before or is my memory about adjusting TCS in races and Practice Free Drive mode wrong?

The answer I got when I asked the same question was that a software upgrade cut the option. It started about a month ago, as far as I can figure. It is supposed to come back. Something in the back of my head says that it was done on purpose to even the playing field with the Thrustmaster "official" wheel. It does not have the functionality of the DFGT wheel.

I'm suprised it doesn't work with the DFGT wheel as welll even though it's supported by GT5.
 
Does this option correct itself If simulation Is applied to driving options?
 
This is a TCS bug since the 1.05 update. I have a DS3 and set up the RA (Driving Options) menu to the R1 menu and all the settings to the D-pad so that I could adjust brake balance during races as I prefer front heavy braking to throw the back end of a car out a bit on corners and I usually forget to set it up before each race. So the RA menu is cool for that.

Here's how I know/think it is a bug:

I have two accounts on my PS3. My main account which was started on Nov 24th GT5 v1.0 and upgraded as the updates came out.

My second account was set up after update 1.05 came out and I've just been racing seasonal events on it for fun, practice and cash (making the seasonal events challenging, etc) and to send a few cars back and two between my accounts to do said seasonal events.

Main account: cannot set TCS once a race has started.
2nd account: in the same races I can adjust TCS mid-race using the DS3.

So it has to be a bug. It's annoying, coz I like adjusting TCS to 0 to try it out, but if it's a very powerful car with crappy tires I want to change it to TCS 1 sometimes. On my main account I have to come out of a race, set it and start over. On the 2nd account, in the same race I just change it mid lap.

Every other setting on the RA menu is available on both accounts. i.e. I can adjust brake balance mid race on both accounts. I can change ABS on both mid race, etc.

I only have a DS3 + a fatty PS3 UK original - the one with memory card slots in it.
 
It doesn't correct itself with any devices. It's a bug in the 1.05 update, I believe.

Game saves created after 1.05 seem to be okay. i.e. late adopters or 2nd accounts.

It happens if you enter an online lobby where TCS and ABS have been disallowed. After that you cannot change them using the RA function. If you can currently change them, avoid online lobbies where they are not allowed and you'll be fine.

If you have already lost the functionality you'll just have to pray that PD fix it sometime in the future.
 
Got this too. Annoying in practice that you have to quit out to change your settings. Fingers crossed for an update.

Also, what's the 'simulation' setting I keep seeing mentioned?

Ok thanks, though today I was driving in the Arcade mode races and weirdly my TCS could be adjusted whilst driving. No idea why I can adjust it again in Arcade races. However, A spec races and Practice Free Drives still won't allow me to adjust TCS whilst driving.
