I guess it was inevitable...

Stock wheels belong buried in the garage somewhere. Not actually on the car itself.

Resale value? Maybe get something for them on eBay, buy other stuff you might need for the car?

Interesting color. Power steering? AC? Looks to be in pretty good shape, better than mine. Keep stock daisies, buy stickies and go! Congrats! 👍

If you don't mind me asking what did you get it for?

Congratulations on the new car! Miata's are loads of fun!

I want to ask a Miata related question, would a Hardtop with the Soft top removed be lighter than without a hardtop and with a soft top?

No, but it's worth getting a hard-top because torsional rigidity goes up 10,000,000% with the hard top on. :D

Lovely purchase. Wish I had disposable income to buy a toy this year...

My hardtop weighed in at about 45lbs. My soft top weighed about 33lbs, that was without the rear window and not including the rain gutter metal/materials. My guess would be another 5 or 6lbs.

Plus, people just give you props for having one, and they look super cool. :)

Time_Attack, i'm sure you're already aware but there's a lot of good information at miata.net.

Miata >> MX-5.

Thank you, that is all.

(i really hate the Miata name, it sounds so.... boring/weird/lame/unusual/insertotherwordhere).
No offence of course, MX-5 just suits it so much better.

It certainly fits the Mazda way of adding a letter in front of an X and then adding a number.

I like Miata better.

I picked up new plug wires and plugs at work today. Mazda original parts aren't to expensive when you get the employee discount.

Also got oil and a filter after work. Hopefully have time to get all that done some time. The exhaust will have to wait a couple weeks till next pay day.

Anyone recommend a good exhaust for someone on a budget? Namely about/under $400 for a cat back. Megan racing stands out as one... Otherwise I'm not sure. The Greddy titanium exhaust sounds great but is like $700.

How about price & availability on mazdaspeed? Do they have anything cool, and can your parts people get you discount on that stuff?

I have no idea on that. I'm sure we can get just about anything mazdaspeed but I'm not sure I'd get a discount on special order items.

Dealers have "cost+" arrangement for parts purchases by employees, typically around 10~30% over dealer cost of the part.

Performance parts generally have smaller markup, so discount wouldn't be as nice as like on the parts you just bought(plugs, plug wires) in most cases. You should go check out the current mazdaspeed catalog at the parts counter when you get the chance. Counterman can also fill you in on the employee pricing. Go on your lunch break!

Special Order shouldn't change the cost, except there would be a freight charge, and are non-returnable in most cases.

I can't seem to find a catalog of mazdaspeed parts online but I doubt they have many street parts still available. I think all but a few things and of course the spec miata parts are probably NLA by now.

Exhaust? I would suggest you start searching for a Spec 2. Other than that, custom make a center-exit jobbie like Speed Junkie did. Less pipe, fewer bends, and you can get the Spoon-style muffler he and I both got for $65 off Ebay.

EDIT: Screw Mazdaspeed. I'm a Mazda fan and I wouldn't consider paying the outrageous prices for factory options like that.

The Oyama exhaust front and center on Speed Junkie's Tetsuya link looks marvelous.

EDIT: Here, to make it easy I'm going to make you a mods list that you can't argue with.

1. Flyin Miata butterfly brace (the entire thing)
2. Carbing or Mazdaspeed front strut tower brace (whatever it is it must be 1 piece and 3-point)
3. Gnar exhaust (Spec 2, that Oyama masterpiece, custom 2.5 inch stainless center pipe, etc)
3. Racing Beat header
4. Other cool stuff
5. Seat rail (Bride possibly)
6. Bucket (Recaro, don't skimp)
7. Momo Monte Carlo 320mm (because anything less is too small and anything more is too big and it's cheaper and better than any of the others)

We'll talk coilovers when you sell those MR2s cause you're gonna have to.
