Somewhere.
I don't want to see anything regarding houses or scholarships, or long term future, for in this context, this part's already taken care of. ;) You just want to treat yourself to a nice car, or cars, or even trucks. 200 000$ is a nice number, so we'll go with that. This should be interesting, and it'll show how creative people are about their dreams. :)

200 000$ USD is, at 1:51 am Eastern Time on June 3rd, 2004:

163,963.25 €
272,695.28 Canadian Dollars
109,111.81 £
22,125,744.76 ¥

( I think that covers it for the most common currencies, right?)

If you want to include pictures, or links to different vehicles, feel free to do so.

Spend away!

$200000 = R1.3 mil

I would buy:

Subaru_Impreza_22B_02.jpg

1 x 2nd hand Subaru 22b (R400000) [2 in SA]
vtrsp1honda.jpg

1 x Honda VTR1000 SP1 (R130000)
965_Turbo36_01.jpg

1 x Porsche 964 Turbo (R 500000)

With the R170000 left over, I would try and get......
1956FordF-100-2.jpg

1 x 1956 Ford F-100

So for around £100,000 i'll start with a 2003 TVR Cerbera 4.5 for £45,950. (Although apparently, Mike say's this isn't a picture of a TVR. Well I can see a TVR, he just sucks)Edit: Happy now Mike? Can you see a TVR?

My Next choice would be a 1999 Toyota Altezza RS200 Z Edition for 12,995. Although i'd have to get rid of that ugly spoiler.
attachment.php

Then a 1994 LANCIA Integrale Evo 2 for £14,495.
attachment.php

Finally i'd get a Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth for £12,999.

I love Autotrader.

That comes to around £85,000. I think the rest would probably go into keeping the Cossie and the Integrale to keep em working.

My dreams don't happen to include cars at the moment.

Sorry, just a bit hacked off these days ;)

Thats fine then, but if your dreams dont include cars, dont post in a "Dream Car" thread.

1. '04 Lexus IS300 that I'm going to prep for my new professional racing career. :D

Mod's to include:

  • Toyomoto Stage 2 turbo
  • Full turbo exhaust
  • HKS Hipermax coilovers
  • Getrag 6speed tranny
  • 2JZ-GTE TT internals
  • Upgraded clutch and flywheel
  • Stillen big brake kit
  • Some sort of functional aerodynamic package
  • Wheels 17x8 (front) 17x9 (rear)
  • Racing seat
  • Strut tower braces
  • TRD suspension braces
  • Gut the entire car and shave weight anywhere I can.
Approxomate total cost: $68,850

Daily driver: Infiniti G35 Coupe 6MT with all the options.

MSRP: $39,130

Utility Vehicle: Cadillac Escalade EXT with all the options.

MSRP: $59,295

With the remaining ~$32,725, I'd try to find me a 1939 Lincoln Zephyr "SCRAPE." I'd make that a project car to get it looking something like this one.

Not the greatest pic.

That body probably scrapes on the ground just from the engine rocking the car. :)

Bastige - *happy*

Mmm, an interesting exercise.

The Australian $'s in a bit of a fall at the moment, and as of 5 pm today was trading at 69.29 cents to the US dollar, so that gives me $288,642 to spend.

We need a daily driver, so a nice current model Subaru Outback 2.5i Luxury Pack manual will do nicely, - $44,980

The other half has her heart set on an A4 Cabriolet - so a nice V6 auto for her - $105,550

Which leaves me $138,912 to spend on something I want.

Mmm...I should be able to land a R34 GT-R M-Spec for that, but if I can't - can't quite make an M3 - oh well, guess I settle for a 3.2 litre Boxster at $133,100. Could be worse.

God only knows how I cover the insurance...

Well, if its $288, 647AUS, I would have to buy a Viper RT/10 and I might have just enough for a mini.

OK, prices from June 2004's evo magazine or manufacturer's web sites.

Working to PunkRock's £109,111.81

Audi RS6 Avant: £59,875
MTM ECU conversion, air filters, fuel system, gearbox reprogram, stainless steel downpipe, metal cats, middle and rear exhaust (543bhp): £7,565
Porsche 6 pot brake kit, front & rear: £5,700
H&R spring upgrade: £215

Ariel Atom 275: £29,287

Which leaves me with £6,469.87 to cover a trailer, helmet and some track day time, and probably some unforseen options on the Audi.

And for those of you wondering what an Ariel Atom is, here you go:
15_atom2.jpg

04 Chevy Silverado SS - $40,450 (utility vehicle)
04 Audi S4 Avant - $47,480 (Automatic - daily driver)
95 Mazda RX7 - $14,000ish (fun mobile)
Added Parts for the RX7 - $20,000
04 Pontiac GTO - $32,190 (...there really isn't a reason for this car other than the fact that I love it)
04 Subaru WRX STI - $36,852 (To make those snowy days here in New England a little more fun)

I'd have $7800 or so left over. I'd get all the best suspension goodies for the STI.

We are working in pound sterling are we, ok, umm...

For the track days:
Lotus Exige S2 £30,000 (approx)
Brand new off the line, everythings basic, you won't even get carpet, but...this is one of the best handling cars you will ever drive, and many will say it is a supercar.

For just driving about:
Audi A8 4.0 TDI £57,560
Recentley tested by Jeremy Clarkson on Topgear, he managed to drive 800 miles on one tank.

And for around town:
Alfa Romeo 147 16v 140bhp M-Jet £16,170
I just like it...

All comes in at...
£103,730

That leaves you about 6 grand for fuel, track days and insurance.

Lotus Elise 111R
Radical SR3 Turbo
and for practical driving...
Porsche 911GT3RS
Land Rover LR3 *upon release
and another Elise with the spare change

I'd go for:

A complete GT40 replica build yourself kit.
Aston Martin Lagonda Series IV. Mabye have some work done to the interior.

It should be something like 3/4 of the money so the rest is left for future plans with them.

Thanks PR. :)

What? Where are you going to get the cash for that?

Lotus Elise 111R: £27,995
Porsche 911 GT3 RS: £84,230

You're already over budget, and you haven't even bought the Radical, which is likely to cost you at least £30,000, or the Land Rover.

More sums required, I think!

200 grand?
A very heavily modified Mercedes v12 dropped into the back of a Toyota Prius :)

If not that, then I'd like to import the best TVR that this kind of money allows. If after taxes, there's enough left over, I'd like a second

Maybe he got smart and used the £100000 as security to borrow another 100k.

Save your money on the mods and get the Brabus Smart Roadster :)

No question, I'd buy a race car. $200,000 should be enough to get me into a retired Turner Motorsport World Challenge 325i, maybe from the '02 or '03 season, along with spare parts, I'd guess about $60,000.

I'd put a little dough prepping it for SCCA Improved Touring and run it for a full season.

The rest of the cash would go toward a tow vehicle, like a F350 Super Extended Cab and an enclosed trailer. Then there's the expenses of club racing a whole year. Tires, gas, crew, meals, lodging, etc.

Yep. ~80-100k should last a whole IT season if spent wisely.

A Ford GT would be just fine for me. Still enough for gas for a couple of weeks.;)

fordgt40.jpg

$150,000 USD

200000$ spent for things on wheels... daydreaming is good!

Since we don't have the Ariel Atom here, I'd take this:

trex.jpg

Campagna T-Rex - 45000$ (2 lateral Gs, a passenger, street legal in Canada and the US :D)

and...

112_04_la_elisey_s.jpg

Elise - 40000$

and

111402middle.jpg

Ducati 999r - about 30000$

and to move the family, since we have awful winters and some of the worst roads in North America here:

album_pic.php

Fully loaded, V10 TDI - 66000$ -
(forgot to add some bonus points for Off-Road capabilities)

The remaining 19000$ would be spend on supplies for track days.

OK, here goes: $200,000 USD.

For the missus first, A4 Cabriolet 3.0: $47,200
2004_gallery8_a430cab_lg.jpg

Then for me: S4 sedan,$46,800+ an estimated $5,000 for a good coilover kit, swaybars, and miscellaneous goodies = $51,800. Though I'd probably go for that wicked Nogaro Blue.
2004_gallery6_s4_lg.jpg

OK, that takes care of the daily drivers for an initial purchase of $99,000. Balance remaining $101,000. Now the real fun begins:

Complete frame-off restoration of my 1967 LeMans convertible, including interior, engine rebuild, headers & dual exhaust, replacing stock 2-speed Powerglide with a 3-speed T350/T400: $25,000
pontiac.jpg

As if there are people yet who haven't seen me paste this picture anywhere I can. ^^^

1997 1.8l Spec Miata racecar, professionally built, $16,000 + $8,000 for trailer, tires/wheels, spares package, driving school, SCCA comp license, suit/helmet, etc. = $24,000
miata.jpg

Tow vehicle for said racecar:
2003 Dodge Ram 2500 Sport Quad Cab AWD, HO turbo diesel, tow package, pretty well loaded: $30,000
033103132528.jpg

Grand Total: $178,000 USD

That leaves about $22,000 to spend on buying vacation time, travel expenses, entrance fees, etc. to run a season in Spec Miata. If I needed to save some for next year I could pick up about $6000 by opting for the Ram 1500 instead of the 2500. It would mean no diesel, but it would still tow 8500 pounds, which is plenty.
