When I hit reply in the Halo 2 thread it goes to the home page and doesn't post. This is a test to see if I can post.

I just tried and it worked for me OK. (I've deleted my post incase you wonder where it is)

Can you post if you quote someone?

Its not a problem with quoting anyone. It is defintly a problem with hyperlinks like I said in the next post.

It only happened to me when I tried to post a link to the Bungie.net then stats. If I post that link it will fail. Try it. :sly:
Go to http://www.bungie.net then click stats at the bottom of the page. Next try to post that link. It wont work.

OK figured it out. On their site it is like this http://www.bungie.net/stats BUT it has this / at the end after stats. If you delete this / then it will work. Otherwise it will send you to the home page or it just wont post. Very strange.

This is hands down the most bizarre thing I have ever seen. I just did a little bit of experimenting, and I found that any post which contains the words "stats" with a forward slash / at the beginning and the end will result in you being redirected to the front page. What is included before or after this magic word is irrelevant. Even more perplexing is the fact that the word must be only spelled "stats". With programming, you can pretty much always narrow down a particular error to one single thing in particular that is causing a specific problem. This led me to check for all forward slashes preceding or following the letter /s - no problems. Maybe its only a string that is 7 characters long, with the first and last being /'s? No! The word between the slashes MUST be "stats", specifically. Any other combination of the letters works. I can honestly say I have absolutely no earthly idea what would be the cause of such a thing. I would submit this to the vB developers (again), but there is a 1% chance they will actually help me considering this issue does not appear on their own forums. There is a 99% chance they will tell me it has something to do with my custom style. I'll then go on to say that the problem also affects my forum on a completely default, fresh vB style, and then they won't answer. So, I'm going to play the odds here and save some time - just don't post anything with the magic word in it!

I think this problem deserves a sticky thread so new members can adjust their posting style accordingly. Or better yet, put a clause in the AUP that lists this particular string of letters as "offensive and unacceptable".

that is really, really weird, there's another 2 threads with 2 different peices of text that they can't type
