Hello there,

I dunno if it is only me but sometimes i think that gt5 is a bit unrealistic. for example, sometimes with my Bob´s and myself, we enter a race where the typical opponents are let´s say just super cars, like pagani´s, enzo´s, etc. But then the weird think is that i can enter the race with my FGT and then I can win easily any race. Sometimes is not funny and fair to see how i can make 2 or 3 overlaps. I think PD should take this in consideration and change the type of cars that can enter a competition in a following game update. Otherwise the nice sensation of winning is gone.

For example i just bought the Ferrari F1 10, and damm it, the sensation to be able to win a race with this monster is amazing. really makes you feel like if you have dominated the beast.

I wish all the other races will be as fair like this.

I dunno if is just me or someone else shares my point of view. :nervous:

Agree... but try the new Expert Seasonal Challenges ;)

Well there is a huge variety of races and I think a lot of people don't look at their typical opponents because if you did you would see what cars are most common in the event and what kind of tires that they use. I personally didn't look at my typical opponents for every single event and then proceeded to made a car that could compete fairly with the other racers because that would take to much time and money IMO but if you want a good sensation of winning simply make a car that resembles other typical cars in the race and use the same tires, they can make a huge difference. PD allowed many unfairly matched cars to enter races because I think they thought it would take to much time to make a car that was very similar to the ones in a certain event and a lot of people, including myself just want to get the races done.

i find racing tyres unrealistic. they grip too much to last so long.

Racing Hard tires have more grip than Racing Rain tires.......... when racing in the RAIN.

Want something more unrealistic than that?! :grumpy:

I don't agree. First off, there isn't even realism in the game in the sense that you can easily beat the competition even if you take one of the cars your competition is using. It's still easy to win. In order to make it a challenge and get that nice sensation of winning, you need to take a car that's way underpowered with respect to the competition and/or use lesser tires than the competition (expert challenge excluded). To further restrict the cars here to cars much closer to the competition wouldn't really do anything here. It's still going to be an easy win. And if you would put even harsher restrictions on the car you can use in order to force a challenge, then you might make it indeed hard for people to win who aren't such good drivers (see expert challenge). But, and here's the thing, you can already make it a good competition based on the car you choose and the tires you use. Nobody forces you to use a car that overpowers the competition. There are, on the other hand, drivers who want easy wins, maybe because they're not really after a sensation of winning, but after easy money, so they can buy their next car. Should they really be forced by the game to not be able to have easy wins? In fact, sometimes an easy win is all I'm looking for. Sometimes I feel like dominating the field. And when I do not feel like that, well, then I make the according car choices. I'm all for having choice, and I wouldn't like it at all if PD took that away in a future update. There, that's my two cents worth.

In GT4 arcade mode you could choose AI level and this determined what cars they drive, wouldn't mind this again instead of a random field (not random but you can't choose so you're not sure).

yeah, there should be more restrictions for thhe races in gt mode, but even then, the AI is a bit too slow :/. I can beat the AI using much slower cars than they are most of the time.

I usually try to choose a car/tires that will be a challenge. If I miss-judge and find myself way ahead, sometimes I will challenge myself. I take that extra little part of the track on Tsubuka after the bridge, or I pretend I lost 3rd gear and skip past it when upshifting or downshifting, or I will put a book under the throttle pedal and only allow myself 3/4th throttle. Just something to keep it interesting.

Well if you ramp up your FGT to 900HP you will defiantly beat any stock Enzo or Zonda...

really?!?!? sweet

I dunno if it is only me but sometimes i think that gt5 is a bit unrealistic.

That is because it's a video game. If you want to have a closer race you need to pick a car which is going to give you a tougher challenge against the AI drivers (which, sadly, are not very good).

It's true that if you chose you can enter most races with an overpowered car. You can even use tires that are superior to the competition.

The downside to this is that you have to police yourself in order to get competition out of a race against the AI. If you want a closer race don't use an overpowered car and most importantly don't use better tires than the computer cars.

I like that they don't place many restrictions on races because it gives me the freedom to enter any car I like. If I want a closer race I'll limit the car I use. Sometimes however, I like to lap the field in my Zonda R. PD gives me the option of doing both.

Heh heh I dealt with this phenomenon way back in GT2 7 years ago! I remember getting the '84 Ford RS200, blowing the Ai away over and over again and then one day thinking "wait a minute...blowing 'em all away gets BORING FAST". Much better to have a challenge for sure.

There are several ways to combat this. Take a gander at how much power the Ai has in the Opponents list. Try to figure how good you are as a driver. Can you typically blow them away with 50 hp less? Once you figure this out, that's a good place to start making the game more challenging.

I'm making a racing guide for GT5 (see the website in my sig below), which includes mathematical formulas for predictably setting up your car race after race. Unfortunately, it takes a long time to get this done...so far I've only completed the Beginner's League (A and B spec) and started the Amateurs. But the **** works. Try it if you can figure it out...

the most unrealistic thing would be the tires in my opinion. how do racing softs last longer than racing hards?:dunce:

what Gran Turismo needs is completely new AI, not the same once since PS2 era, AI is so stupid in this game that even in seasonal events they need to let it start few minutes ahead of you so there will be a challange

They did revamp the AI quite a bit, actually. They leave it up to the gamer to decide how difficult the race will be. If you're not a very good driver and don't have the time to become one (like me) you get to slap a turbo on the Toyota 88C-V and blow everyone out of the water from the first turn on. On the other hand, if you're like many others on GTP and a hardcore GT5'er with a racing cockpit and the works, you can also choose a car with lower PP and inferior tires and win a 10-lap race by a mere 1.XXX seconds whilst avoiding mistakes and flawlessly outdriving the AI.

I've said this on GTP many times: GT5 is what you make it. ;)

Well that's a programming flaw with the game. They need an update to fix that.

They've definitely made it more difficult now. At least, try the new Expert Seasonal Event. That's how difficult they can get the races to be now.

👍

That's why I don't understand the OP. You're getting too heated over something you could be doing differently.

Some things in GT5 are deffinately unrealistic but not if you use a FGT against the AI, there it's not the game that makes it unrealistic ;)

Offline you have to restrict yourself to your skills! It's that simpel, someone needs a FGT in the Dreamcar Championship to win others can do it with a more competetive car! I understand the even casual players want to see most of the game and that is good like it! And for those coming with but I deserve better because I'm a pro, go and get you're platin throphy ;)

You have it in your power to use what car you see fit.. If YOU want to use an fgt against a enzo.. Dont blame PD.. Blame your self!

Yea, I'm getting sick of this. They really need to address this. I have a feeling they eventually will. Every GT (except GT2) has had hard tires that last significantly longer than softs.

I feel that all is fine here you can adjust your car down to suit your skill.
Some people just can not win with lesser cars so they tryed to make the game at least playable for new players.

Traction events kill the tyres. More grip = less sliding = more tyre life, if that's how you drive.

i find racing tyres unrealistic. they grip too much to last so long.

I ran softs on my X2010 during the Indy 500 and i found i'd run out of fuel after 10-11 laps and run out of tires at (est.) 15-18 laps. Thats a short range for a 26.5 gallon tank, i know. But, tires in real racing can not usually last longer than about 8-9 laps on a car of that power and the way is works its tires (8+ g-forces)

 Just think..soft tires used to last way less than this in GT3 & 4. You'd be lucky if you got 3 or 4 laps.

Those were the Super Soft tires. ;) They had no use beyond setting qualifying laps.

I think the biggest issue, even with the super cars, is the driving line the ai takes. I noticed that every corner they take, they don't take the chances I take. They enter slow, hit the apex and leave slow. They enter at the exact speed the flashing red gear warning is trying to tell you to take a corner at. For me, I set quite a bit of oversteer. I enter quick, slam the brakes just a bit before the apex and then gun it. The way mine is set up, when I do hit the brakes in a turn is causes my back end to swing slightly. Once this happens, then I gun it and take off. So I can enter fast and leave fast. I'm toying with little slide correction and such right now, which is allowing me to do slight corner sliding and is resulting in even faster lap times then I previously had.

The ai's lack of chance taking is even evident in my B spec guys. I find myself yelling at the tv at times in frustration when they hit the brakes in a corner when they could have gone my way and passed the competition.

This is EXACTLY what I'm looking for.
Was thinking about it like 2 weeks ago, "Wish someone with better knowledge than me made a list of cars for each race so that I choose difficulty level".
Looking forward to this.
If you somehow have the opportunity to make a list, please put my in that list and PM when you release anything.

Just sometimes?
Until you can get a concussion & wind up in a hospital or the grave from playing GT5.... well, then it will remain unrealistic. ;)
