Everyone knows that EA doesn't hand out Free DLC and pretty much only care about making money. But, I understand why now. I think they just got tired of all the whiny fanboys and said, "Fine, you're not happy with the quality of our games, and want to whine about everything, you get no free DLC and have to overpay for the DLC you do get." and "🤬 us? No, 🤬 you."

Honestly, i was one of the guys that boycotted EA some years ago.

Now all my gaming hatred is on Activision side. They were a good company some years ago, but then Bobby became too greedy.
DLC : 5 maps (3 revamps) = 15 €

Now Riticello is not the nicest guy too, but at least look at the games they made in the last years.
New franchises 👍

acti tried new franchises and they didn't sell that well, so they closed the studios.
Singularity is an excellent game, and i love what Raven games did in their cycle.
Same goes for Blur amongst other.

EA continues at least with one sequel to look where it goes (dead space, Mirrors Edge,...)

I think we the customers hold the power in our hands, and we should vote with our money. We brought Ea nearly down until they changed, now it's Activison's turn.

I rarely buy DLC, because most of the time it should be included with the game.
I was shocked when i read that COD Blops DLC was the most sold DLC on PS3.

Look at Zipper (MAG) and BFBC2 : so many free DLC, and good stuff. That is how it should be. And these games get all my support

And EA knows when to leave the companies it owns to their own devices. I mean, they've got Maxis (Sims), Bioware (Mass Effect and Dragon Age), Criterion Games (Burnout, NFS HP), and a bunch of others that they usually just leave alone. I mean for NFS HP, EA let Criterion come up with their own thing. All they did was tell Criterion that they wanted them to make a Need For Speed game. Criterion were the ones that said, "let's make a Hot Pursuit title."

Activision always has to have their hands in everything or literally, nothing at all. I think it was Activision that came up with the ad campaign for Bizarre Creations' two games. And I think Activision sucks at making good TV ads.

EA's and Activision are two of the oldest game companies out there with Activision being older. Maybe Activision's just getting too old. I mean, look at Atari. They were the first game company and they're hanging on by a thread.

I think you'll find that they charge you for DLC not because they are "tired of all the whiny fanboys" but because they are a corporation that has to earn money for it's shareholders. Why does everyone get so up in arms about paying for DLC? Someone worked hard to produce extra content for a game and for their effort, they get paid for it, just like any other goods or service.

Let's remember that no one is forcing you to purchase DLC. It doesn't impact or stop you from finishing the main quest line of the original game you purchased at full price.

Sure, we would all love free content (me included) however it's not unreasonable to expect a company to want to charge for a product it produced.

I agree completely with your point, the thing that always gets to me is when it's questionable if said content was not done by the time of release.

Also there's the overpricing, like Capcom that charge way too much for costumes for their fighting games, I really like the costumes but $5dlls for something that doesn't really add anything to the gaming experience seems a little steep.

All said I really don't think EA has a flawed system, I mena sure they sell day-1 DLC but they're just unlocks for people too lazy to play the game and unlock the content themselves, and in the whole corporate greediness I agree that Activision takes it for the pricing structure and while it may be a separate issue how they've been closing studios.

I agree that a lot of the DLC available out there is overpriced. The best way to tell companies this is to vote with our wallets. The only reason most of the DLC out there is overpriced is because people are willing to pay for it.
