Yeah, im starting to like the standard cars.. Some of them can be gems. Esp. when online play, its nice to mix it up with a car that not many would touch.

Going online and drifting in a 71 240zg or a bone stock c4 corvette zr1.

I think it's the look of them that people don't like.

Yeah it's basically just the looks and the lack of interior that people don't like. They still use the same physics engine as the premium models so if you can get past the forementioned issues they're still a lot of fun.

The Holden Monaro is my favourite car so far. Putting out about 500hp with sports exhaust, sounds awesome and is perfect for drifting. Luckily, its also one of the better looking standard models too (the car itself is beautiful, but the quality is also pretty good compared to other standards)

I have bought a few standards and I am enjoying them. But my love is with the premiums, but I am driving the standards almost as much.

When i first heard of the whole "premium vs standard" cars ages ago, i just assumed id get the premium ones when GT5 was released. That was most likely the case with many others as well.

That has not been the case though, as i have more standards than premiums as of now. 👍

I don't use them a lot but i'm addicted to buying them , particularly one's that hardly ever show up , latest purchase was the Suzuki GSXR/4 concept , being a bike fan i had to get that 👍

Yeah and one of the main reasons is because most of the cars you win in races are standards.

My dad has an 04 Pontiac GTO (which is a re badged Monaro) the car is also awesome in real life, though it is a bit big for drifting. At over 100 MPH the car still feels extremely stable, and you would never think you are in the triple digits.

I'm coming to like a few them. I bought the Audi R8 LMS Race Car and it went from there. Some of the standard cars still look horrible though and will never be in my garage.

I drive more my Standard's then my premium's. More choice, thus statistically talking more people will drive standard.

I always cruise the used car lot buying awesome standards. I gotta catch 'em all!

Aye, Standard cars are fine. They look decent, sound and handle much better than GT4, and are incredibly collectible.

I actually got used to standard cars again, but then occasionally for some races I randomly go to a premium one, go to interior view and then im like "damn" D:

Some are pretty horrible looking, but there are a few that stand up to scrutiny and are a blast to drive. My favs so far?

Corvette Grand Sport.
Mugen Civic.
Gt350.

I really want the Bluebird Rally car but so far no luck. Ugh!

The Veyron and the Furai Concept look very good, and I too enjoy the standards a lot. I just wish they had atleast similar customization as premiums, meaning wheels, aero kits and carbon hoods.

I dont care at all about the difference between them. I think about 90% of my driving has been in standards.

Its whats on the inside that matters, no not interiors but physics.

When going 150 down the track the last thing I think about is how my car looks.

Number of Standard Cars I have bought: 24
Number of Premium Cars I have bought: 2

In fact the only reason I bought 1 premium is because I wanted to see what race mods were like. I haven't really even raced it. The only Premiums that I have spent any time driving are the Kart in the Karting events, a NASCAR in those events, and a Ferrari for various MR, Italian and the Ferrari races.

I rarely use cockpit view because I like to be able to see more and I feel like the cockpit view doesn't show a realistic amount. My favorite car is my RGT, which looks fine to me in photomode, though I can't zoom in that far. All in all though, the standard/premium thing doesn't bother me in the slightest. I just wish that there were more cars that were race-moddable, or that we could add more aero stuff to other cars.

If there was a hood view I wouldnt even care if the cars were premium or not. In chase cam I don't mind them but I can't stand driving in chase view with a wheel. The bumper cam is too low and impossible to tell where the front of your car is since it is invisible and a few feet in front of the cam. Roof view is like driving one of those London busses from the upper deck.

I never drive with cockpit view anyways so I could care less about standard vs premium. GT5 has done a fantastic job with making each car "feel" like it should, ie the Veyron feels like a lead sled the Mugen like it's riding on rails. So that makes getting standard cars a great experience.

So what if I can't add wheels and a I can't use it in photo travel? Who gives a 🤬? This game is supposed to be the ultimate driving simulator, not the ultimate replay / picture whore beauty contest simulator.

Not to mention, there are standard cars and then there are what I consider to be standard+ cars. Most cars fall into the standard+ category (like the Veyron). They are clearly ports, but work has been done to clean them up a bit and make them respectable. That leaves the standard of the standard. Cars like the Beetle RSI that appear to be PSP ports or something because they truly look horrendous. However, in my experience these PSP ports are the minority of "standard" cars.

My standard RS6 has a few rough spots, but overall, in an online race or whatever, you wouldn't be able to tell if it was standard or premium.

If you want to be able to see more, you could move the view up. It helps quite a bit with that.

It is a shame that some people deprive themselves from standard cars. Sure, the graphics are not as good as Premium cars. There's no cockpit view, either. They are missing a lot of things. But physics have changed. And that's a very good reason for me to use them. They have become new (to me).

Don't mind them at all, They sound and look better than GT4. I just wish they had Standard wheels to go along with them. Some of those stock wheels are just plain butt ugly.

People love to psych themselves out of enjoying things, especially with help from the internet. I never had a problem with the standards, I love every car that I love in this game, I don't stop and convince myself "I shouldn't enjoy it because PD failed me and they aren't premium."

I swear gamers are turning into the old lady with a million coupons who complains about the tiniest dent in her catfood cans.

+1... I really wish they could bring us the GT4 wheels for these... that would be awesome.

Standard cars FTW!!! I love standard cars. I know that not all of them are up to scratch, but there are some exceptional models. I have at least 3 times as many standard cars as I have premium, with the majority being brought and not gifted. 👍

My standard cars will wreck any premium cars u got. Who actually drives cockpit view anyway?

I'm starting to feel the love for standard cars.
