I just Saved over my Main save in GT5 :(

Hey Guys,

I was only was 21Aspec and 17 B spec but i have around 120 cars mostly all tuned and some really high quality premiums inc race cars, and have now lost the lot, not to mention about 1.9mil in credits all i did was make an alt save so i could give some friends some cars pffth look what happens, i thought i was saving over the alts one with my main /cry lol

I had all of the license done and some golds and silvers here and there as well and nearly all Special events. And the worst thing that could of happened to me... I lost my hardest earned favorite car, the Bugatti Veyron i spent weeks on getting and finally got it the other day..

Just a word to all, don't race for 11hours straight and try and back something up at 4.40am. Not the smartest thing! :drool:
 
Ah well, these things happen to people who try to cheat their saved game file...

I laugh every time i see one of these threads.

Edit: at least you can always do the seasonal events now for the money boost.

"Backing up" isn't required to give your friends some cars.

Lesson learned!
 
Maybe his not joking, would you take this quite considerably!. Anyway, if that really happens, i can give you atleast one worth car to used, not much.. but useful

Lol i totally agree with you nickg07 its hilarious that people exploit birthday presents and duplications to get them ahead even though its infact slower than actually earning it the hard way and the way it was meant to be. but i wasn't trying to cheat at all!

I was just trying to duplicate a car for a friend, rofl it wasn't for me at all, the only reason i was even backing up the save was because i finally got my car i was farming. and yeah i hear ya Unionstrike, i could write a book:)
 
Dude. :( In the future, keep a true backup on a usb stick or something.
 
Dont wanna laugh but it is quite funny. The veryon is not a hard car to get. You get it as a prize after a lvl14 event. You will have it back soon enough. And it handles horribly
 
I want to laugh at the guy but he has an Auron avatar and that adds cool points.
 
I just have to say I Love this Gaming Community, what a forum!! Yes i am so glad i finally joined some ps3 communities so i can get to know and meet people and also learn as Gt is always a game that you will always learn from others. Thanks for the lightning fast replies guys. And yeah Kevin****Theory if you could do that, that would be awesome mate, even just to borrow is sweet as and will help me get back up to where i was in no time. my psn is xxAiDsTaRxx

@Slurm I totally agree with back ups, NFI why i wouldn't back up my GT saves, i used to, think i have been having way to much fun and didn't even think to doing that.

@SimonK lol some laughter should be let out over this situation as I'm very pissed off but all you can do is laugh and get back on the horse!

And Gohon i hear ya on that mate, for some reason i found it hard as i ended up doing it with a Lambo Mercielago Veloce 09 fully tuned and it was going all over the shop, i drive with 0 assists on no tcs asm etc and use a g27 wheel, which might i add I'm getting used to as i got it the other day.

oh and Dennisch what is this Darwin Award you speak of lol? :crazy:

I guess d know how you feel.. PD destroyed my save file when i had bout 100 cars 21 a apec 24 b spec. but cos m a seasonal w***e m back to lvl23,bspecs still 0 tho XD

That is true. It's a large slice of karma when you try and cheat your save and you end up deleting it.
However, if you were just backing it up just for the heck of it, that is a major bummer.

Sweet Jeebus I did the SAME EXACT THING two days ago! Was duping a car for a friend and accidentally deleted my main save. I was lvl. 25 A-spec and lvl. 19 B-spec, but I had all a-spec events golded, even the hellish FGT championship...:dunce:
 
So did you lose everything and are starting over, or did you just have to go to an older backup and just lost the Veyron and some credits?
 
I did the same thing on one of my first tries duping a car. But good thing I had it saved to two different USB drives. I ended up taking another hour installing the game into the HD again. But I didn't have to start all over since I had it on a USB stick.
 
@ Kdash01, damn mate that must have sucked big time, pretty much what has happened to me :( you have done well to get to where you are then and B spec lol that is so painful, i just want to race not tell some driver how to do it
 
@Bandwidth FYI i dont cheat i never have and i never will. i was just trying to back up my save thats all mate, shame this happened but what can you do lol.

@Voxex That is just to painful all A specs as golds and that happens to you, i would not be a very happy camper at all, and for you to have done FGT on all golds must have taken some considerable effort so my hats off to you mate!
 
Bkviper I actually have to start from scratch so no cars have like 160k to spend and im in a pretty bad situation at the moment, lol but what can you do aye, also i dont have any other saves as i didnt realise you had to back stuff up on the ps3, i just got a ps3 4 weeks ago as ive been a hardcore xbox junkie but i am so over xbox and glad i came over to the darkside!
 
Surely you should still have your alt. save?

I'm at A-SPEC level 28, B-SPEC 12, almost all super-cars in garage, all events golded, and one day I got a message "system partition of your HDD need to be formated, push select+start".
Saddest of all is my photos.They were REALLY beautiful...Not to mention GOW3 and Burnout Paradise (completed) saves...

So man - just beat all bonus races and that's about all...👍
 
I have learned from this mistake Enilm and i have taken the liberty of making sure i have backed up the save on email, on every drive of the PC and also on 2 sticks rofl, i cant handle this ever happening again, i wish i read into duplicating a bit more before accepting that my friend wanted a race car real bad and couldn't be bothered getting one, next time this happens ill just give them the damn car and earn another one lol, anything duplicating or exploiting with b'gifts im not for it at all. But each to there own

Thanks for the Sympathy and also the empathy guys, what a great bunch of Gamers on this forum, i Love it already ! At least its good to know someone else has had this happen to them i guess... :dopey:

Hi all,

How are we all going? I just wanted to post a quick reply by letting you all know that i am lvl 23 in Aspec and and going to start on Bspec soon, so even though i lost my whole account it isn't as bad as i thought because I'm almost back to where i was. Thanks for your kind words and helping me get motivated to restart and play again. WOW it is such a kickass game, so much so i don't play anything else lol

I will be an ass and call bs on this one. You cant save over files it does not let you overwrite save files when you are backing it up. Why dont u tell us how u did?

Level 21? what was your play time? because after doing 5 seasonal events you can be close to 25. And u had 120 cars and most premium models at 21, did u get it legit or dupe? See what happens when u get carried away with free stuff. Gota know your limit.
