I'm 17 yrs old and in December I will have had my liscense for 2 years. I got pulled over for the first time today (70in a 55). what happens now as far as insurance? Will it go up a lot or what?

well...first, haha
second, it'll probably go up quite a bit...well, in canada, it goes up a TON just because the dumbass insurance agent was too incompetent to fill out the forms properly.

Try to go to driving school if you have that option. It saved me from paying the ticket (still had to pay court costs  ) and didn't make my insurance go up any . It lasted about 2 hours and consisted of lectures about defensive driving and videos. Well worth it.

2 hours? Mine was like 6 or 8 hours. Bastards.

If you don't want the ticket on your record, and don't want your insurance to go up, I suggest having a lawyer/attorney go with you, and have him talk to the judge/prosecuting attorney. 99% of the time the attorney can get you out of the ticket by having you do like 20-40 hours of community service, and maybe some other ****.

When I was 16/17 I got pulled over like 20 times. Had all sorts of dumbass tickets ranging from multiple 30+mph over the speedlimit, reckless driving, excessive acceleration, exhibition of speed, etc. You name it, and my stupid ass probably got it.:banghead: I only have one ticket on my record, I believe, and it's the one I didn't take a lawyer to court with.

Yeah, but are lawyer fees less than raised insurance for three years? Lets say it goes up $20:Month, that's 240 x 3, 720 .... Ok maybe a lawyer would be cheaper. But man what a hastle.

I got a ticket doing 70 in a 55 a month ago, court date is in March. I just don't want the points.

First of all, your insurance will go up if you get points on your license, that's the basis for raising it. Try your best to lower the amount of points on your ticket. How to do this: first of all, if the ticket is at 3 points or greater, make sure to take the doubling effect in action, take the driver's safety course. This will consist of either 3 meetings of 5 hours or 5 meetings of 3 hours. It depends on your schedule. They are usually once a week. If anything at all, see if the judge will let you take that without having to use the points it gives you, (what I mean is take it for credit, not points), so they can take the points off the ticket without wasting this course option, because you can only take the course once in 5 years.

Then, if the judge says nope, still take the course and drop the point value of your ticket. If you're lucky, it will be a ticket with low point value, making the insurance stay at a minimum.
