I just wanted to start some constructive critisism among the more critical board users regarding this game. I'm quite the optimist; I'm a believer that TT is a market test to see if the Gran Turismo concept could be applied to something other than Ricers and still sell well. I'm also optimistic in thinking that anyone from Polyphony is going to read this and take any of my ideas to heart and implement them.

But then again, I wrote a letter to Sony when GT1 first came out requesting the same game with motorcycles... so you never know.

Quick Eval:
I like the game. It's GT4 with bikes. I ride bikes every day - I love them. There is nothing on the planet like motorcycling, and TT captured the joy and challenge they represent.

Pros:

1 - Choosing your race number. This is something I've been wishing for since day one! I'm only 60% done with the game right now, but I'm anticipating being able to run #1 on the bike with which I win the championship. GT1-4 never let you do that! Very cool feature; I hope it is retained for future TT and GT versions.

2 - Earning the Machine. I like it that squids can't get a gazillion credits and buy the fastest bike in the game; it has to be earned. Well done!

3 - Setup Overview. Having a screen give you a quick rundown of your settings (the settings menu) makes setup quick, and jogs the memory much better than the system in GT4, although, I like GT4's system much better than all the other 3. The menus are easy to navigate and easy to read, which makes the setup less of something I'd forget how to do. And if I do, the explanations on the bottom (same as in GT4) make it really helpful to decide/remember what I was doing!

4 - Same tracks, same game. Thanks!!! I've been wanting to rip a few hot laps on a quick bike on all my favorite tracks. This is way cool.

5 - Wrecks. PLEASE give us cool wrecks in Gran Turismo!

Cons:
1 (the only one) - Moon Physics. WTF? Every time you fail a trail, license test, or challenge, your rider suddenly adopts an anti-gravity crash mode and slides as if he is in a vaccuum or on ice. Or on Neptune. While unbelievably spectacular crashes can be watched and enjoyed, it's totally fake and lame to tip over at 20 mph and slide for a half a mile whilst performing 32 flips. The cones in GT4 did the same thing if you failed a license test by bumping one: they'd zip across Earth at just below the speed of light for about 8 miles, even if it was a simple "tappy tappy" from the front bumper.

Earth has gravity, roads have friction, bodies don't slide like that (I'm an EMT, I should know).

Anyhoo, that's all for me. On the off chance that someone from the game makers actually read this thread, I'd actually like to put in some ideas for improving GT4... but I'd rather stay on topic. Hope somebody else has some ideas to add - I'm looking forward to reading them!

Thanks!:dopey:

I must say that I agree with you on absolutely everything. Well written post.
I'm going to have to say that agree with you on agreeing on that post !...

Nicely put there MinusB !....

another thing is that the physics really are more of a car game kind of style and the thing that certain bikes like the busa cant wheelie???? not really realistic what also would be nice is that if you fall of you see like shreads of your leather fall off just make the whole thing totally realistic other then that its a pretty decent game pretty easy though

I havent played it that much yet maybe about 15-20% but i think the physics need some work, they are great but not perfect. And why does everyone forget about to mention about AI in any of the polyphony games. To put it nicely...they suck!! I love every game they have made and own them all, even the prolouge and concept versions. But come on, sort the retards out that we're racing. They wont change lines or tactics for anything and drive as if we arent even in the race. When was the last time you had a AI bike try to out brake you on the straight and run wide becuase of it, or actually make a clean tactical pass on you. If it has happened its because of some other reason then the AI was smart enought to make the decion to pass you then. I love close races and only winning/losing by .010 seconds. But that only happens if you get into some bike that is way slower then the AI and you race well. Ok sorry I am going on for too long about this. Other than that I agree with the first post.

I like the observation about the gravity, it's always annoying to watch the failure crashes, and how unrealistic they are. It almost makes failing more painful! :(

painful is right. they need to make it realistic in a sense

i also agree with the pros. i love the graphics and the detail in each bike. Very nice!!:sly: i think the physics could be improved, though. overall i think its an amazing game. its better than i expected

Hehe, PD would never admit that they read this website. :) They'd be up to their necks in legal issues!

Hehe. Anyways I just started seriously playing the game today, and apart from the lack of damage(who needs damage if you don't crash? :D) and a couple of issues I have with the physics involved with crashes, the game is as good as you can get without actually throwing a leg over a bike(and much less painful!).

My only gripe is that going sideways in TT is no where near as fun, exciting, or controllable as in real life. :(

Going Sideways on a bike in real life is verry difficult. Its fun, only when you remember it. When its happening, you a$$hole tries to eat the bike. And its only easily controlled by VERY experienced racers.

TT does a great job of it. Its easy to get a little wheelspin, but get going sideways and your in trouble.
