I'm trying to connect on-line since the first day of the release... after some minutes of waiting I couldnt reach the server... everything is working, PSN Store, Internet and other games... only the GT5 can't connect...
I had problems last night. I was logged in and could search for rooms but I kept getting errors when I tried to join. Today its ok.
I think its worth getting a sticky thread in here for checking in on server status. i.e. Finding out if its just you that is having problems or everyone. That way we wouldn't get new threads whenever people have problems connecting.
I know that GT5 will sometime disconnect you from the "mothership" if there is a long period of inactivity or playing offline (may be?); this is probably done to conserve server resources. I noticed somtimes after some offline sessions, when I head to the community screen, all my friends disappear. This is a sign that you've got disconnected.
Simply, exit all the way back to the main screen where you can choose GT Mode, wait for it until you see the "updates" section loaded, head back into the game are you should be reconnected. Then try to join an online game and see if it works.

I had the same message 'could not connect to server' yet was still able to join and create rooms. This happens every time I go to drive online but never seems to cause a problem with getting connected.
I'm no tech wiz so I guess in my case it could just be a fault on the game. I really don't know!
Well it’s too frustration… every time I start the game I have to wait 4/5 minutes for the connection… and after that… always the same error… “impossible to establish the connection with the server”… I got this error since the release day… and I never could play on-line…
I can connect with the Playstation Store, I can go to the Internet, I can play other online games… but GT5 I can’t…
Can anyone help me? I don’t have any more ideas to try…
Yeah Guys if ANyone knows how to fix these problems please do help ,It is Frustrating everytime I join I game when the loading screen begins I actually hear the other guys talking but just before actualy joining the room it disconnects me from the server please help if anyone knows

I actually don't think I had this Problem before the update I will try to Join a Friend's Lounge (which is the only way I played online before the Update)and see if it still works .I still can create and Join my own Lounge .Hope somebody fixes this I want to play online really bad 👎
I had issue when my cable was connected via DLink. Problem was solved by connecting PS3 straight to ADSL modem. No more freezing, waiting and error messages.

To be honest they need to sort this online trash (currently) out. Its becoming such a pain in the backside keep seeing error here error there popping up on my screen. If its gona carry on like this they may as well take the online servers down. Currently as it stands many people by the looks of things are unhappy. So PD if you happen to read this post (probably not) just sort it out a.s.a.p. Enough said from me.
Yeah I cleared My cache ,I finally joined a room and just before I started the race I got DIconnected from the server.But I did play alot of online at a Friend's Lounge so thanks a million
Well nothing around… I deleted the all the network parameters to start from the beginning, I delete the catch files, and until now I always got the same error “impossible to establish the connection with the server”… I made the 1.05 update without problems but I can’t connect to the server… is so frustrating…
I have been having problems playing online since the first day of getting this game. I have only been able to complete one race in three weeks. This is unacceptable.
When I create a room it says I have NAT type 3 and that my bandwidth is normal. Now I know NAT type 3 contributes to global warming and yada yada yada but I have played on other games without any problems and it says my bandwidth is normal.
Now it keeps disconnecting me from the server whenever I join a room. Either immediately or after a few seconds. If it's not this problem then whenever I try to connect to a room, it says 'Network Incompatibility' with the room owner.
Seriously for all their jazz regarding these recent updates, they are all worthless unless they fix the online. It's 2010. Not 2005. Did they hibernate for 5 years? Just unacceptable ********.
Mines let me connect to the GT5 server for the first 2 weeks, then i got some good cars so decided to show them off online on my profile to my mates and have not been able to go online since
Hangs on the GT5 logo at startup for a few minutes, then tells me it couldn't connect. Skip the intro movie, and when I get to the main menu, I have no cursor. I have to sign out of the PSN for it to give me the cursor and movement back.
